    I've struggled with sibo for years until I realized the root cause was my low stomach acid which was throwing everything off. Soon as I added some betaine HCL and got my acid back up, sibo cleared.

    Thannnnk you! My sibo got much worse (and turned into sulfur!) when I went low fodmap/ high meat/high fat, the more I cut out the worse it got! Sulfur sibo got better interesting when I started NAC and Glutathione! I think all that extra fat and protein increased LPS + ammonia from undigested protein and that took its tool on my body's detox pathways. Still working on it, if only I HAD found you when I first started this 2 years ago rather than 6 months ago. I was diagnosed with SIBO in 2014. In addition to my SIBO results, I was also diagnosed with mono and a lengthy list of food sensitivities (gluten, eggs, dairy, corn, pineapple, and yeast). At first, my doctor had me follow a low carbohydrate diet for a few months while also eliminating my food sensitivities. I felt better, and I had a bit more energy. Shortly after, I adopted a whole foods plant-based diet for health reasons and ate salmon weekly for 6 months (while still eliminating my food sensitivities in my diet). I felt even better, my bowel movements became regular and my energy levels increased dramatically. Following the 6 months, I was convinced that I was better off not consuming any animal products and for ethical reasons I decided to stop eating salmon too. For the last 7.5 years, I have enjoyed a consistently healthy life and I felt like I healed from SIBO by following a whole food plant-based diet. Recently, I have entered a new chapter in my life and my stress levels have increased. Before I was aware of my increased stress I felt a shift in my health. I have since been able to acknowledge my newly increased levels of stress and have been prioritizing sleep and exercise which has helped a ton. After a lot of internal turmoil I am now open to shifting my diet. I look forward to future studies that are grounded in science to help me truly heal from SIBO once and for all. Best of luck to everyone on their healing journey.

    I have severe deficiencies.. It could be anything, so , now my nutritionist has put me on molybdenum and c vitamins, based on what I told her I cannot tolerate and my symptoms, and when they occur. She thinks I cant produce or transport sulphates, due to the lack of this enzyme-starter, caused by prolonged nutrient malabsorption.. So I cannot basically detox since the pathways are constatly stubbord. At this point I can't even produce glutathione. we'll see if it gets better. I suggest everybody to start from these videos but THEN see a nutritionist (biochemist) with expertise on sibo, maybe autoimmunes and most importantly, deficiencies. Because you will have many, for sure. If you are stuck with even 1 severe deficiency on trace minerals, minerals, vitamins, for whichever reason, you'll get stuck forever. For instance I cannot use phenols, flavonoids and many sulphites on the supplements. NAC is pure poison for me. Think that if you're consistently taking one faulty supplement, according to your starting condition, you'll never get better and fix sibo leaky gut autoimmunes etc, no matter what you do. Good luck everybody

    Random testimonial about carnivore that's probably useless lol: I've had histamine intolerance virtually my whole life and it wasn't until a couple of years ago that I even knew what it was. I have not been tested for SIBO since seemingly nobody knows an easy solution for this and I don't really want to take antibiotics (my father came down with Steven Johnson syndrome during cancer treatment). One month ago I did carnivore for one week and my health has vastly improved. Before my blood pressure was like 135/90 and I was salt sensitive. Now I'm no longer salt sensitive and my blood pressure is now 125/85. I was able to eat extremely high amine foods like canned sardines, beef sticks, pizza, etc. without getting numerous histamine flareups. It's now a month or so later and some symptoms are coming back like runny nose, but so far, personally, it had a huge impact on my health. Looking back at the last month I've actually been eating a relatively low salicylate diet. I was thinking of trying an aspirin to see if that was really my issue this whole time (which I hear could also be caused by SIBO). I did have bloating, etc. when eating fodmaps and I still get bloating if I eat a ton of them, but the reaction seems to have lessened overall. I definitely still have work to do. Thanks for posting your videos online!

