    This is one of the most epic scenes I've ever seen in a film. I think it's a great shame that this was (currently) Don Bluth and his studio's final film. I really enjoyed it and consider it a fine sci-fi film. The music and the animation in this scene are incredible.

      @@jonathantrepon6050 Actually, there does seem to be one. Go to 00:06 and look to the upper left, and you'll see something in the distance; or at 01:06, where you see a glow on the planet's edge where the ship landed. And since all the ice was absorbed and converted into bodies of water for the new planet, it could work. The lack of a moon would definitely be a problem, but if they can build the Titan, I'm sure they could craft an artificial moon, as well. I think expanded material explained that the crew hid the ship there not just to keep it from the Drej, but also because it would be the ideal place to make a second Earth if they ever got it working.

    I bought this movie many years ago when it came out on DVD, purely for this scene. While the overall movie isn't bad, it isn't particularly great either & a lot of the CGI hasn't aged well. This scene however makes the whole film worth watching, at least once. To date, it still stands as one of, if not *the,* best planetary creation scenes in any movie, & I only add that qualifier because I can't think of anything comparable. That's not necessarily because it's scientifically accurate (it isn't), but because it's showcased as a testament to the power of human imagination, our stubborn determination to overcome the impossible, survive &, most of all, a restoration of lost hope for the drifting remnants of our devastated, homeless species.

It's clearly targeted at older kids and teens, has a kid-friendly humor, but also a somewhat darker tone than what you'd get from Disney. Guys, it really isn't hard to make a star. All you need is a shit load of hydrogen atoms, and then a way to compress them to create a star. Space is fucking filled to the brim with hydrogen to, and while we don't have the technology today to compress them into creating a star, we are almost to the point where we could literally build fusion reactors. Which are like mini suns. Now imagine some of the same principles being used here, but on a much larger scale. I mean, like the man said it's over 1000 years in the future, and at the rate technology increases today it's entirely possible this Titan machine could have built the star while compressing the materials around itself to make New Earth. While that was happening it's entirely possible the compression of the materials to form the planet also created the star.

    • @xavi-kun
      @xavi-kun 4 года назад +1

      No they used the asteroid Field where the Titan was hidden. It only appears like a spiral galaxy due to the Titan itself spinning in an effort to coerce the field to lump them together to create another planet.

      Finding a planet that has the right atmosphere, chemical composition, foliage, wildlife... etc. THATS the reason to create one to ENSURE THE CORRECT RESULTS... how embarassing would that be to THINK you found the perfect planet... but OOPS the moment u set foot on it the composition if the soil reacting with you skin creates and acidic effect... and then ur a puddle of melted flesh bone and blood...

    The horrid fact of ignorance... we always assume an advanced species is going to promote peace and tranquility... we think we are the only species in the universe to continue sensless violence and fear at what is different than us... we are not unique in this thinking. Every species fears the unknown, its a primitive instinct that is present in every living organism. Survival of OUR way of life is always what drives us to self preservation. The destruction of another species or (as history shows us) even culture to preserve dominance of a certain group is as prevailing in others as it is us. Ignorance is NOT just a human trait! And the fact that we still have the gall to judge others in their indiscretions is APPALLING! Unfortunately how korso turns on cale is exactly how the majority of humanity would treat eachother. "I weep for the species.."

    why didn't they just fought back when the drej arrived to destroy earth if they have the tech to create a planet then surely they have the tech to fight back and destroy the drej instead what a strange movie

    • @xavi-kun
      @xavi-kun 4 года назад

      Here’s the thing: it’s difficult to fight to Dredge to begin with since they’re a race of Pure Energy. In other words, conventional means (ie guns, lasers and missiles) do not work against them. They were only able to defeat them in the film by exploiting the fact they were energy and absorbed them to power the Titan.

    Depending on the size, temperature, etc. of a sun, and distance of a planet from that sun a stable planet is possible without a moon. Venus has no moon and it's axis is stable.
