@5:25 - Imagine looking at a set list that jumps from "Apache" by the Shadows, to "Malaguena," to "The Wind Cries Mary" by Hendrix, to "Secret Agent Man" by Johnny Rivers in just under 90 seconds, and makes it all sound like it goes together. You wouldn't believe it if he hadn't just played it!
"... "Apache" by the Shadows, to "Malaguena," (to "Boom Boom" by John Lee Hooker), to "The Wind Cries Mary" by Hendrix,..." You left one out, but I got your back, dude. =)
We were also there, and enjoyed quite a bit. Stayed at same hotel, but thought it inappropriate to address them. Four shows in three days? I bet they were worn out.
my friend jimmy rasta turned me on to junior brown when I was in prison in Texas about 20 years ago. they use to play his music on this local radio show that we could pick up in the joint. I'd never heard of junior but my friend was familiar with him and we would almost always get at least 1 junior brown song a week on this program that was dedicated to musicians from texas. long live am radio
Absolutely love this montage of classic songs. Chills went up and down my spine when he transitioned into Apache (if my memory serves me right) then further diversifying the 60s even beyond the surf sounds without ever losing the surf momentum. While going to concerts doesn't appeal to me anymore, If this man and his band came to my town, I'd unearth the classic Futurama/Fry quote, "Shut up and take my money!!"
I've seen Junior many times over the decades. I've heard him play Hawaiian but never heard this creative little medley played like this , he is incredibly creative.
🎉best performer ever , Terry I don't know how you do it so well it must be the Red Sox ,I've listened to many many hours of you and really enjoy your individual style ,
amazing player, may i suggest Bugs Henderson's ventures medley. I wish he & Junior could have recorded together, love the secret agent man licks, too 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
@@73bigguy Yes indeed, my bad. You are 100 % right it was The Wind Cries Mary. What a cool thing to just throw right in there !! Junior The Genius 😂 He sure has an impromptu ear for what just sounds great.
I saw Junior open unannounced for Blake Sheldon and Toby Keith years ago.... by far the best musician on the stage that night... blew the so called "Nashville Superstars" away with just a three piece band.
So many surf guys get big piggyback Fender amps with outboard reverb tanks and big JBL 15” to get “the tone” and drip but here it with with nothing more than an every day Silverface Twin Reverb!
I think Junior could use a lever/rocker mounted near his wrist that would lift that piece like he's doing so awkwardly. He could just lean his hand on it to lift the piece... no arm or shoulder needed. This from a non-player, but it seems so easy to remedy.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I guess it's more of a style/trademark for Jr. to do it the way he does. If he ever wanted to do a custom term bar, there are probably 20 companies that would be proud to make it to his specifications for free.
One of the greatest guitar players of all time!
Junior Brown is a National Treasure!
One of a kind
So am I 😉 👍 😎
He's the Highway Patrol
Thank God for artists like Junior Brown....legend for the ages...
His beautiful wife right by his side all these years. Blessings!
Great to see Junior Brown still goin' strong!
Dude is cool as hell. Excellent musician
the way a show should be. no flashing lights, fancy dancers , pyrotechnics . just an artist and his talent
You would appreciate Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives. Any one person in that band could be the frontman in his own show.
What talent, playing power cords on a mini guitar, could teach a 5 year old how to do that, he's a fraud..
JB’s still on fire after all these years, thats all I need.
Def missing out on Marty and the boys
It's 4am and I'm getting ready to go to work. The best 10 minutes to start the day off right!
Still can't beat a Fender reverb for that drippy surf sound. Leo was a genius.
Cut it out joker!
Played a Fender Twin for years 'till I got too old to pack it around!
Just came across this. I’m an old Junior Brown fan. Glad to see he is still performing. Great as ever.

🎸🥁🤠
"Secret aging man" 😂 JB has always had a good sense of humor.
Beautiful moment, my man is a legend and clearly loves his craft
One of the best pickers regardless of genre!
I was at the show and Junior was in fine form!!
True talent doesn’t need pyrotechnics or dancers JB one of the best ever
He also doesn't need skimpy outfits to pack butts in seats.
Lizzo, take a hint from Junior... PLEASE! =)
Man I've been a big fan of JB since the early 1990's. This is so cool
We love your music and I have been a fan for years I am a truck driver and listen to constantly, thanks for the great music 🎸👏🏼
We were also there, and enjoyed quite a bit. Stayed at same hotel, but thought it inappropriate to address them. Four shows in three days? I bet they were worn out.
I am at my desk at work but if I weren't I'd be go-go dancing up a storm to this mastery, and I'm a Gen X'er!
I’m a huge fan of surf music and Junior does a fantastic job 🌴‼️🏄🏼🌊

