Fleet admiral isn't just brute strength you have to be incredibly smart and very good leadership that's why Sengoku wants Aokiji to be fleet admiral but i have no doubt garp would be able to come fleet admiral if he wants to

I don't. He's an asshole choosing duty. I would get it if Luffy and Ace were complete monsters going around killing civilians and stuff, but Luffy and Ace are the good guys. Garp let his own son get executed even though he did nothing wrong except for being a pirate. At the VERY LEAST he could have used his status in the marines to avoid Ace getting executed. So no, I don't feel sorry for Garp. Not even a little bit.

On the execution day, it's already way too late to do anything within the reach of his power (that's why since luffy and ace were a child, he always tried to force them to becoming a strong marines instead of becoming a pirate). If he were to rebel, then plan failed and he will be branded as traitor and most probably got pinned down by the whole government as well (a very stupid move to make during a full out war, where all the divisions gathered up, it's basically like a stupid suicide act). I really loved how sengoku said "i never asked you to fight" He would be okay with garp letting ace escape and i love that as a character trait. He really was a great fleetadmiral and human overall. The reason he had to let his position go was because he is just not a villain at all
I never caught that back then. He didn't want Garp to get involved no matter if it was to help Ace or the Marines, because Sengoku knows Garp would hurt either the world's idea of justice as he is the point of reference for that, or himself for preventing others of saving his family.

I love how Whitebeard saw all three admirals in action and although serious he wasn't too concerned. When Garp joined the fight however, he was all serious. Probably because out of everyone in that battlefield, he is the only one who knows what it's like facing him.

Yeah but a clash between Whitebeard and Garp would be catastrophic like how roger and whitebeard didnt even touch but it almost destroyed the island had they not stopped. Whitebeard vs Akainu was also catastrophic but akainu's haki was not on par with whitebeards.
Given that probably one of the only Marines whitebeard spoke with respect was garp. Also that recent volume probably shows garp could have killed sakasuki. Hoping for some epic moment when dragon, Luffy and garp pose as a team against one of the 'final boses' of one piece.

Compared to what we've seen when Garp gets even remotely serious, this didn't even constitute as a lovetap. Which is impressive when you consider Marco, the #2 of the Whitebeard pirates, was definitely doing his best.

Fact : After the fight, Marco automatically healed almost all of his wounds, except for the bruise on his cheek left by Garp. Proven Garp' haki is on another dimension. Keep it in mind Garp only used pure armament haki no conqueror involved. Garp' armanent haki > phoenix mythycal zoan's regeneration .
It's even crazier to think how much Garp was holding back with that punch. If he had wanted to, Garp could have splattered macro with one hit. They'd have to scrape what was left of him off of the rocks.
Just realized that Garp really said "you have to kill me first" so many times in this arc. He really wanted to die in this arc so that Ace will be saved. Just can't imagine how immeasurable the pressure that Garp had been through in this entire arc.

After what we have seen in the Wano arc Garp's feat here is even more insane. He hit Marco so hard that he gave him a concussion with a single attack. King, Queen, and Kaido's army combined haven't even done that to him yet. He just stopped an attack from Dragon form Kaido like it was almost nothing. But here he couldn't do anything to Garp.
Garp and Roger together defeated Shiki, Big Mom, Kaido, Whitebeard and Xebec so I'm not sure why some of you are surprised by Garp's power. If Garp wanted to kill Marco he would have without even breaking a sweat.