    I am doing a whole food plant-based low FODMAP diet at the moment. I think that is the healthiest way to do it. But the amount of fiber and resistant starch is still fueling the bloating. I think the only diet extreme enough to possibly cure SIBO is the elemental diet or carnivore (unhealthy). But that is pretty extreme and you still need to treat motility and other things. I’m about to tackle other areas.
    I’m not sure about lactulose vs glucose breath testing. Drinking that much glucose at once isn’t healthy. Lactulose isn’t absorbed. Glucose is quickly absorbed in the intestines, affecting how much is available to the bacteria to create the gasses being tested for. So it seems neither one is perfect. But it seems lactulose is healthier and can work fine as long as you know how to read the test results.

    Really interesting point about the low fodmap diet and elemental diet! It keeps symptoms at bay, but doesn't address the sibo. I do low(ish) fodmap some of the time bc I fear the painful cramping and urgency from high fodmaps. 😓
    What are your thoughts about Biocidin? I feel like i got worse after being on it for 6 weeks. I wonder if i stopped it too soon though.

    • @francescopagnini4583
      @francescopagnini4583 11 месяцев назад

      Low-ish is not enough.. If you want to eradicate sibo for good, you have to see a biochemist and have one diet and the right supplements. Note that if you even have a severe deficiency of 1 trace mineral you get stuck forever. many have adressed b1 deficiency for gut motility basically. many have adressed the b complex for producing enzymes and HCL. I was binge watching these videos for a year, with no result whatsoever, now I got to see a nutritionist that told me that maybe I miss molybdenum, which is involved in enzyme production, and vitamin usage, so basically I thought I was doing good with the supplements when instead I was intoxicating my body with unusable waste, thus worsening the condition. I have an autoimmune and leaky gut, so, If I fuck up once, it's two weeks of hell, minimum. She put me on molybdenum and vit c, I do yet have to start. But that's a complete new level, gives me hope, she's speaking fair, with a much more complex logic. Not reachable by ouselves alone.. She studied and tested this for years with all her different patients. So I suggest you to get one. Follow Dr Ekberg if you're in the US, he's got a clinic, I don't remember where.. Good luck

    • @francescopagnini4583
      @francescopagnini4583 11 месяцев назад

      For me I couldn't make use of phenols and flavonoids, and If you got my condition, you cannot tolerate salycilates, histamine, tyramine etc.. So if you got this condition (which is just one of the many) you getting herbal teas, herbal antibiotics, lemon juice, iodized salt etc, is pure poison. Until you find your deficiency and get your body machine up working again. Sad that, if you don't look it for yourself, you'll never get in touch with those professionals.. Talk about conventional medicine..

      @@patrickjuan6057 where to start? My glucose breath test was negative. Dr agreed to still prescribing me xifaxin after I do some stool tests to check for pancreatic insufficiency, c diff, parasites and inflammation. I had to suggest most of those things. My B12, B1, d, ferritin are good. CBC good. I quit Biocidin after a couple weeks MORE of taking it. It was a major cause of cramps and stool issues. I started taking probiotics and it helps. Changed my digestive enzyme to a better one too. And, we got a new fridge about 10 days ago bc ours died. So for a little bit, I thought maybe the food in my fridge was making me sick, bc I did notice when I would eat out or eat at someone's house, Id be okay. So that very well may have been part of the issue bc our fridge didn't seem to be getting as cold as it should for a long while now. But I'm still testing foods and having issues and struggling to figure out which foods are the culprits despite logging food, bowels and symptoms. The issue is, I think I get the cramping sometimes the next day. I'm just not sure though! Interestingly, I am off work from Xmas Eve through new years and today is the first day since I've been off that I've had cramping. I've been eating cookies, eggs, and cheesy potatoes and all kinds of foods that were bothering me before... Now they don't seem to (in moderation) while I'm off work.
      As I said though, something set me off today finally, and I'm trying to figure out if it was the small serving of French vanilla ice cream and tiny serving of Parmesan cauliflower I had the night before, or the English muffin with jelly I had this morning bc the cramping came soon after eating the English muffin, but it's ice cream and fibrous veg that bothers me.

