As I sit here in 2024 this song has such a deeper meaning. My grandpa, and Nana who were Conway fans are now gone. The house with the tin roof I listened to rain on has been torn down. I lost a child, and that night it rained within my heart. I wish I could go back to those carefree, little girl days with family, tin roofs, and none of the loss that comes as we become the elders. On a brighter note maybe my grandpa, and Nana are holding my baby listening to Conway somewhere far better than here. Where all is peace, love, and music. 😊
I loved your comment❤I’m reading with tears falling down my face…I too want so much to go back to being a little 5 year old girl at my grandparents house. God bless you and you’re right. Your grandparents are holding and loving your baby. You’ll see them one day😊❤
My husband passed in 2008 listening to this song. Praying for you and me. May the Light find us again. In my last decade and not sure ywhat your future holds. Find and peace peace.
Sending you a huge hug, I shed some tears for you as I sit here and listen to this song and the rain on our tin roof. Everyone should have the experience of rain on a tin roof. I am happy you had that. Take care.
I'm sitting here in 2022 looking at the state of our world, country and today's country music. I go to these videos to unplug for a few minutes. This video in particular, shows we all can have common ground, what pure talent looks like, but most of all, love and respect. Thank you Sam and Conway.
23/8/24. This song still sound the same as the first time I heard it. Just beautiful. Every time I watch this video and see these two amazing men sing this song is the best I smile every time. ❤❤❤❤❤
This version of rainy night in Georgia. Just stop you dead in your tracks, and how can you not cry listening to this, You could see the camaraderie and fun, Sam. And conway we're heading 😢😢😢
I remembered hearing this and seeing the video on CMT in the 90s. It just randomly went though my mind today and I had to hear it. Beautiful song. Ah Brook Benton where are ya son! 😊
Sadly, this was the last trac Conway ever did. Legendary performance by everyone involved in this project, truly giants in the industry and this record and the documentary film are one of the best examples of american music.
I was in a Qiuk Stop in Missouri with a friend when the radio announced that Conway had passed away. We stood in shock,,, looked at each other for couple of seconds. Then tears came,,,,, we still miss you Conway.
First time I've heard this rendition and now I can't stop playing it. Makes you wanna sit in the back of a dimly lit barroom and just think. GREAT job by two GREAT artists! Rest in peace Conway.
This is one of those songs that make you dream... What you lost, what you wish you'd done different, just dreaming of better, maybe. I have the CD Country and Soul, a compilation of duets like this, with songs like "i fall to pieces" Aaron Neville and Trisha Yearwood, which is amazing! But this song with legends Conway and Sam just tore me up inside... And on rainy nights, it's often playing in my room, solace in my solitude... Rest well Conway.
Listening. To David ruffin version of this song and then all that talk you sis goes out the window. No one could do it like David ruffin. Not even Brooke himself could top David ruffin. David was on another level . It's cute about country mix with soul bit yeah David ruffin. Just listened that's all
There are still country stars who emulate his example. Conway will never truly pass, so long as people remember his music, and attempt to produce TRUE country music; with soul, passion, and emotion. Real country music either makes you smile, or it makes you wanna cry.
Tony Joe White is now gone, but his music lives on. This may be one of the greatest songs ever written. When over 100 artists record your song, artists from every era and genre, every ethnicity and from all over the world, you know you wrote a great one. RIP Tony Joe White.
This song was playing on my Mustang radio as I crossed the FL / GA line on my move to where I now live. Nostalgic, 'n it was raining like it does only in the South, hard.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe
A truly beautiful rendition of a truly beautiful song, Conway rightfully pays tribute to Brooke Benton, who made the song famous. I'd like to pay tribute to it's author, Tony Joe White. A fantastic performer too. Thanks Tony. R.I.P
I thought I'd researched everything there was about this beautiful gift of music, but I honestly thought Brooke Benton had written both the music and the lyrics. I'll have to chase down the lead on Tony Joe White....
You could tell just how much Sam admired Conway....both talented in their own way....Conway, we miss you, yet another old Arkansas Razorback gone from us....Levon, Conway, Charlie, Johnny and oh so many more
This was the last song they sang together, as Conway had died before they could again. I still have a Tshirt from a concert of Conway Twitty in Halifax N.S. I stood in line for 2hrs to meet him. What a treat that was!! The Tshirt is still wrapped in plastic from 1977. I was 9 mos pregnant when I waited in line. It was so worth it. I paid 10 dollars for the shirt that is now worth over 200 dollars.
Really hard to believe that there are 152 tone deaf and ignorant people voting on this video...what a shame they don't know true music when they hear it...R.I.P. Conway...can't believe you have been an Angel for 23 year's already....seem's like it was yesterday...Will love and miss you forever
My father was a country western singer and as a kid I remember these guys being a big part of my childhood Men like Conway Twitty Waylon Jennings Hank Williams Senior and my father will always be remembered but the world will never be the same without them in it. It was a time in history that has definitely passed by.
I've read comments elsewhere that some women even fainted at his concerts, they were so overcome with emotion. He had a gift for understanding a woman's needs, as shown in many of his songs. And with his deep voice and sexy Mississippi drawl, he was mesmerizing. He said in an interview that he was singing to the women. . . .but he was talking to the men!

May we ask why. I mean. They real reason. ❤
Love the interplay between these two musical masters. When Conway asks “Brook Benton where are you son?” The pedal steel seems to answer.

A perfect pair. I would love to be in a rainy night in Georgia with these two.

Hello So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song!
Conway Twitty was the Teddy Pendergrass of country music. His songs could make women throw their panties on the stage.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty
This is a great remake of a great song. This is why slow dancing make me happy.😢
Awesome song; no color issues here between to great friends; Congress should take heed and stop polorizing THIS great country.
@Brèagha down hill & never stopped

Robert the soothsayer.
Still holds true-even more in 2020
Congress is a mere representation of the country. Its always been and from the looks of things will always be racist
Conwat Twittys voice is very recognizable.
