- This is just one way I've found it easy to mount the larger 47" XML's on the old split ring deuce and half wheels. For educational purposes only, don't try this at home...
Good video. I know it’s a couple years old but talcum powder is helpful in keeping the liner and the tube from bunching up. It also slides easier.
Thank you for sharing. I was wondering if the super singles tires could be mounted on the original stock rims. Cool to see that they can and that you showed us how. I agree...the larger tires do look better than the original stock tires.
So after they are aired up and seated they are good to handle? I have a deuce that needs tires and I’m going back and forth on using MRAP wheels or not
Great Video did you have to switch the rear hubs ? are 395 ok on the org. rims and ok to carry a medium load? Thanks
I left the rear hubs the same and mounted the wheels like the outside rear dual. The 395's are rated for more weight than 2 of the original 9.00-20's combined. I haven't been able to find a weight rating on the wheels themselves so I'm not 100% on that...
The Michelin 395's are rated around 12,000 lbs load. The four in the back can handle a full load that the deuce is capable of holding. On the stock rims, that I don't know. Mine are on 2 piece combat rims with adapters.
When I was in the military, I was a motor sergeant. Our " 2 1/2 stake body" needed new tires, all of them. So, when they arrived, guess who installed them, ME! All 10 of them with split rim wheels. Very dangerous and have been known to kill people. I was very careful putting them on.

Good video. When you changed from doubles to singles, was it just as simple as not installing the inner tire, or did you have to install any spacers to compensate for not having an inner tire?
I just didn't install an inner, and I ordered more lug nuts like what's on the front.
That brings up more questions. Why does the back take different lug nuts than the front?
@@DannyStanley it uses a cap bolt to hold on the inner wheel and then a cap nut(lug nut) over the cap bolt to hold the outer wheel on. If you google M35a2 rear lug nuts you'll see what I'm talking about.
The m35a2 has what is known in the trucking industry as Budd pilot wheels

where do you get the liner from?
The liner is just the original one, it's width is specific to the wheel, so no need to get a different one.

@josephcarlson1774 sorry to bother you again. I finally got the tires. 395 85 r20. However no one seems to have the 14.00 r20 inner tubes. Also everyone is telling me to use 16:00 r20 for those tires. Is this accurate? What is the main difference of these?
@@GUARDIAN6B I've been running these for 2 years without issue. I just went off of someone that had done this before on their M35.

Is there anything special that needs to be done to only run single wheels on the rear in place of the tandems?
I didn't, but I have no plan to haul any significant weight, although I wouldn't see it being a problem. Those tires are ran as singles on modern 5 tons, the weight rating of the wheel as a single would be my only concern.
I have a 1966 deuce with 900x20s. What do yo have to do to replace the duels on the back? Thanks
Absolutely nothing except leave the inner dual off. It's fairly common practice, and I've had zero issues with doing it.
Did you notice any crazy difference with the steering?
I actually think it steers and drives much better than with the 9.00x20 tires. Its doesn't follow the groves of the road as bad and the gearing is better suited for the increased diameter of the 395's

If you want to get a good work out, yeah. But no better or worse than with the old tires surprisingly.
@@josephcarlson1774 Damn, was hoping it be better without moving, I most likely will still get the super singles just for that speed increase. I have the rim MRAP rims with 52 inch tires. I'm planning on removing the rims and getting the 46 inch 395s
@@hummerguy With a much larger contact patch on the 395's over the 9.00x20's I'm surprised it didn't make it worse really.
Did you have any issues of fronts rubbing when turning?
Turning hard right, just before maxing out, it rubs the tie rod on the steering gearbox. But it nearly has full lock to lock turning.
What color is that? That thing is gorgeous!
Not 100% sure. But I'm leaning towards it being Massey Ferguson Gray tractor paint.
Hey in regards to your supercharged HHR, I’m trying to supercharge my 2010 Chevy Equinox. It also has the 2.4l eco tech DOHC engine. Do you think the set up would be the same? I saw I might be able to use a 2.0l LSJ intake manifold and a M62 supercharger. Any pointers?
I don't know if the LSJ setup would work on yours. In the 2010 Equinox the 2.4 went to direct injection so they have a completely different cylinder head.

What wheels did you use to replace the duals??

Nothing, just used one wheel and tire per side. The original 9.00-20's were only D load rated and the new 395/85R20's are G load rated at 10.5k lbs each, so they should hold up nicely
I've got everything the exact way and none of this is working 😂. I only got one split ring off. No other split rings are coming off. And the one super single that I have mounted on the rim, the split ring won't even go on. I give up😅
First things, first get rid of those hubs.
