I bought the xd9 subcompact after watching this video several years back. I've put thousands of cheap Tula rounds through it and never once, did it jam. It's a great, reliable firearm.

Springfield is my prefered sidearm glock is overrated to an extent. Thing is ive never broke down a hand gun. Went to try to then felt like i was gonna break something or do something wrong so i havent cleaned it yet....thing is its still soooo accurate

I personally own this firearm, a Shield, and several Glocks. I carry my Shield the most because it "prints" the least. The XD is my 2nd most carried because of it's capacity and wonderful ergonomics with the extended magazine. My G26 & G19 are my third choice. I really enjoy your videos Mr. Hickok!
Mike I’ve got the XDS 45 and it’s a really nice concealed carry with no print. The grip is good and is single stack. Really great with my Galco holster. My buddy bought the holster for his Glock 27 originally, but sold the Glock. He gave me the holster for free and it’s a nice little setup.
Just got mine not quite two months ago and it’s even better with the green fiber optic installed in the front! I’m using this for USPSA style shooting and wow - ride that trigger hard and it loves you back every single shot!
I think he could shoot with a bottle of windex spray and still hit that gong. And like all his videos they are always interesting and entertaining. Thank you Mr Hickok45!

I go back and watch his videos over and over - I love this guy, he gives you all the info you want but he makes things FUN. He's the kind of guy you would would want for an Uncle or a Grandpa that you could visit on a weekend or in the summer and just listen to his wisdom as well as having a blast shooting.

I found a xd9 in a local pawn shop also. Mine was $400 with 3 mags, double mag holder, mag loader and a holster. I love my xd more than all my other pistols

I'm an xd fanboy every since I shot one I fell in love and I've had glocks and Smith & Wesson but I must say to me you can't go wrong with any xd guns

Agreed. Starting in about '08 and up to the present, I've owned +50 handguns. I've settled on the 4" Mod 2 XD9 and the CZ 75 Compact D, also known as the PCR. IMO, nothing comes close to these 2 pistols in dependability, accuracy, feel and affordability. I carry both in Clinger IWB holsters (uh, not at the same time.....) and occasionally in an OWB leather VersaCarry holster. I've had numerous Springfields and Glocks, S&W's, Kimbers, Rugers, Walthers, Keltec, Para Ordnance, Sig Sauer...you name it and IMO S'field and CZ are tops. With 17+1 and two more mags of 16 each on the hip I've got 49 rds. Why? Because it has become comfortable to do so, therefore, why not?
For under 400 in small ccw frame with a high round capacity in a flush mag this gun is a BOSS and beats all competition.
This model is 750$ at my local shop in California that price made me sad

I was planning on the Ruger American Pistol, but the dealer steered me to the XD9, mod 2 regular size. I really like it. The "grip zone" makes the gun feels like it could almost fire without my help. It is so accurate!
I've had mine for about a month now. Accurate, capacity is awesome. Little heavy but keeps muzzle flip to a minimum. Did I mention capacity? Hard to find a ccw that holds that many rounds. I love shooting it. Smooooooth.
for a 3 inch barrel, i am able to get groups close to my 5 inch guns. its great.
GamerNxUSN trying to figure out how to word this reply. This is something about double stack compacts that I think a lot of people are overlooking. Hell I was one, I had my M&P 9, and my M&P Shield, and didn't really give the 9 C much of a look. Then I shot a buddy of mine's version of the gun in the video, and decided that I would give the 9C a try. First day on the Range blew me away. The shootability was much closer to my full size then it is to my shield. I don't know if it's the wait, the thicker grip, I don't know. I do know I have no problem connecting at 30 yards with a 9C, and have to concentrate to get 25-yard hits with the shield. There's just a big difference, and I think it's more to do with that compact size then it is to do with any brand of gun. But really they're about the same dimensions as a single stacks, just a little thicker and a little heavier, but you get a lot more gun.

Finally! I had just been gripping the slide whenever I shot my pistols, but now I know where the correct Grip Zone is thanks to Springfield!
For me, when discussing a CCW, I prefer the Springfield simply due to the grip safety. I pocket carry the mod2, and with a Vetter pocket holster and the grip safety, I really don't worry about an AD or ND. Thank again for you reviews and your style! Be well...
+Squeeze, based on your comment, I looked up the Vedder pocket holster--the "Pocket Locker" according to their website. I only see a pocket holster for the Springfield XDs, not the mod.2. Is this what you have? I have the XD-9 mod.2 subcompact with 3" barrel. I've tried a couple of pocket holsters but it seems too big for my pocket (although maybe I need to wear looser pants!). Anyway, if you can confirm the holster, I'll order one of these and try it out.

