We did it at chesterfield it sounds nice if struck well. I was part of an elderly band of ringers 70s and 80s

Tenor needs to catch the sally lower down

Not necessarily. Her striking is accurate, which is the main thing.
The ringer on the tenor is tall, so catching the Sally higher makes it more comfortable, it doesn't effect ringing in any way