I love this medley, reminds me of the sixties. What I can remember!
I don't remember a whole lot, either... being born in '66 an' all. =)
Rock on Junior
Lord its been years.. Was just listening to Jr, and was wondering if he was still performing. This popped up. Id love to see him again.
The wind cries Junior!
This performance is the definition of the word "Groovy." Thanks for sharing.
Well, he may be aging, but his country-infused surf is still unique in the genre.

He's got more tricks up his sleeves than a coat factory has sleeves.
Maestro. Could play the phonebook
Super cool rocker and a good man
never sounded better.........thanks..........
An unstoppable force of talent would love to see him live own all his albums.😊
He also knew how to "Pick" a beautiful wife.

I have a star on my chest largely in part to this guy.
I've seen Junior many times over the decades. I've heard him play Hawaiian but never heard this creative little medley played like this , he is incredibly creative.
I have always loved this man, Mr. Brown you do us Texans proud
And Jimi Hendrix said, “and you’ll never hear
Surf music again”… boy was he wrong🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️
I dig me some Junior Brown.
Wow ,,how old is he. Good for him. Way to stay young show um how it's done grandpa
Wonderful!
JB is amazing. He played in a town near me last year and I missed the show. Hope he comes back!

So awesome to see he's still doing this! I hope I get a chance to see him!
we love it...
Wish he'd come out west again!
he is in Carlsbad CA on Friday 5/16/23
Does he ever play in Northern California?
An oldy, having fun with oldies.
They are incredible! Saw them open for Marty Stuart I was floored!
That had to be an awesome show! Just saw Marty a few weeks ago, no opener and man he smoked the place!
amazing player, may i suggest Bugs Henderson's ventures medley. I wish he & Junior could have recorded together, love the secret agent man licks, too 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I met Bugs Henderson, he was my girlfriend’s idol. Amazing player. They’re both in Heaven now.🥲🙏🏾🕊️
Very cool!!
It's about Talent
This is so sick.straight fire and goodness😊
Great sound !
Awesome Video!!
amazing!
Only Junior would think to throw some of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing" into the middle (6:30 ish) of a Surf Medley ! Loved it !!!
I think the was The Wind Cries Mary
@@73bigguy Yeah it was, either way it was nice

Junior and Tanya are goddamn National Treasures.
And I'm a willing to wrassel anybody who says they ain't.
Awesome.
Outstanding!
One of the 1st songs I put on my iPod back in the day was Junior Brown's Surf Medley.
Surf medley is fantastic
The back end was The Wind Cries Agent Man. Lol
I saw Junior open unannounced for Blake Sheldon and Toby Keith years ago.... by far the best musician on the stage that night... blew the so called "Nashville Superstars" away with just a three piece band.

Years ago had a 8-track of this driving down route 66 Good memories
Post covid, Junior and I are both "secret aging man"
Watched their covid shows and caught them here in Kansas City's Knuckleheads. Great show!
Junior is the man ... Great musician and showman 👍🏻
Ah LOVES dat man!
Wherever Eddie Munster is, I,'m sure he's listening to Junior.
I hear a bit of Jim Hendrix riff.....what homage
the wind cries Mary. so cool.
THIS IS THE REAL DEAL ... reminds me of vietnam era 😊
Glad to see him out there jamming
You go daddy
The guy could use a whammy bar
What's he sticking his finger in?
Junior n brain seltzer should do a tour together,, Junior wife a hell of rhythm guitar player
Scott Matthew's can do more with a snare drum than most people do with a complete drum set.
My sister always thought it was “secret Asian man”. She was 10
Maybe she not long... 😂
Me too...🤭
I still sing it "Secret Asian Man"... and I'm 56. =)
I see the drummer for the De Railers
Heck 🎉🎉ya
I'm curious Junior, why not have a tremolo arm on the guitar? I can't imagine having to use the floating bridge with just my fingers.
Don't ever forget Tanya Rae. Junior wouldn't be the same without her!' Karl

Long live twang!
Arguably the best guitarist in the world.
You must be new to guitar music..? not even in the top 99 %
@@jameshatfield8410 Good one. I laughed!
Did he ever get big red back?
Can anyone list the medley songs in order?
