#3 is perfect for house music, but for drum and bass/dubstep, would you have to create 2 different instances of EQ8 for the kick and the snare, and pay attention to the frequencies taken up by both? Would that not result in a very highly ducked sound? Genuinely curious as I’ve been producing for 16 years, and have experimented with tonnes of different sidechain techniques, never found one that doesn’t lead to pumping when I’d rather not have pumping.
Hi there! There is one thing I desperately need in Ableton DAW - ability to mix two audio tracks, like with the same sound, or vocals, or to overdub an audio on the already recorded audio track. Is it possible?
thanks!!! i was looking for the shaper + utility!!!! 🎉🎉🎉 i wish there was a simple M4L that does this without mapping stuff, for the Push 3 (like that Kickstarter plugin)
Thank you for your video, it is very useful ! Sorry to look stupid, I tried to find a link to Ableton Project file of the track which played in this video. Where is it located?
6:10 why wouldnt you use MIDI Shaper and sidechain it to the note of the kick? Not all drum patterns are 4/4 or fall or even beat grid. Btw, subscribed 😊
I always try to shape kick and bass with equalization and sound design first, making them fit into a "bottom end pocket" which will be entirely filled only when kick and bass are overlapping, but with the minimum possible amount of masking. I don't even need sidechaining most of the times.
For god sake please stop teaching people to sidechain low end with a compressor. This massive GR will make your bass sound like ass on a big system... Although compressor has this sidechain option, it is not designed to do this stuff. All PML tutorials and templates use this technique and it's no good. Other techniques are alright but you're introducing phasing with EQ. It's best to use plugins that are designed for this purpose.
Awesome tutorial thanks for sharing!!!
Very nice explanation, thank you sir
What a great video. Thank you Borys and thank you PML. You guys are the best.

You want your sidechain to begin 5ms before the kick, because of ringing etc. Will reduce peaks by a lot 😉
With the lookahead you can make that ?
Nice!
Interesting. Could the 3rd technique be done with a multiband compressor as well?
I guess it could because you can automate by Envelope follower almost any knob and parameter in Ableton
Yeah this is possible!
Are shaper and envelope follower new to Ableton 12? How have I not noticed these
Nah on 11 also
@@joshsutton-smith1245 huh thanks!
Yeah, it's from max for live.
or maybe you can use MB Comp
soothe 2 does this very well ;)

I feel like 1 and 3 are almost or pretty much the same
Get rid of the bed music…. Very distracting…. Rest of the content is great…. Just no need for filler music
😂😂😂😂
Interesting video with boring music…
