Physical assessment is the baseline of everything we do in nursing and is the first step in the nursing process.This video includes the demonstration of a focused abdominal assessment in a head-to-toe fashion. It emphasizes the order of inspection, auscultation, percussion, and palpation.

Hi Tompat, patient assessment is one of the biggest parts of a nurses duty and job description. We are the eyes and ears of the providers and often detect changes in patient status before the provider arrives. This helps patients stay safe, well cared for and many times helps to prevent complications.
