  • The health benefits of vitamin K2 go far beyond blood clotting, which is done by vitamin K1, and vitamin K2 also works synergistically with a number of other nutrients, including calcium and vitamin D. The biological role of Vitamin K2 (MK-4 and MK-7) is to help move calcium into the proper areas in your body, such as your bones and teeth, and to remove calcium out of the blood vessels and soft tissues.

it's due to the schooling and certification they got. Rockefeller? bought the American medical society. big pharma also have there rules. all this keeps a medical Dr from even discussing herbs abd vitamin's. they can lose their medical certification and license for doing so. homeopathics are fine but insurances won't pay for their care.

You're right about that! My doctors don't seem to know anything about Vitamin K2. They just want to put me on Xgeva, which is a very expensive bone strengthening drug. I'm 70 years old and was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which is type of cancer that eats away at my bones. When I was young I didn't know about fat soluble vitamins. I didn't want to get fat so I basically ate fat free diet. I don't know if that has anything to do with me developing this cancer, but I'm hoping that making the right changes might turn things around.. I'm on currently receiving Revlimid, Velcade, and Dexamethasone.to fight the cancer, but my doctors are clueless on what supplements I should take, The only supplements I have been told to take are Calcium and D3.. Any suggestions for a good K2 supplement would be greatly appreciated. I figure it can't hurt if I'm careful not to take too much.

Since I got home I've avoided most carbs and dropped 15 lbs of belly fat. High blood sugar and high insulin is the problem. @tyrese5089 2 года назад +19

@@afonsodeportugal Vitamin k2 activates a protein that removes calcium from the soft tissues and arteries and put it where it belongs; which is in the bones and teeth. K2 basically regulates calcium deposition. It is usually recommended taking it with d3.
So D3 absorb calcium from the small intestine and k2 regulates that calcium and put it in the bones and teeth.
There’s several forms of k2 but the most bioavailable are mk-4 and mk-7. Our bodies actually converts k1 into mk4, however, it has a very short half life of an hour. Whereas, Mk-7 last in your body for 3 days.

      @@afonsodeportugal you are welcome, haha.
Also, our bodies actually converts 90% of the available k1 into mk4. So eat your veggies. 🫡. It accumulates throughout the body in the testes, pancreas, kidneys, brains and arteries. Our gut microbiomes actually makes its own mk4, too. But this implies if you have a healthy gut bacteria so get in those probiotics and prebiotics 🫣.
MK4 is a major form but many people simply forget it and recommend MK-7 to others claiming MK4 is useless but that’s ridiculous. The downside of MK4 is the half life too short and you might need to supplement with a higher amount to get the benefits.
MK-7 is the key factor for calcium deposition. It put and lock in calcium in the bones and teeth. Which lessen too much calcium in the blood and blocking of arteries.
      I take both forms.
      Mk4 500mcg
      Mk7 100mcg
There’s no toxicity levels of k2. Studies have shown people in Japan average over 2,000mg of k2 with no adverse effects.
Sorry for too much information. Lol.

Then I got sciatica had a ct scan and they said I had calcification on the discs so I stopped taking vitamin d3 completely and started taking vitamin k2 mk7 for about 9 months now and I feel great now . The k2 at first was making me really sleepy but I got used to it . I take 180mcg daily . The mk4 I think they said it stays in the body from a few hours to 3 days but the mk7 stays in the body for a week . There was a guy on RUclips that said he suffered crippling back pain his spine locked up so he started consuming all forms of mk4 and mk7 in pill form and liquid what he said was he then felt in his spine was like sand , and sounded like all the calcification on his spine was melting away from taking high doses of mk4 and mk7. The most affordable way is to get a supplement with D3 and K2 combined. This way you don't have to buy them separately. Some K7 supplements are synthetic and not bioidentical, I buy the form made from fermented natto.
There are some vitamin K2 in grassfed and pasture raised animal foods, but they are not in high amount. Except liver which is a bit higher, especially poultry liver like duck and goose. Also duck fat. Aged cheeses is a very good K2 source, mostly MK4 with a little MK7. Gouda, Camembert, Stilton are three examples high in K2. Brie and cheddar have some K2. Parmesan and feta have almost no K2.

I started taking D3 on the advice of my doctor to help with depression, I started finding it made me tired and gave me muscle aches and induced anxiety. I started to research the issues I was experiencing and found that I likely was magnesium deficient and lacking in other fat soluble vitamins. I improved my diet and went keto along with exercise and changed my life. A year later I was still learning and stumbled upon k2 information and became concerned since I was taking 10k iu d3 a day so I started eating natto weekly and supplementing 200mcg a day mk7. I found i felt odd, displaced, my muscles started aching, i was tired and my old wounds started hurting. My teeth started loosing the small bits of plaque I could not get to with my floss and I started finding chunks of plaque falling off my teeth. Soon I found my teeth had 0 plaque and my mouth felt better than ever, cavities stopped and mended and tooth sensitivity went away. My old bone pains from ancient injuries started to feel better and slowly any pain I had melted away. Then I noticed my muscles were relaxed, flexible and I could get massages without pain. Flexible and strong. Joints felt better than ever and arthritis seemed to stop. Tendons worked how I remembered back in the day and I feel young again. Not to mention the clarity of thought and presence of mind I have found. I changed alot but I don't think I would be as well as I am now if any of the changes I made didn't happen

What i found out is effective is to consume more foods rich in magnesium together with those rich in k2.
Why, because magnesium ions push out calcium ions out of the cell when the system is depolarised (during muscle relaxation for example). The calcium then becomes free calcium extracellularly. Giving way for K2 to easily sweep it to where it can properly be stored.
If you are magnesium deficient, when calcium enters the cell during muscles contractions, it cannot fully return to it’s relaxed state since there’s no free magnesium to exchange with. Hence the muscle stays active. That’s when people get chronically tight muscles.
So firstly i get more magnesium into the system to fish out the calcium. Then vit K2 will direct the calcium for storage.

