  • Back to basics is part of wellness living. I enjoyed reconnecting with nature and basic living, it felt awesome village, back to basics and glamping experience. Experience AUTHENTIC traditional Namibian African Village Life and African Farm Life at the Northern part of Namibia. This is the Oshiwambo tribe Namibian cultural Experience, a different world. Many people in Northern Namibia still live like this. Please note that this is video a personal experience of my visit to the northern part of Namibia. I am an Owashimba - Oshikwanya speaker (my parents are from the Oshiwambo tribe of Namibia). However, I was not born and raised outside Namibia. I was born and raised outside Namibia and only lived in Namibia for about 2 years all my life. I do visit Namibia often to reconnect with my roots, culture, family and enjoy the beauty of this amazing country. I have grown to appreciate the authentic simple village life after living in the western world for so long. I didn't appreciate the village life as much when I was young, but now I do.
    Insight into the Namibian authentic village life - Oshiwambo culture of Namibia. Video taken in the Ohangwena region of the northern part of Namibia.

    My sister Valentina you did your best. As you have indicated this was your personal experience. I wonder why it should prickle some people's nerves. Yes the narration leaves lots of homework to be made but you made us proud exposing our life to the outside world of which we (critics) failed to do.
    I have seen a lot of people going on about burying poo and why latrine pits are not dug. But it's not traditional nor culture to do it. There are those with latrine pits and there are those without. We use to have very thick thickets hence there was/is no need to build or dig latrine pits considering that privacy is guaranteed by nature.

You reminded me all the hard life of living in a little village, but it had made me strong and strive to better myself in all that I do in life. I now live in Las Vegas. Once a year I go back to my village. Peaceful, fresh air and happy community.

    I enjoyed this! from the look of things she has been away from Owambo for a long period of time. I am glad she can do the village works, okavillage girl kiipupulu shili. I laughed at Oinyakwiti, but I real don't know how to call those residues too. I however was scared she will hit her feet while pounding but she was good not to. Guess what, been out there with friends from outside and didn't have anything on the village life to show. Atleast I can be able to show them this one. Thanks fellow Namibian.

    I very much enjoyed watching this video, thank you for sharing. I do have a question or two though.
    I understand about not having plumbing indoors. I was wondering why each family, or home, wouldn't have an outdoor latrine built. Do some villages construct outdoor latrines by digging a very deep hole, or pit, and having some sort of shelter surrounding it for privacy? I was just curious about that. A dirt filled bucket or some sort of container with dirt in it could be kept inside and when a person is finished they would cover it with dirt.

    • @BacktoBasicsTravel
      @BacktoBasicsTravel  5 лет назад +2

      Thank you. Not all villages are without indoor or outdoor plumbing. Some villages are more modern than others. In this video, I highlighted the more traditional village that hasn't been modernized or has minimal modernization.
