- How to install Ikea Lack floating wall shelf without a hassle and in no time at all? The job is rather straightforward, even if you don't have experience it will take you no longer than an hour to complete it.
The Ikea Lack floating shelf has a clean design and discreet, almost invisible mounting. Not only does it look beautifully, but you will also use the walls in your home efficiently as the shelf holds lots of things without taking up much room. Thanks to its sleek, modern style, Lack shelf looks good in every room. It's great to display dinnerware or drink-ware in the kitchen, ornaments or photos in the living room or some cute toys in the nursery. It will be a life-saver for essentials like washcloths, hand soap and candles in the bathroom, or serve as a bookshelf and even a nightstand in your bedroom.
Ikea Lack wall shelf is available in 3 sizes and 5 colours which means you're sure to find the perfect piece for your needs. The floating shelf looks great on its own but you can use a few playing with various composition, lengths and colours.
I have fixed the shelf to the solid wall but different wall material, for instance plasterboard (drywall) requires different types of fixing devices so double check what is suitable for the walls in your home.
So if you are not sure how to fix an Ikea Lack floating shelf to the wall, watch my video to see how to do it.

Thanks now I know how it looks on a wall
Your're weocome
Short and simple. Not a bunch of unnecessary talk and intro. Very good guide.
Thank you
Loved this! Not a bunch of unnecessary talking and beating around the bush. I've had my shelves for months and finally feel ready to install them!
Awesome! Thank you!
@@k-nemo no thank you!! My two shelves are finally up thanks to you!
Merci beaucoup, your video was so useful to me , it's actually the first time I'm commenting on something like this but everything was so smooth and very well explained for once thank God for people like you 🙏🏾 Stay blessed 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Short and sweet! Just what I was looking for, thank you
Thanks for watching and a lovely comment
Brevity is an art form. Awesome work!!
Thank you
lovely thank you very much!
Thanks for the video, however, the most difficult part to me is measuring the wall to make sure the shelf is centered. Thanks again for taking the time to do this wonderful video.
You are welcome!
Hi Sir, thanks for the video, nice, clear & straightforward,
One question, what type/size and how much the bolts you need?
Thank you so much
Hi mate, super video. one question what I have, I have fake wall (filled old doors) and I need measuerement how far is the screws position on that black bracket attaching to the wall for 190 cm shelf. It will be very helpfull ! thank you in advance :)
Hi, the reason the shelves are wobbly is because the IKEA 'screws provided are NOT thick enough' for the 'existing hole' in the metal Rod. So, before you slide on the shelf, you must have and insert an additional plastic 'plug' that fits a little tight and cut it to fit all the way inside. Than, you can slide on the shelf and screw in the screw. That will make the shelf fixated and NOT wobbly.
That will fix your problem.
Thanks for watching and a comment :)
Plz Can you help me? I have the same problem. What do you mean with plastic plug?
Thanks ! 👍🏽👍🏽
No problem 👍