RacerX wow u pocket carry this. U must have huge pockets then because this in no way qualifies as a pocket gun. Its a double stack heavy 9. Xds lc9s even the shield can get away with pocket but this to me is way to big.
I just picked up a brand new XD Subcompact about 3 hours ago. I live in the People’s Republik of Kalifornia so mine is the old original style. The newer versions are only available to LEO’s. My hands aren’t necessarily small, but small enough that I prefer the flush magazines over the extended one. As for you missing, it’s still damn fine shooting for a subcompact. As everyone knows, they’re made for shooting folks at the distance of that 2 liter that got you all wet, so to hit things at those longer distances like the gong is pretty damn good. I sure as hell wouldn’t want you shooting at me. Another great video as always and much appreciated,

Michael Truhett what makes the newer version illegal in Commie-fornia?
The newer version hasn’t been sent to the Commiefornia DOJ to be torture tested in every way to where they feel it’s safe for civilians to own. Law enforcement officers are exempt, so, they probably sell enough of the newer models to where they aren’t going to sacrifice one of their new pistols to basically be destroyed. They also have to add a loaded chamber indicator. Something that sticks up or whatever so that anyone can tell the gun is loaded. The other thing is the firing pins have to be micro-stamped. A microscopic serial number that stamps that number into the primer of a spent shell casing every time the gun is fired. Which is ridiculous because number 1 it doesn’t work, number 2, one or two passes with a file on the firing pin and that number’s gone. 3, it costs the manufacturers of firearms a ton of money to have that micro-stamp engraved into the firing pin. There may be some other reasons, but those are the ones I’m aware of. Commiefornia as you call it does everything possible to stop firearms from being sold in any way they can think of. If it was up to Governor Gavin Numbnuts, nobody could own a gun here. That candy ass son of a whore spends more time in front of the mirror than his wife does.
I actually chose the XD mod2 BECAUSE of the grip safety!
I'm in the market for it for the same reason. Best of both worlds, way I see it.
The Mod2 grip is Nice but i still added a little tape.
what do you think about the xds mod 2 with the 7 rounds and the 8 rounds and nice round. but I like the xd mod 2 because of the 13 and 16 round clips it's better for my pinky

The grip safety is great, I practice rehostering with my hand grip relaxed such that the safety is engaged so there is no chance of an AD on holstering. I just feel more comfortable.
Putting my 29sf away and going back to my XDM9 as my CCW. Had kind of forgotten about it, a shame because it's such a fine pistol. Thanks for that!

Shot a few guns. One of my abdolute favorite accuracy and reliability guns. Shot steel, aluminium, brass, no failures. I am amazed.

I have medium size hands I went with compact 45. Pinky fits without extended. Recoils surprisingly well. Love the trigger safety and grip safety. Indicators have never failed despite the fact that Glock claims to have “less” parts. Smooth positive trigger brake. And it does not point in the air when I bring up the sights. Xd are great guns

I don't understand why every gun manufacturer wouldn't send you every new gun to test. You're marketing for them for free. They just have to send you the gun. Springfield is smart bc they see it that way. One T&E gun makes tens of thousands of sales for them.

I like this new design - definitely feels right for those of us with smaller hands. The one thing I think could have made this thing perfect (and could be a good update to the entire XD line) would be the ability to manipulate the slide without engaging the grip safety, as can be done on the XDS. I think that's an exceptional feature on the XDS, particularly for clearing malfunctions and one handed manipulations under stress.
My grandfather bought me this at 16 to teach me about fire arm safety and shooting at the range. At 22 now still has never jammed or failed and so comfortable you don’t even know you’re carrying it if you are!

Just bought the bi-tone 9mm version today, traded in my nano for it. Fits in my hand so much better than the nano and of course much higher mag capacity.
This gun is AWESOME. It’s my EDC and I cant say enough good things about it. Maybe I watched too many Banderas movies in the 90’s, but I carry mine at 5 o’clock in a Sticky holster. With the 13 rd mag, you can’t see a thing.
It’s EASY to shoot and safe to operate.

It's easy to forget sometimes how much skill it takes to shoot AND HIT as consistently as Mr. Hickock45 does. Every time I manage to get some range time I'm all like "Damn! need more practice.."
just bought one!!!!!!!! Don't have a CC license but working on it so I'm waiting on the five day mandatory waiting period in my county! EXCITED the least to say!
I like the Springfield Xds more than the glocks. The grip just seems to fit my hand better. Better texture and size. I like the feel and I'm able to get much tighter shorts with it versus the glock.

Chuck McCracken that's what I'm after. A flush mag with hi cap 2 fingers worth of grip. Just weighing my options, I have glocks mostly but if they work, they don't have to have the word "glock" on it. Been looking hard at the p320 subcompact or m&p9c mainly
I have this gun , have or have had everything from Taurus to kimbers and honestly this one is my favorite to shoot . Just shoots great , no jams , recoil is fine . Just a great gun with a decent price tag to boot

The grip comfort and light recoil makes the XD mod 2 a pleasure to shoot. The XD mod 2 fits my hand like a glove.

@@GiDD504 The trigger take up and reset. I really like the HK VP9sk too. I feel its as comfortable as the Mod2 SC to shoot and feels just as good in the hand but lacks the capacity of the Mod2. SC. Luckily both can take larger mags for Home defense.

