Hi Vizio, I bought your tv 12 years ago and it still works. I wanted to buy a new one, but there's 2 issues. Please consider making a Roku tv, and also go back to the center pedestal type stand. Many of us have tv tables where it hangs off the sides. The new tvs can't do that. I hope this message reaches your engineers. Thanks!

Just set up Vizio 50 tv. This is an excellent, very helpful intro. Had the problem of it returning for updates for about a half-hour. But eventually it turned on. It’s working beautifully.

Vizio TV Smart cast and watch free are the absolute worst thing I have EVER bought. And they jerked me around until I couldn't take it back to the store. They told me they would replace but first I had to put the amount of the TV on my card then once I got the TV and they got my return they would release my funds. No way in hell am I going to put out double the cost of a TV I hate and have it held in their account ( collecting interest) for a month. I'm on disability I could barely afford the piece of crap I have. And I spent more on theirs than almost the exact same setup. You know the more it costs the better... I have to unplug my TV almost every night before I can watch it and then all the programs just stop saying problem with playback on live TV? Right Sorry thanks for letting me rant

I have a new Vizio, TV, model V505-J01. It did not come with an owner's manual, and I cannot find "pause/resume" on the remote controller. It's not on the menu either. I went online to the operator's manual, and did not find it there. I contacted Vizio in their chat room; they took my comments and assured me I would get support to answer my question--for $1. What kind of BS is that??? I need to know how to pause/resume. Is that such a technical question????? Why is there no owner's manual that gives such a basic instruction?

Don't connect the wifi during initial setup. Bought one today and out of box was stuck on the 'TV will restart' screen for 2 hours. Unplugged and powered back on 3 times. Finally got it to work by unplugging it and moved it to another room. I skipped the connect to wifi and was finally able to start the GUI. Connected the wifi then went to update manually and it finally updated. Wasted 5 hours SMH. The initial auto update is very buggy and works for some and not for others. Seems the software needs to load the TV menu first for best results.
You're lucky you only spent hours. I've been weeks and I'm still not getting it to Cast. I don't have WiFi and everyone who tells us what to do keep referring to it. It refuses to find/link to my phone. It worked for months when we 1st set it up but after it Crashed I had to do a factory reset. Then It loaded some updates and now I've lost the Cast feature. I have 3 Vizio TVs and I swear I'll NEVER buy another one Again!!! They should never sell it without getting all the bugs out.

@@marcusaj9131 Yes I actually kept trying over and over to get it to work, I believe it is mostly to do with your wifi strength. It took a while but I kept backing up and redoing it if it failed and eventually it just worked. I know that's not really a solution lol but every time it failed I just backed up a step or 2 and redid it and let it try to load it again and it eventually worked. I will also let you know that after that was all taken care of, the smart TV functions were working fine (the built in Netflix, etc) but once I tried to use my switch with the hdmi nothing would show up, the screen stayed black. To fix this after trying and trying, all I did was unplug the TV for 30 seconds and plug it back in, and then it worked perfectly 👍

I did find out it can be changed to go direct to TV. Click on input and select Settings then scroll down to “System” then scroll down to “Input at Power On” then toggle to “Last Used TV Input” there ya go

I may be wrong but I think the recent automatic update messed things up. I would disable wifi, reset the tv so it goes back to original firmware and get a cheap roku or fire stick to stream. Disabling WiFi will prevent it from auto updating
When I’m on Dish Network, the picture doesn’t fill the whole screen. I’ve played with the Input Picture Settings but that makes it all weird looking. Any advice??

Mine did that too. VIZIO support said hold input and volume up for 10 seconds. It will switch input to hdmi 1 and you can switch back to open smart cast manually.
Same... the way I fixed it was instead of setting up the wifi at the beginning skip through it all and then connect after you can go to the menu and settings.. good luck everyone
@Dionne Brown I don’t watch “channels” on mine. I’m assuming you have an antenna? I would check the zoom option. So, when you are viewing a channel that is not filling up the screen, press [PIC] button on your remote. See if that changes anything. If you get an error, try pressing [WIDE]. One of those buttons should allow you to resize the input video, effectively filling up the screen. It may also be that the resolution of the video input does not allow for the full screen video. In that case, try watching HD content. If that fills up the screen, you should then come to the conclusion that you aren’t receiving an HDTV signal for those channels, rather, an STV signal- Contact Vizio or your TV antenna manufacturer to troubleshoot further.

i had this tv but then i had to get sent back cause one of the usb ports Wasn't working so i had to take everything apart to get shipped back to the store in New Jersey and really liked that smart tv tho

Every time I turn the TV on it goes directly to Smart Cast can that be change to go directly to the TV without using the input button on the remote.

No wifi? then buy a cheap Antenna. Note u can also use ur hotspot on phone as wifi too .
Don't buy cheap antenna. Get a decent antenna and quad-shielded RG6 coaxial cable to reduce signal loss.
