  • Here it is: The Beginner’s Guide to Getting Started With Gouache. You might remember this series from last summer, but I wanted to put it all in one video for you guys. This is for the ones who are REALLY SERIOUS about starting their gouache journey. Omg, I didn't realize this was a compilation of all three videos in the series. This is just wonderful. I love all your videos, but this one and the one you did on light will be so useful!

Ohh I'm so glad it was helpful for you! Truthfully, I get a bit nervous when "teaching". I always feel like I can't articulate myself very well when it comes to explaining techniques, so comments like these are SUPER encouraging!! 💛

Hobby Artist w/fistful of new W&N Gouache tubes - 50% sale. Searched RUclips for "Gouache" videos . Spent weeks viewing (TV not desktop) the work of the gouache artists you would expect. For weeks NONE of your work ever showed up. Saw 4 of the "gouache series" last night. Spot-on relevant to what I needed to hear (Paper!) & most wanted to see demonstrated i.e. "How does this stuff actually work." Appreciated the quality of your narrated content. Useful, knowledgeable, proficient, enthusiastic, encouraging, upbeat, information-dense. Gradually became aware of something else profound but unspoken. It was right there in your online artist statement. Chicken & egg - was looking for something I knew was there. Thanks for making it easy to find. "My hope for every piece of art I create is that it brings glory to my Creator, inspires others to open up their imaginations, and helps everyone who sees it to see the magic that comes from simply existing here on this beautiful planet."

oh, wow I was just going to stop my channel because I never used Gouache or painted with a brush. I really needed to understand how to use Gouache and you explained it very well.
    Thank you

What a fun tutor you are! Love your video style and detailed instructions on what you are thinking and doing. I am a newbie gouache painter and I just found Studio Ghibli movies! I am totally obsessed with both!! Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Please keep them coming!! :)

Cool video with a lot of details. Might need to check your audio settings as the voice is only out of the left speaker/ear until the "sign out" when it is out of both.

Thank you so much!! I noticed that audio issue during the premiere. 😅 I made these videos last summer when I was just learning my editing software 😅

This was super helpful, thank you for all the tips and tricks!! I have the Windsor and Newton tubes. Can I put them in an airtight container more like the other gouache palettes or is that a bad idea?

So glad it was helpful for you! I put my W&N gouache into airtight containers sometimes, and it works really well! You may need to refresh them with water every once in a while though :)

I'm pretty sure I know why light gouache dry darker and dark dry lighter. If you didn't figure it out already by yourself, I can serve you with na answer

@@jill22 it might be simply because as much as gouache is opaque it is not perfectly opaque. And usually light gouache you use on darker colors so a little of that dark shines through and the same with dark. Used on lighter, light shines through
