- Here's Sam & Ray Stevens live on CabaRay Nashville performing the classic song "Rainy Night In Georgia". Sam recorded his version with Conway Twitty in 1994, but it was originally written by Tony Joe White in 1967 and popularized by R&B vocalist Brook Benton in 1970.

Nice version, still does not give me the feel that Sam and Conway gives me.
Conway has you beat Ray but you did good
It could have been as good as Conways version if you weren’t screwing around.
Poor Sam just couldn’t do it alone or with his music. Always had to swing from from Brook Benton’s nuts or someone else. This is a dumpster fire of disrespect.
