sills are exterior only this is how to make a window stool please correct title and you should know this if this is what you do for a living
You should change your title to "a tool" because you definitely are one 😂🤣
This is a window board not a stool. Yes a sill is external, but most people use the terms interchangeably.
in some places it's called sill, even internally
Don't mind this dudes comment. Karen's comments don't matter!! It's comments like this that just go to show what we are dealing with from day to day.
Don’t be an ass most people call this a sill even though it’s incorrect. So he’s got the right name in the title if he wants people to find it.
That cracked me up, when you threw that plastic one 🤓👍
You are a life saver, we have a house that had awful i mean awful low quality window board sills all that stuff that peels. replaced bathroom and all rooms now after watching your video with natural woods and look so much better. thank you for posting this video dude!
I am glad my video has helped you! 😊
Dude I am so glad I found your video. I just got done drywalling and mudding my daughter's room I built in the basement. I just bought a piece of poplar to make a window stool. Watching your video gave me the confidence to attempt this myself. Thank you
Dude, the video was simple, nice and well made. Keep up the enthusiasm and good work.
P.S. Sill or Stool or Board. Doesn't matter - Forget people who are picky. I understand, when someone corrects you, but when they say 'you should know if this is what you do for a living'.... I mean, why? Sigh.... some people just can't be without belittling others....
Teach, share your knowledge, but not at the behest of making others feel small
Thank you for the awesome video! I love the contrast of the natural wood; it's highlighted against the white.
You made that look way easier than I suspect it is
Great job! Beats a rambling commentary as well!!
Love the idea of using butcher block. I have used grsnit in the same way for bathroom niches. Amazing work two thumbs up 👍 👍
Really nice tidy job, perfect and love the colour of the sill
I made my first window sills today .
Thank you👍
This makes me happy!
Nice job, the window sills look great!
Thanks! 😊
I like it, good job!
Good job...
That is beautiful craftsmanship. Very nice.
Thanks mate!
Just thought to do that myself, thanks for sharing
Love the video! =D thanks for posting
Looks great
Great job 👏🏼
Amazing craftsmanship - keep it up. Can I ask how much of a overhang you kept on the cill horns?
Great job! This helped me come up with ideas for mine.
great project - craftsmanship is splendid. I hope the oven door (when opened) doesn't catch the edge of the window sill though?
Thank you! Yes I had the oven door in mind when building the sills. It misses it by 10mm. 😉
Beautiful job! I personally would have used a belt sander to round the two corners vs. a saber saw, but that's just me. 😁
Looks nice. I wasn’t sure if I should but dry wall first on inside edges of window but I like how did it with dry wall first on inside. I will do it that way as welll and then use caulking
BEAUTIFUL ❤
This is great but would be awesome if you could include links to the products you used (I think you can even make money from affiliated links if you do that)
That was a lovely video
:)
Great help, thank you. 😊
4 Xs for the waste piece, you were taught well 👍
good idea and Great Job!
Thanks!
Nice work
What did you rib all over the wood to finish it? Thanks!
Good work!
Funny thing i have the same tools bahco ruler, makita tracksaw 👍🏼💪🏼 greetings from Latvia. :)
I hope that you can open your oven after installation of your new sill ;)
Anyways awesome video!
Looks great.
What's the adhesive you are using to glue it down?
Thanks! I used whatever I had. In this case it was high temp adhesive. 😉
Thank you for sharing!
Dude Awesome! I think I can do it!
Awesome! Let me know if you have any questions. 😉
Hi
Fantastic
Is the wood from a kitchen worktop ?
Thank you
Thanks!
No, but it is leftover from an other project. 😉
great video! my same thoughts on plastic window sills. btw what tool did you use, that is like a triangle, level and ruler???
Thanks! I think you are referring to combination square. It is a great tool to have!
@@CraftAndu yes! Thank you, I already have the metal triangle & rulers, that new tool will be handy. We are starting to remodel & I’m going to build these windows sills. Thanks for the great vid!
Will be giving it a go. Was going to put plastic sill in to save time but will give the wood a go.wish me luck I am going to need it, wood and I have a very strained relationship. !!
I wish you all the best! Let me know how it goes!
@@CraftAndu ok I have to now confess I went to garage to find some decent wood and a 10ft piece of white plastic shelf was there on the shelf! I swear I didn't know I had it. There wasn't a long piece of wood so I folded and went for the plastic. ....I know .....but if it helps I do have another 2 sills to do so I will definitely give them a wood finish. I will send a pic.
I know it's like confessions, but what can I say I'm weak.
Nice I will be doing this as you did thank you for this awesome video
My lady will give me brownie points for sure, 😁
Wow 😯
is there a way to not use glue? i am thinking of screwing them in, but wouldn't want the screws to be visible
I can't think of a reason why screws would be better than glue but if you are certain then I would recommend drilling a bigger hole, sinking the screw head well below the surface and then pluging the hole with a dowel. Good luck!
Nice video.
With regards to the caulking, what if your walls are not white?
Then I would recommend acrylic sealant. It can (and should be) painted.
I’m going to do mine just like you!
Thanks
What did you used to coat the ash?
Wood oil from Osmo 😉
what glue did you use under the board...didn't seem to be standard gripfill is all
It was some random silicone I had laying around - might have even been. heat proof silicone. It does not really matter in this situation as the sill is not going anywhere.
@@CraftAndu Ahh fairysnuff...I was lnt suggesting it would go anywhere...just wondered if you had a go-to for the job as it looked unusual to the norm at least
Hi..what was the stuff u used on the wood..called...please...love the shelfs...can not beat wood effect..
It's a wood oil from company called Osmo (German I think)
@@CraftAndu thanks..4 taking the time to reply..
Hi
What type for wood did you use and where did you get it
It is Ash and I got it from my local wood supplier
@@CraftAndu is it solid ash off cuts all glued together? Ive never seen it like this only as a solid plank of the same timber
What materials did you use to stick the wood and to seal the edges?
Caulk 😉 White one for the edges.
@@CraftAndu thank you
Like your discipline
What type of gloss did you use
Gloss? You mean finish? Osmo oil
Those look brilliant!
We're redoing the kitchen and have some beech worktop left over. I'll definitely be doing this when the time comes!
Just one question, does the oven door open?
Awesome! Yes the oven door opens without any problems! 😉
Which thickness is best.?
I reccomend 18mm plywood. All info here: www.instructables.com/Simple-Rooftop-Tent/
For finish I use beeck natural mineral oil or shellac
🥺🖤
Very true, 7 people outta 10 will call a stool "sill", but that is beside the point, here the issue is that when that piece of wood so tightly inserted in place will get some moister (and that will happen) I believe you'll be in trouble.... just sayin....
Do you sell these?
They are custom made for every window on the spot.
No leveling ? 😮
By eye, bro :D
I rather paint it white it looks much better
Paint hardwood? Son, you are delusional! 🤔
You don't caulk a window board by the window
Lovely job, but using fingers for finishing off caulk 🤮
The window cill is the one on the outside of the window. The internal one is called the window board. You did a great job though!
You mean the one inside is called a window STOOL.
What glue do you use to glue it on the wall
I started with woodglut plans.
Splendidly to see woodglut have new plans which helped me save some money and energy for this construction.
Kas midagi tasuks teha teistmoodi (vahe õhu liikumiseks nt.), kui akna all on radiaator?
Hmm, hea küsimus. Ma vist ei teeks - pigem ikka kindlalt kinni.