Do we need to find studs in wall for screws? or just drywall is fine
Mine came with no screws they told me i had to buy my own do you know what type of screws this shelf needs?
I’m trying to kno too
Did you figure it out ?
When you say screws are too short and it’s wobbly so you mean the IKEA provided screws or your own? Mine is wobbly meaning when we put the shelf in it slats down and doesn’t hold weight continues to droop. Please help!
Hi there! Great video on how to install the floating shelf. I only received to screws when I bought the Lack floating shelf. Did you had to buy the extra screws ?
Yes.
@@k-nemohi. What size screws should I get?
Hi, are you able to measure the distance between bracket holes for screws? Thanks
Sorry I did the shelf for somebody else
Hi, I just installed a few of these today & the wall bracket is solidly mounted but the small screws added underneath don't really seem to offer much support & the shelf wobbles a bit on the "arms". Do you have the same issue & have you found a solution? :)
It shouldn't wobble, try to use bigger screws. One of the screws I had turned round and I coudn't fasten it properly so I used some glue, a little bit though, so I could unscrew it in the future.
Add a few layers of masking tape to the arms in the middle or near the base to give it a tighter fit.
Mine are a little too long 74” I’m wondering if the screws have to go in the stud because my shelves are heavy.
I attached mine to the brick wall. If you can attach it to the stud go ahead. Alternatively, If you have a drywall you can use special fixings, which will hold it better. Of course it depends what you're going to put on it. I would check Ikea recommendation.
Hey does the bracket come with the shelf or bought separately, like most ikea shelfs, thank you in advance.
Yes, it does. The bracket comes with the shelf.
Would adding more screws make it more supportive or is 5 enough?
Yes, it will be enough
those seem darker than the photo, which for me would be a good thing, do they look like that in real life?
In reality shalves are lighter then picture
what's the name of this black support thing for the wall shelf? Im trying to find it at ikea.
comes with a shelf
Do the screws come with the shelf?
Yes
Merhaba ürünün linkini de ekler misiniz
I'm going to use these in my kitchen as open kitchen shelving so I want to secure the bracket into studs. Studs are generally 16" apart. Does the bracket have holes to accommodate that width so I can secure it to studs?
If the size is okay
You can do it.
I plan on installing the longer 43.3" shelves.
0:11 what is that device used? I think it’s for checking the shelf standoff if it’s perfectly horizontal
And for the drilling machine u used the one from ikea?
0:11 is a spirit level to determine the horizontal position. The drill and drill bits can be anything you like. Mine are not from Ikea.
@@k-nemoI have got one more doubt, are all the screws provided in the package? I bought it today and it’s just a transparent covering, are the screws hidden somewhere in it, still haven’t opened it
what's the weight support of these shelfs you think?
Ikea suggests 10 kg as maximum load but I think it also depends how securely the shelf is attached to the wall. I wouldn't even try to put more than 10 kg.
k-nemo you should of screwed the bracket to studs. The wall anchors wont hold up much weight.
What the thing that you put before the screws?
Fixing. Plastic wallplug.
Did you stain these shelves? Are these oak shelves or wallnut?
I did not paint them. It's a veneer. They are hollow inside. It's Ikea.
Mine wasn’t level no matter what I did it just didn’t sit right on the bracket
Does it come with the screws and their things or it come only the shelf???
only the shelf
It only gave me 2 screws wth. I drove 1 hour and 20 minutes to get this and now I need to drive somewhere to get more screws
What a shame. Unfortunately Ikea doesn't attach the fixings for the walls.
@@ACS402010which screws do we get
@ACS402010 are there specific screws I need to buy or does it not matter?
Hi super wideo i have qwestion how mutch size bolt for anchoring the holder
I don't remember. Probably 5 mm screws.
Did you get from ikea the black holder?
Yes
Is the black thing include when you buy the lack walk shelf?
Yes, it is.
Why did you make only 5 holes instead of using all the 8 holes?
It's in the manual.
Which size screws and pegs?
Pegs 8mm. Screws I do not remember...
Could this be cut to size? Thanks
I'm afraid you can't. The shelves are hollow inside, plus you'll have to finish the edge
Mine only came with 2 screws, do you know what screws i need to buy?
There are only two screwas for the shelves. You have to buy fixings to attach it to the wall yourself.
Different wall need different fixings
@@k-nemo man thats annoying just took off my poster and move stuff from below the wall so i could install and i dont have the fixings. i have drywall where did you get fixings home depot?

This fixing should be suitable for drywall:

Are theu good for books? Strong enough?
A few books. I didn't try to fill the entire shelf with books.
what type of screws did you use?
They came complete with fixings
these shelves are really wobbly and I have no idea how to fix that besides gluing everything like crazy
Maybe the screws are too short. One of mine turned round so I glued it in the end. Don't use very strong glue, you night want to disassemble the shelves for decorating.
Hello Matciej, insert a plastic plug, buy it for couple of dollars. Measure, cut and insert it in the hole. Than, slide on and screw the shelf. ok. Pain in the baam I know. Ikea didnt provide the 'plug'.
I installed this shelf in my son's room but immediately it was sagging. It's like the rods inside are loose. Any ideas?
Isn't it firmly bolted to the wall?
@@k-nemo Of course, but the sagging is not at the wall, it is the movement of the shelf on the metal tubes.
@@calderart Add a couple of layers of masking tape to the arms in the middle or base to make it a tighter fit.
mine is different uses a L bracket
I need a 160 cm floating wall shelf. Can I cut a bit on the middle away and will be everything fine?
There may be a problem. The shelf is empty inside.
How to buy the shelf?
I mean what is the name of this thing?
Ikea Lack shelf
Whenever I screw the nails in to my wall, they aren’t fully tight, they’re still loose, do you know how I can fix this?
Have you tried drywall anchors?
@@wapao98 Thanks
Weight suport?
Not much. A few kilos.
Mah...
What is the width and length of it?
This one is 26 cm x 110 cm, but they are available in 3 sizes, 1:40
@@k-nemo ok thank you i think I didn’t see that part
No more WOBBLY. Read my comment below.
Thanks for watching leaving the comment. My shelves don't wobble, but your absolutely right. If the screws are too short they will.