An adequate intake of Vitamin K2 has been shown to positively influence the cardiovascular system.
Calcification was once believed to be an irreversible process and a result of aging. However, it is now known that calcium accumulation is an actively regulated process involving the vitamin K-dependent Matrix Gla Protein (MGP), the most potent inhibitor of vascular calcification known, which is actively involved in recycling calcium.22
Healthy arterial tissues have shown to contain 100 times more Vitamin K2 than unhealthy arteries23, and the amount of calcium in the arteries is a risk factor for cardiovascular health.24 One might say that “you are as old as your arteries.” Studies in large population groups show that significant calcification in young persons actually make them older than their chronological age. On the contrary, older persons with little or no calcification may deduct up to 10 years from their actual age.25
The Rotterdam Study (2004)26 shows that high dietary intake of Vitamin K2 - but not vitamin K1 - has a strong protective effect on cardiovascular health. Findings from this 10-year population-based study, which followed 4,807 initially healthy men and women >55 years of age from start, indicate that eating foods rich in natural Vitamin K2 (at least 32 mcg/day) results in 50% reduction of arterial calcification, 50% reduction of cardiovascular risk, and 25% reduction of all-cause mortality.
In 2008, these findings were confirmed by another population-based study with 16,000 persons from the Prospect-EPIC cohort population. Female participants aged 49-70 years at the start of the study, were followed up for 8 years and were free of cardiovascular diseases at the baseline. The researchers found that for every 10mcg Vitamin K2 (MK-7, MK-8, and MK-9) consumed - not K1 - the risk of coronary heart disease was reduced by 9%.27 Unfortunately, the Western diet does not contain sufficient Vitamin K2, so supplementing with MenaQ7® Vitamin K2 as MK-7 is a viable alternative recommended by experts. Breakthrough MenaQ7® Cardiovascular Study Findings from a large clinical study, published in Thrombosis and Haemostasis28, signal Vitamin K2 as MK-7 as a potential game-changer for the cardiovascular health category. Scientists at the University of Maastricht (the Netherlands) performed a double-blind, randomized, intervention study of 244 postmenopausal women given either 180 mcg of Vitamin K2 as MK-7 (as MenaQ7® by NattoPharma) or a placebo daily for 3 years. Using ultrasound and pulse-wave velocity measurements (recognized as standard measurements for cardiovascular health), researchers determined that carotid artery distensibility was significantly improved for a 3-year period in the MenaQ7® group as compared with that of a placebo group, especially in women having high arterial stiffness. Also, pulse-wave velocity showed a statistically significantly decrease after 3 years for the Vitamin K2 (MK-7) group, but not for the placebo group, demonstrating an increase in the elasticity and reduction in age-related arterial stiffening, again, especially in women having high arterial stiffness. This first intervention trial on MK-7 supplements and cardiovascular endpoints showed that 3-year supplementation with a daily, nutritional dose (180 mcg) of MenaQ7® was enough to actually decreased arterial stiffness in healthy post-menopausal women. Studies of the MK-7 intake of Japanese women in the Tokyo region found that by eating natto every day, which is common in that region, the higher the intake of K2-MK-7, the less the risk of bone fractures among post-menopausal women. In other areas of Japan where natto isn't as popular, the fracture rate is higher and on par with fracture rates in other countries such as USA. Natto is sold in Asian grocery stores in little single-serving packets which each have about 400 to 500 mcg of MK-7. So, I think that the Japanese data shows the ideal intake of MK-7 is in that range. In Japan, a synthetic form of MK-4 is used as a pharmaceutical treatment for osteoporosis. The US FDA has stated that there is no known adverse effect of these intake levels or even higher, so it's considered safe by the FDA, but they haven't established a recommended daily allowance of Vitamin K2.

Vitamin K is the perfect example of what to expect when you talk to an allopath (i.e. MD).
Vitamin K "interferes" with warfarin, a blood thinner, so most allopaths will advise you to dial back your dietary intakes of bananas, leafy greens, and most especially any supplements containing vitamin K since warfarin specifically inhibits the recycling of K in order to block the formation of fibrin. You need to convert fibrinogen into fibrin in order to form a clot, so "less fibrin" means "less tendancy to clot."
To an allopath, that means "mission accomplished" since the only objective was to frustrate the clotting process. Nevermind all the absurdities along the way: (1) increased arterial calcification over time due to K inhibition, (2) ridiculous fear of consuming whole foods that a person needs for other dietary requirements, and (3) the long-term mineral deficiencies in B vitamins and magnesium caused by the mechanisms of action for many blood thinners.