    I think most of these diets work because they limit the fibre intake. Once you are healed you should introduce fibre slowly back to diet. So first eat only the foods that are easiest to digest (sugar ang glucose) then after a while introduce fructose and lactose. For some people this means eating only white carbs and sugars until healed (as crazy as it sounds). Some might tolerate fruits and cooked vegetables. Think of baby foods. Meat and dairy might be too difficult to digest at first. Beans, cruciferous vegetables, salads and raw foods are the last thing to introduce back to diet. Fresh ginger in hot water aids digestion.

      - Going back to "basics" in the sense of "what does a human body (with or without tummy troubles) need to be HEALTHY?" This includes things like sleep, stress management, balanced nutrition (fiber, vitamins, minerals, protein, etc), movement, connection (with nature and other humans).

    @MrYorickJenkins 11 месяцев назад +2

    I fail to understand your claiming not to understand the argument presented in the paper you cite that the carnivore diet can starve SIBO but low FODMAP cannot. That may be true, that may not be true, but on what basis do you claim that the proposal is in itself illogical or contradictory? I am baffled. I can see nothing illogical or contradictory inthe findings of the paper. Whether the finding and conclusion from it is correct or wrong in proposing a carb exclusion diet is another matter entirely.
    As for your contempt for lactulose breath tests, if you are going to dismiss a test which has become standard, I think you should properly explain why it is inadequate in your eyes and also why so many professionals still recommend it.
    Most people who take a breath test, be it glucose or lactulose test, are likely to be suffering from SIBO by the very nature of the fact that the majority of them will have a long history of negative diagnoses behind them, negative colitis, negative Chron's, negative cancer negative intolerances etc etc behind them, meaning many possibilities that explain their sickness can be excluded in advance, so that statistically most of them are likely to have SIBO, that is common sense, surely.
    If a test, one which in your opinion is very unreliable and "throws up a lot of false positives" , confirms them as having SIBO, albeit an unreliable test in your eyes, the likilihood that they have SIBO is somewhat higher is it not, and surely way over 50% even if the test is unreliable. And what are you precisely saying is wrong about the lactulose results anyway? If someone has way over baseline hydrogen or methane or hydrosulphide, what does that signify other than an indication of overgrowth? Where does the excess gas come from if not from fermenting bacteria and/or archea?
    The main thrust of your critique against lowfodmap and implicitly also anti-biotics like rifaxamin and herbal treatment sounds plausible. However, personally I would prefer it if you were more explicit in yur disagreement instead of just making not very subtle hints. Can one take it from what you are saying, that Dr Pimmentel with his confidence in rifaxamin is proposing something of very costly and only transitory benefit? I think that is what you are saying but if it is, why don't you dot the i's and cross the t's and say so?

    • @francescopagnini4583
      @francescopagnini4583 11 месяцев назад

      low fodmap is still fodmap, few rice is still carbs, leafy greens are still fibers, and so on. That's the deal. It really depends on how severe your condition is and how stubborn you are. Low fodmap can be good for light sibos with no complications (leaky gut, autoimmunes etc.) but why risking? My self , at my worst I couldn't even tolerate 40 gr of lettuce. That means feeling shit for two days, joint aches, brain fog, depression, anxiety, passing out, POTS, weakness etc. Because Sibo byproducts of the eating(their shit), and also part of the LPS, part of the faulty digestion, part of the undigested whole food bolus, got in the blood stream through my leaky gut. And that's not funny at all.. Actually it's the opposite of funny. There you have 1 clear example.

    Seems like a lot of carnivores go from 10-20% gut diversity to the >90% range , i guess the meat (zinc, carnitine, carnosine, creatine ) and fat and salt, give the body the nutrients to make stomach acid and it rebalances the gut with the help of bile. Some people don't get enough choline so bile is not properly working and they don't get the results they wanted. And cutting out carbs starves candida and other bad bugs that love sugar.

    I started doing low fodmap just to control my worst symptoms. I'm not perfect on it 😆. I still am eating animal crackers and some soft cheese. I also have some garlic and an occasional onion. But if I do too much regular food or eat more I feel horrid. I'm trying to treat it and doing this diet while integrating the less restrictive low fermentation version that pimentel suggests. I'm def getting enough protein 😆 maybe too much 😂. For reference my hydrogen was 130 over baseline.. landed me in the hospital.

