I've been trying to find a good and affordable chair for years now. Tried a few gaming chairs and decided they're not for me (mainly due to the headrest, they always seem to push my neck forward, and the back only feels 100% comfortable if I'm slightly tilted backward). I'm finally selling my latest gaming chair and ordered this one from IKEA, even after seeing a few bad reviews. I must say, you put me at ease! I was worried about the headrest and the seat depth. I'm 1,76m and not all chairs feel comfortable height/leg-wise. Thanks for a great video!
Thank you Lenard. Great review, helps me out to understand how to use it at best.. I was struggling so badly to find a chair that will fit my height 190cm and skinniness. Got a chair second hand, but in a perfect condition.
Good that you point out the dust part, because vacuum cleaning is sadly not enough. One thing that keeps me front having a chair with a mesh back is when I tap/punch it from the back. It collects SO MUCH INVISIBLE DUST. It ticks me off bigtime.
I didn't find that it kicks up any significant amount of dust when touched/moved. The mesh mostly "swallows" very fine dust and fabric particles which don't fly up when you tap the mesh, but they're easily vacuumed. People complain about this on the Herman Miller Embody as well. You have to compromise for comfort, otherwise you'll be sitting on a flat wooden slab.
Haha :D Bad wording I'm not punching my chair but the I am not so sure about the fine dust not moving when you tab the mesh :) It's true that you have to compromise but not for comfort (some parts). I sit on a full leather office chair and it's way comfier than any mesh chair I have ever used. The downside to that is that the summers are rougher and you need some leather products, but nothing too bad.The biggest upside is that it's way easier to clean which I do regularly because a friend once showed me some bacteria culture samples on office chairs for her degree. @Local Bluebird I mean if you look at it microscopically, you probably can never escape micro dust. ;P Leather never really made sense to me in a chair. I have owned this same chair for three years and it is now due for a replacement. I'm also 183cm but at 100 kg the seat padding has given up on me and called it a day. Wasn't the worst purchase I have made considering the price.
@@Lenard_S.Sadly the warranty is very limited, and only covers manufacturing defects. My seat is pretty bad as well, along with the casters being quite worn out, but the warranty didn't cover any of them

Just wanted to add my experience with this chair incase it helps someone. I've had this chair for a couple of years now, and for me everything works well except for one major problem: the headrest is too far away to be used without bending my neck right back. For context I'm 169cm tall, and 90kg when lean, with a broad and deep back. With the chair upright and my posture upright, the back of my head is 10-12cm away from the head rest. I'd always wondered why the chair was built like this, or why it didn't have a depth adjustment to allow me to bring the cushion closer to my head. After watching this video, the answer seems clear; the chair must have been designed around a person with a lighter frame. So for those who are bigger built, this chair (or whatever similar model has now replaced it) might not be ideal for you. Other room for improvement: being able to tilt/adjust the angle of the seat seems like a curious feature to omit from a chair with adjustability being its big selling point.
Thanks for sharing. Yeah, the head rest has a peculiar design. If you're thinking about the angle adjustement of the seat cushion - that would be a lot to expect at this price point. I think I've only seen that in some Herman Miller chairs.
You are not touching the headrest because you have a condition called forward head posture causing you to slump forward. Most people suffer from this from years of bad posture using a computer or from looking at a cellphone all the time.
@@yohan2437 I actually do have this, and am trying to correct it. However, in order to rest my head, I have to bend my neck back, beyond neutral, to the point where a) it hurts my neck, and b) puts my line of sight at the top shelf of the desk. Den er 3499kr, hva faen IKEA Norge? 3675SEK, 335$ or 336.89EUR! WTF!
You are beautiful ❤️
ikea markus is a lot better
I like Ikea Markus better!
All personal preference!
I always recommend (forgot to put it in the video) to test it for yourself in the store if you can. Even if you have the same frame as me, you might have different seating habits.
@@Lenard_S. No it's not. Markus is objectively better
For people watching this, this chair is absolute gabage. buy the markus or get a real chair.
elaborate.
@@Haunter-pl3zt the net of the back will hold for a month and then stretch (I'm the lightest person in the world). It's not good for long sitting, the lower back support just pushes, not supports. It's more shaky and loose than a 10$ chair and every week you need to tighten the "screws"
My net has held its shape. Makes you wonder about quality control. ;/
I agree that the back support is not comfortable and just digs into your lower back. I've set it to lowest it can go and it mostly gets out of the way. But yeah, not comfy. I believe you could also not install it if it bothers you.
I had issues with the back screws as well, but have since tightened them like a bridge bolt, and they've held up since.
@@Lenard_S. You can't not install it. If you remove it, then you'll see that your net didn't hold its shape and it's the terrible back pusher that keeps it stretched
Are you into men? Because you are cute. 💋