I used to live in taxachusetts, too. Moved to FL. Couple of years ago, while trying to decide what to get, went ot Springfield MA and shot the M&P40. Was so disappointed in what I shot at the factory shooting range, I'm still surprised that anyone likes anything they make at all. Went with the FNS40 and think it's the best 40 on the market. Plus it's ambi which is great for us lefties and those who train strong hand/weak hand.
Recently purchased a G19 & XD Mod 2. Personally, I like the Mod.2 better but that could just be that it's new. Have a G30 that will now be home protection and XD my everyday carry.
The XD has a longer trigger reset than the Glock, but the trigger pull is consistent and about the same as my G30 (after 3.5 trigger mod). You can't go wrong with either.
Brought the MOD 2 45ACP SUB COMPACT and man is it sweet. Tucks away nice in the Dara AIWB RIG with Tac-Belt. Sweet shooter and eats all of its food.

I just bought the mod 2 5" tactical from buds.had it sent to ct.because the guys I buy from could not get it.i was told there distributors don't carry it so they cant get it.watching Hickok had me check buds, and I found it and bought it.i will be shooting it on mom 11-14-16.thanks Hickok,thanks buds guns
Bought one of these a year ago and have yet to fire it. Guess I will now though. Fun watching this fellow enjoy shooting. Don't know about hitting a target 50 yards out with a 3 inch barrel though.
King of the compacts, and I own M&Ps. Lol A ferind of mine has this pistol, I got to put about 70 rounds through it one day at the range. It took a second to get a feel for the trigger, but I was blown away. Great pistol, in a great size, with really good capacity. I like it better then my M&P9c.

I’ve had this gun for 4 years now and NEVER had any problems with it. This is my every day carry gun and I would trust my life with it. It comes with a flush 13 rd mag and an extended 16 rd mag. Gives you great flexibility when your out and about. Check one out !!!
Do you have the subcompact or 4 inch seevice model?
First off the fiber optic coming out isn't a big deal. They are just cut and melted in. It's a 2 second fix. Idk why everyone is making a big deal about that. They send you extra green and red ones anyway. Maybe while he was playing with it he tried the green didn't like it put the red back in and it wasn't melted properly. Or maybe springfield was in a hurry to get him one to try. Either way it's irrelevant if it falls out. Then the oh I know where to put my hands I don't need to be told. It don't say place hands here does it? They have the texturing done in the places you grip that's it. Some ppl just have to hate and it seems to be mostly glock guys. I swear between hating on every other gun and thinking glock is the only relevant gun glock nuts are kind of annoying. They watch other gun videos just to hate. Why because every glock looks the same with the same junk sights and same mediocre trigger. So who cares if it's a 19 or a 27 the only difference is size with 0 actual changes. So let's go hate on other guns for actually making them better.

Picking one of these up next week. As a 1911 guy, I gravitate to pistols with thumb safeties, this will be my first without one, but it has a lot of other safety features that make me feel comfortable with it, I think. I guess we'll see!

Your review and use of this great little gun makes me wish the UK had the same or similar Gun Laws as the US in many ways, but then I guess there is a real chance we would have every robbery loaded and there would be a lot more gun deaths.
Hope you get better soon, I am going through a similar chest thing except mine is not an infection as yours probably is but I have asthma and that gets aggravated from time to time and mine was started again with the fireworks in November.

Actually, we have very low crime rates now, the lowest in 60 years, which many people attribute to the upsurge in concealed carry here in the States. Even New York City, which does not allow for much concealed carry and has stricter gun laws than most of the Country has lower crime rates than your London for instance. So even if you cannot really draw direct comparisons between our two Countries, I don't think more gun freedom would mean increased shootings in your Country should you get the right to bear arms. Criminals are still criminals, and good people are still good people, and free men should go armed.
I should add that an argument can also be made that freedom of choice for women about abortion once instituted a couple of generations ago, could well have resulted in a decrease in crime rates as well. There are studies that have found that less unwanted children resulted in less crime as time went on, but just as with gun rights, there are people who hold opposite opinions. It is quite possible that both the increase in gun ownership and less unwanted children have together reduced violent crime.
00:24-00:47 is the most inaccurate I’ve ever seen Hickok shoot. That being said- he’s still a dead eye shot and is extraordinarily talented. Major respect for this man here.
Hey he still shot pretty damned good considering that is a sub compact pistol he was shooting. I will stay say I have never seen anyone shoot any pistol that good. Never!!
Worst I saw ever also but saw her just needed to dial into it. He shot the closer range stuff the second round and it gave him a better feel for the gun and then third round he was nailing the king shots as always even with such a short barrel and all. So in the end he still blows my mind with his speed and accuracy on this one. Still makes me scratch my head 😂

Sweet shooters. Sights are/were awesome. Trigger is great. on par with any striker fired gun. Will cycle everything I've ever fed one. Only downside is the high bore axis. Only reason I don't carry one.

I shot a few mags through my buddy's mod 2 - 3" earlier today and I was impressed. Really sweet gun. If they lose the grip safety I would buy one tomorrow.

Just shot mine for the 1st time today. Absolutely love this gun. I already had a Shield, and a glock 43. The XD mod 2 is a much better fit for me.
