I just wish that all of the people who say that songs don't need screaming in them, I wish they could hear this because this is an example of something that can't just be sung. It just has so much more emotion to it.

    • @Nickr3000
      @Nickr3000 10 лет назад +15

Absolutely. That's what makes it even more emotional.

    • @ThallanarRabidtooth
      @ThallanarRabidtooth 7 лет назад +14

Precisely. Studies have shown that screaming can relieve tension and stress (even though you are putting your lungs and chest through a lot of tension and stress, it does a lot of good things for your brain).

You left some hope instilled in me
That I never should give up on anything
I know this made you proud of me
So this song remains for those who hurt like me.
The man in black. He rides alone to a final destination unknown.
The man in black. He rides alone: he's moving on. Not coming home.
I used to be the fearless one.
Living each day like death would never come
Now I feel his cold breath on my neck
He's watching my steps and telling me that I could be next.
I used to be the fearless one.
Living each day like death would never come
Now I feel his cold breath on my neck
He's watching my steps and telling me that I could be next.
Before I used to take these wings and I'd fly so high
(I'd fly so high. I tried.)
Now I live in regret never coming down to say goodbye
    Oh why can't I?
The man in black. He rides alone to a final destination unknown.
The man in black. He rides alone: he's moving on.
    I can't follow.
So make way for the man in black
So make way. He's never coming back.
I am so lost at sea
Ryan, shine the light for me
    I'm sinking, I can't swim
I need you here to pull me in
I am so lost at sea
Ryan, shine your light for me
    I'm sinking, I can't swim
    I miss you brother.
    You will never dim.

Thank you so much for posting these lyrics. I have a friend, a brother, Eric who I think about everyday and these words mean so much to me. I am in tears every time I think about him and how much time has gone by without him. I know he is here with me only because I would never have made it here without him. His light is part of what keeps me going.
      So sorry to vent.

This song is insane and I can relate so much, 2 months ago I lost my older brother to suicide and his name was Ryan. This song has helped me let out so much emotion I've been keeping bottled up and that was filling me with resentment towards this world. Music has the power to save lives and I encourage people to find the healing side of music on the daily.

This song takes me back to the good ol’ days with my close friend Brett Kearley, who passed away in August of 2013.
I have the lyrics “you left some hope instilled in me, that I never should give up on anything” tattooed on my lat.
I only listen to this song but once a year or so cause I instantly become an emotional wreck when I hear it.
    I miss you brother.

There is nothing more meaningful for a person that has lost someone than to write a song for him to which thousands of people all over the globe sing it loud, be it in their bedrooms, in their Mp3 players or even when watching this live. Ryan may be dead, but he is brought to life when thousands of people sing the ending verse of this song.
    Rest in peace bro.

I heard this song for the first time ever in rehab about 8 or 9 years ago. It struck a fuckin nerve, and I get hardcore goosebumps still to this day when I hear it. My name is Ryan, and I always listened to it like my brother was singing it to me. I’m sober today and doing very well. Made me think how I never want my brother to be lost at sea. That Last verse was like my brother screaming “Ryan shine the light for me” because I was gone from an overdose. I’ll be seeing you guys in 3 weeks in Boca Raton, FL, and I hope you play this! I’ll be there with my brother. Thanks guys, this song made a huge impact in my life!

Whenever I hear this song I think of my brother. He loved to be on the water, he grew up by it, he worked on the water pretty much all his life and he ended up drowning. At least he went out doing what he loved. I miss him terribly, and I am very sorry for your loss.

RIP Ryan...not a day goes by without thinking of you. And for anyone bashing the song Cuz its not traditional tgi...its not. Its Jonathan's pouring out his heart and soul for not only a lost loved one...but his brother. I grew up playing baseball and soccer with these guys and the bond they had is like no other. Reminds me everyday to never take those memories for granted because you never know when the man in black could come...

This song really has helped me with the death of my girlfriend back in 2010, Im so glad i came across this in 2012 otherwise i would not be here producing music exactly like this with my band With The Wolves. This song hits so hard at home, I cry every time RIP Sophie Openshaw, and RIP Ryan. There both in a better place now.

This song is really hard for me to listen to... All I think of all the time when ever I do is my poor 14 and 12 year old cousins who are now Father and Motherless... I can't even imagine what their going through... If this band ever sees this comment, which I highly doubt they will, I just wanted to say thankyou for making music like this. No other band has ever touched my heart more than you guys ever have

At the age of 13 I had a friend take their own life. It was hard for me, not the death, but that I'd never see that person again. But it wasn't until recently just before I moved back to my home state that I lost another friend. This time to cancer. She was the cleanest person I knew. Never drank, never smoked (anything), and actually held a strict diet. She was doing everything you'd imagine would help live a long, and happy life. She started her battle while I was out of state. But I tried rushing back for a tattoo we were meant to get (I got it by myself). But two days before I was to surprise her she lost her battle. I flew out that same night to make the service the next day. I heard this song randomly on pandora a few days later...and wow did it hit me hard. It's true, since her passing I can't help but think when is my time? I smoke cigarettes (I know, shame, shame), I drink on occasion, and overall live a much unhealthier lifestyle then she EVER did. I don't fear death, but just the fact that tomorrow could honestly be my last and there's no way of telling, but until that promised day comes (death is the only thing promised in life). Very quickly this band is becoming one of my favorite. They really speak from the heart.

wierdgamerTV Not sure if your trollin' or not. Could honestly care less. But if your being serious you should know passing judgement like that, you yourself will not get into your beloved heaven. I don't believe in heaven or hell, and IF, thats a big IF, they really do exist I know where I am going. But you don't seem to. Before you cast a stone, know where you stand in your own god's eyes. I live my life happily and free from structure religion. Nor do I judge those who choose to believe. But I will without regret judge those who try to belittle others for their difference or lack of belief.

+Brian Rothwell A guy i knew drank, smoked, did crazy shit all the time. Had a bike like mine, wheelies, burnouts, running from cops, never once did he wreck or ever got hurt riding. One day he was watching TV and an anuerism popped and lights out. 30 years old. Death never makes sense, it always seems to get you where you least expect it so live everyday with no regrets. Having a healthy lifestyle helps. but when it's your time to go it's your time to go.

***** I'm sorry to hear that story of loss. Must've been crazy when you first found out. But I completely agree with you, don't be destructive with it, but live life. We like to believe me have the keys to life, and living a long one. But then again, life can play a cruel hand. I've found peace accepting death is coming regardless if we're ready or not. If we meant to die or not. We are promised the moment we are in right now, not a min more. Hope life has treated you better since that moment you shared, and thank you for sharing. Means a lot to me, you'd understand since you've lost people in sudden moments as well.

What an incredible song. No one can put into words the depth of such a relationship that Vigil had and continues to have with his brother, deep in his heart. Moreover, this piece is a homage to how fragile life is. One minute you're here, and the next you're gone. Rest in peace to Ryan.
