Oh, how I love that Don Blanding poem! My mother lived in Hawaii for many years, and was good friends with Blanding. I have all of his books, which were lovingly inscribed to her from him.

Reading your beautiful poem... I have spent almost 60 years feeling the same. I have just sold my house and am buying a little narrow boat (on a residential mooring in England) and travelling. In the past year I have been to Spain, Norway, Portugal, Gibraltar, France and Morocco. I am now in France for 7 weeks then off to Norway and Iceland, hopefully followed by Bali. Life's too short not to do what's in your heart x

I also loved the poem. Women on the whole love their career & home but need a break to renew their inspiration & enthusiasm. This is why John & Tara are such a good couple. They love their farm but need to satisfy their wanderlust as well. I think you're living your life well as you have a similar outlook. That doesn't always happen.
Crusoe was having the time of his life, honestly I reckon by the age of ten he will be doing his own projects to rival his dads. It’s so refreshing to see how confident and imaginative the little man is 😊 adorable to watch xx

Having almost reached the age of sixty, I would say, looking back, do as much of your adventuring while your body is young and flexible and resilient. Not that the urge to travel necessarily goes away later on, but sometimes health issues arise that make it less enjoyable or even possible. So glad you’ve gotten away for a bit and hope you feel your batteries recharged. Your children always make me smile. And thanks for sharing that lovely poem.

What beautiful words my husband and waited till he retired to do all our travelling it was not to be he had a stroke and stopped all our plans ,how I wished I'd have listened to my heart and done it years before .

That was such a special gesture. Sharing your first veggies is so similar to something that I like to do - gift the first of a fruit or veggie harvest and the first bottle of whatever I've preserved. It may even become a precious and lifelong habit. 🥰
OMG, that little scene with Tara doing damage control (foot on yellow pipe) took me back many years, visiting friends' homes with little ones in tow, trying to have adult conversations with your eyes on your kids the whole time!
My mother was so right. Those days do pass quickly though at the time it did not feel that way.
That poem was excellent, it's called "when responsibility calls".
Cameras are great. I put one up to cover the cat door as well as the house entrance and its good to be able to see the cats are fine. Also, it is very handy to check on which family cars and people are in or out as well as general security.
I also see whose cats are visiting in the night. I love the ap on my phone, can check the 4 cameras anywhere anytime.
I didnt think to aim one at the vege garden or the other animals. Might have to get a few more cameras.
I have 4 cameras in my chicken areas. This gives me such peace knowing my girls are safe. 24 X 7. Yes I am a helicopter mom with my girls.

Loved that poem ...... beautifully put. Great to see you have time away from the farm for a bit, must have done you good. I introduced you to my daughter in law yesterday, who says you're right up her street and she'll enjoy watchng you while sitting feeding a vey hungry 7 week old! With a 3 year old too she's not had much time for the garden this year, but loves growing veg and flowers, and they're having a good crop of strawberries this year,and we picked a few peas yesterday. She's looking forward to geting tips from you!😊

In my country at least one wing feathers is cut carefully not to hurt the bones and that stops them to fly high.

I’m so pleased that you have met Drew and Britney. I have followed them for a few years and I am so happy to watch what they do with their property too. I started with Bea and Theo, then came Drew and Britney, then came the Newbys, The Scotters and I think everyone is moving to Portugal., lol. It does look like a beautiful place to live though. You guys should all get together once a year in different parts of Portugal just to compare notes on how things are going and to learn from each other. It would be fun to see how each channel portrays such an event. 😊

A beautiful poem Tara. Thank fir taking us with you on your trip south. What a project they have set themselves. Your holiday looked so good - connecting as a family in such a different way to your usual everyday.
just a few lines in to that poem and I fell for it. what a gem! I have a lovely habit of collecting poems, sayings and quotes, yet to be ade into something tangible or painted on wall, so I can look over them all (there's hundreds). this one is the latest addition to bring a smile to my heart when I read over my collection.
