"A true American legend, Bill Kirchen is for many, the king of the Fender Telecaster guitar and rightly so!
The Grammy nominated musician, singer and songwriter is one of the fortunate few who can step onto any stage, play those trademark licks that drove his seminal Commander Cody classic Hot Rod Lincoln into the Top 10, and elicit instant recognition for a career that has spanned 50 years.
So highly rated for his guitar work with Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen, as one of the most in demand session musicians, he has toured and recorded with everyone from Nick Lowe, Emmylou Harris and Doug Sahm to Elvis Costello and many more."
Named "a Titan of the Telecaster" by Guitar Player Magazine, he celebrates an American musical tradition where rock 'n' roll and country music draws upon it's origins in blues and bluegrass, Western Swing from Texas and California Honkey-Tonk. When another US legend, Johnny Cash was alive he crowned Kitchen one of the "greats".

A man that used his skills to reinvent himself and amazingly he is still alive . History will tell but nobody has done that song like Bill and god bless him . Drove trucks millions of miles and that song was a masterpiece.

Heard him at the Minnesota State Fair a few years ago. He played that fun medley/signature tune. A marvel.

I have seen him play twice! Both times were excellent. First time, was at a bar in Rockford, Ilinois. I danced and danced! I have all the Commander Cody albums. Fond memories. Love Tina Louise and Semi Truck!

I drove down to the Danny Gatton tribute show at The Birchmere not long after he got booked for the great gig in the sky. I made the mistake of commiserating with fellow travelers in the lobby while Bill was doing his thing. I was talking to a young man who knew Danny, peppering him with questions regarding Danny’s demise. He had to stop me, telling me to pay attention to Bill. I’m like the lonely housewife when I attend the shows of the non mainstream musicians I follow. I’m simply thrilled to be in the company of folks who have heard of and quite admire these artist. I bend a lot of ears. I cannot help myself.