He just sent Whitebeard's #1 pirate flying. Whitebeard could fight on par with Gol D. That shows how strong Garp is. Edit: Taken everything we know so far in the Anime/Manga, why he denied rank ups to not take orders from the celestials, Rocks D. Xebec and his crew, Gol D. Roger telling the Marines "Bring Garp or Sengoku if you wanna catch me" before his last clash with Whitebeard and Oden, Marco fighting Kaido's 1st and 2nd Commanders, to then go back to this vid to see Marco get sent flying by Garp, pretty much just solidify everything I said about Garp 5 years ago when I commented on this vid. I also love that no one ever mentions when Akainu was fighting the whitebeard commanders, Garp and Sengoku was duo fighting the entire Blackbeard crew, WITH a Blackbeard who just got his hands on Whitebeard's fruit. Sure, he definitely has way better control of the fruit, 2 years time skip, but Blackbeard even stated he didn't care if he didn't fully know how to control it yet, he just wanted to sink the entire Marineford (by even using one of Whitebeard's strongest moves, Heaven and Earth). Aokiji and Akainu are virtually equals, Akainu may have been a little bit stronger, but they were still on an equal playing field. They fought for ten freaking days and completely changed the structure of Punk Hazard. Also, you have to be able to stack up with other Yonko to be a Yonko. And yes, that's how you would usually compare stats in One Piece, by comparing them to other characters in the show/manga. The only times when this is not the case is in the case of the Shichibukai, because they differ in power. You don't have to be all powerful to be a Shichibukai, you just have to do something to please the marines in a really stellar way.(I.e. Law taking out 100 Pirates hearts and giving them to the World Government. Or Blackbeard capturing Ace.) So, saying someone is Shichibukai level would make no actual sense because they all differ in terms of power and we've seen what all of them can do. If Big Mom wasn't at least able to fight the other Yonkos then she wouldn't be one. WHEN ARE YOU GONNA GET THROUGH YOUR HEAD THAT THEY DON'T LET JUST ANYONE BE A YONKO?!
Damn, after reading 1080, Garp definitely followed the best course of action during this war. He really held back for the sake of his grandsons and fought when it was necessary (to boost the marines' morale).

Garps being a bit overrated here, he "cornered" Roger many times in the past this is not much different from the Smoker Luffy situation, Whitebeard is the only one known to have fought Roger to a draw Garp is certainly strong and probably still deserves admiral level but there's no basis for him to be as powerful as Whitebeard

Prime Garp probably 2v1'd Big Mom and Kaido during the fight against the Rocks Pirates. There's a chance he could have 3v1'd against Whitebeard if Rocks was as strong as Roger but we don't know.

He's the only man that could corner Gol D. Roger himself. Many times has the highest ranked in the Marines tried to promote him to Admiral, and if he did, he could probably become Fleet Admiral if he wanted to, but he kept denying the rank ups cause he don't give a fuck since he can already do what he wants. He just sent Whitebeard's #1 pirate flying. Whitebeard could fight on par with Gol D. Roger in their age (prime) but you can even tell someone as dangerous as Whitebeard was, him calling everyone random things besides their name, don't even have the audacity to call Garp anything. That shows how strong Garp is.
Edit: Taken everything we know so far in the Anime/Manga, why he denied rank ups to not take orders from the celestials, Rocks D. Xebec and his crew, Gol D. Roger telling the Marines "Bring Garp or Sengoku if you wanna catch me" before his last clash with Whitebeard and Oden, Marco fighting Kaido's 1st and 2nd Commanders, to then go back to this vid to see Marco get sent flying by Garp, pretty much just solidify everything I said about Garp 5 years ago when I commented on this vid. I also love that no one ever mentions when Akainu was fighting the whitebeard commanders, Garp and Sengoku was duo fighting the entire Blackbeard crew, WITH a Blackbeard who just got his hands on Whitebeard's fruit. Sure, he definitely has way better control of the fruit, 2 years time skip, but Blackbeard even stated he didn't care if he didn't fully know how to control it yet, he just wanted to sink the entire Marineford (by even using one of Whitebeard's strongest moves, Heaven and Earth). That fight was in the background, mostly off screen, but the marines mentioned it in the middle of all the chaos. I'm not even a Garp fanboy, I'm just saying it as it is. Cause that's how Oda has chose to portrait Garp as in his story. The disrespect some people have for Garp in the community, even when the writer himself, portraits Garp as an actual monster, it's gross.

You don't have to be all powerful to be a Shichibukai, you just have to do something to please the marines in a really stellar way.(I.e. Law taking out 100 Pirates hearts and giving them to the World Government. Or Blackbeard capturing Ace.) So, saying someone is Shichibukai level would make no actual sense because they all differ in terms of power and we've seen what all of them can do. If Big Mom wasn't at least able to fight the other Yonkos then she wouldn't be one. WHEN ARE YOU GONNA GET THROUGH YOUR HEAD THAT THEY DON'T LET JUST ANYONE BE A YONKO?!