    Can you have SIBO without showing inflammatory markers? Supposedly positive for SIBO but have had many blood tests which are completely normal bar for a slight folate deficiency

    • @gutmicrobiomequeen
      @gutmicrobiomequeen  Год назад +3

      This is more complicated to answer than you'd think..
      On the one hand, I have seen many people diagnosed with SIBO who didn't have elevated inflammatory markers. BUT, as I've researched the accuracy of SIBO BT and proper interpretation of these tests more recently, I've realized something: SIBO is ridiculously over-diagnosed. So, there is a high, HIGH likelihood that MOST people who are told that they have SIBO in fact to NOT have the condition.
      Of course, I'll be making videos about asap (explaining why I say that and sharing the research), so stay tuned!

      @@gutmicrobiomequeen Does this mean that those who show no inflammation are unlikely to have SIBO?

    • @gutmicrobiomequeen
      @gutmicrobiomequeen  Год назад +1

      It depends how you define SIBO. If you use older, more established criteria (before it was over-diagnosed so much) then that logic is correct. If you want to broaden the diagnostic criteria (as has been done in the last ten or so years), then maybe. But then we need to acknowledge that we are labeling something much, much less severe as being "SIBO."

      @@gutmicrobiomequeen Very interesting - I took the breath test for SIBO, but seems in literature this method is very unreliable. Its rather frustrating as I have all the hallmark symptoms (weight loss, inconsistent stool, possible malabsorption) but I've had every test under the sun (mri, blood, stools, you name it) and everything comes back healthy! Wonder if a similar kind of dysbiosis is the cause, but with research so dry it's basically impossible to tell!

    On the topic of diets i see others in the wider gut health space proposing that all grains are bad for gut health ie glyphosate and inflammation from them, curious to hear your take on grains & microbiome success?

    • @gutmicrobiomequeen
      @gutmicrobiomequeen  Год назад +1

      This is a great question!
      First, I will say that there is a LOT of fear-based misinformation out there. And, unfortunately, the functional medicine and naturopathic medicine community is the cause of a lot of that fear with their over-use of elimination diets and food sensitivity tests. And, I will share that I used to be "mostly paleo" in the sense of severely limiting grain consumption and believing they were intrinsically "bad" or "inflammatory." Thankfully, I have done a lot of reading since those days 😉 and my opinion has come full-circle.
      Based on the current state of the literature, excess simple carbs like white bread, sugary treats, and soda are bad for our health, but whole grains are health-promoting. One example: From a microbiome stand-point, whole grains are known to feed/boost beneficial, SCFA-producing bacteria like Faecalibacterium p.
      There will, of course, be outliers who say that grains flare up their symptoms, and I'm not going to discredit their experience. But those folks are the minority, not the norm.
      Gluten-containing grains are a bigger problem... but again, the internet and the func med world makes it seem MUCH more common than it actually is. Amy and I just posted a whole episode about the gluten question if you'd like to learn more! ruclips.net/video/bt8ujwVRftg/видео.html
      Hope that helps!

    This is all very confusing. Low fodmap?SIBO? What the hell. I have night sweats and was told that that might be due to excess bacteria. Can't you narrow the focus of these videos a little? Too confusing. How about defining some of these acronyms you are constantly throwing around here?

    Ok so…. You said elimination diet does not stop SIBO and just makes symptom relief. Then you leave us hanging about how to find why it keeps growing and coming back. This is so frustrating. I have spent money on so many of these offline SIBO doctors that talks I’m circles and no change. We are forced and have no choice than to continue to have SIBO and take antibiotics. People don’t have money just to spend in SIBO coaches. Especially when nothing changes.

    Thank you , Doctor! I was having a very hard time wrapping my head around the fact that if the antibiotics do not work and that I would have to stay away from my favorite nutritious foods, forever. The first round of antibiotics treated the H.Palori that caused the SIBO, but the doctor will need to prescribe a different antibiotic cocktail for the SIBO. This makes more sense to me… I will continue to eat my favorite foods until my 2nd endoscopy next month and wait for my doctor to provide instructions on a treatment that actually works. I do not have the time to deal with a “diet”.
