Too late now, but I numbered each board we had to take off a wall to insulate inside- great surprise to see there was no insulation in a large, old house in Northern Alberta. Everything goes faster and you don’t make any mistakes. Most of yours are the same size anyway so it’s probably fine. Love the Puppy.

Yes! I was just thinking that, to have to painstakingly take each piece off one by one and then put it back again seems like such a hassle. But they do it because it's the right way to do it, and they may have feelings off camera, but they keep a smile on their faces, don't whine or complain, just get to work!

My elderly neighbor, when I told her my jam didn't set, asked when I picked my strawberries. I picked a day after a rain. She said you had to wait a couple of days after a rain to pick them...too much water in the fruit. She lived to be 97 and canned almost to the day she died. Her mulberry jelly was unbelievable! She asked my sons to pick mulberries off trees that grew wild, so rewarded us with some product. They never refused. Her jams and jellies were that good!

Sometimes life is like your house. Now hear me out, I believe that someone out there needs to read this. Sometimes we think we’ve built our lives just the way it should be, but later in life we’ve discovered that we’ve built our lives with missing pieces, a dash of toxicity, and even some neglect. Sometimes we need to take two steps back before we can move three steps forward. Sometimes we need to take down some of those hurts, habits and hangups that weren’t good for us, and replace them with healthy ones. Because if we just try to add them on top of the negative, there will be leaks along the way. The trick to life is take your time, build it right, and if you need to tear down a little bit to make adjustments and additions, that’s okay! ❤ I love your channel, Ludo is adorable, and the strawberry jam looks delicious! I hope you have a blessed and happy weekend, and it’s always a pleasure to see you all! ❤

I have a little secret for you. take your berries and crush them ( I do mine in the ninja) measure what you need per batch and then I put them in vacuum bags (don not seal) stand them up in freezer , freeze then seal. Now when it is 30 below out we make our jam. Somethings you can't do that with but you sure can with berries. Keep raising those kids right your doing what God meant for us to do.

When we had to sterilize jars for canning anything, we had a long flat cake pan that covered two burners. The pan was big enough to hold about eight widemouth quarts or a dozen pint regular mouth jelly jars in one steam bath.
You put about an inch to 2 inches of water in the pan. Turn on both burners and we stood the jars rim down into the water and boiled/steamed the jars for at least 5 minutes, rim down into the water.
Mom would take the jars out as needed to fill with tomatoes, beans or jelly and the hot jars would dry themselves.
When she removed the hot jars from the boiling water, she would have me drop the lids in individually to the hot water to sterilize them while she was filling the jars. This also made the rubber seal more pliable. The lids were then ready to seal the jars before processing.
Mom canned everything from applesauce to pickled watermelon rind yearly, using only hot water bath method. She really disliked pressure cookers, and never owned one.

    • @ruthw1079
      @ruthw1079 3 месяца назад +2

....just a heads up though, with this method of steaming the jars, you must keep an eye on the jars because when they get hot, the jars will vacuum the water up into the jars causing the pan to go dry with no water.
Turn the burners down a bit and with a potholder or the jar tongs, quickly tip one side up to release the water out of the jars, back into the cake pan.
This was my job too, as helper.

He was a farmer All of his life and he had so much knowledge to share.. He was about 20 years older than myself and A great man. He was so patient through the whole process and I was and will be forever grateful to him by taking his time to teach me this incredible process... Bernie also taught me how to make homemade grape juice with the grapes grown right there on the farm in Puyallup Washington... What a beautiful man, and an incredible teacher and the memories I have of him I will never forget...Thank you for teaching your children all of these wonderful ways of making memories together and having the best Strawberry jam EVER.... They will carry this with them as I have and I just learned this beautiful gift 2 years ago at the age of 56.. Blessings and Love to you All 🙏❤️🙏

The jam looks great. In all of my years of canning and freezing, I preferred strawberry freezer jam. The taste was just more enhanced for me. Try it the next batch to see how you like it. There is pretty much no fail to it. I can't wait to see the expansion done.

don't mean to be bossy but I am worried about your daughter sitting up on the counter working with hot foods. A few years ago I was canning and one of the jars burst and threw boiling hot food all over the kitchen. Please be careful and keep a distance and be able to move fast when canning.

Melissa yes it will come back to them you and Jeremy are forming strong memories that they will remember when they are off on their own with your new grand kids. Loved the work on the connecting breezeway to the Gabby addition. Lotsa of work but better to do it right to avoid water infiltration. Loved the strawberry jam making and giving the animals the ends of the strawberries it looked like they liked the treat. Such a loving and productive family. Until the next one be safe and prosper.

Ludo is being quite the Supervisor! That is wonderful, even though he might slow you down a little bit! Those little bits of puppy love, fills the ❤ with lots of Joy! He is such a Sweetheart. Your garden looks wonderful. The driveway looks so nice & has to be so much better, not too be tracking in so much dirty or mud into the house. Gabby is almost done! Happiness is enjoying your labors of love ❤ & Appreciating Gods Blessings❤

Trout is a big fan fav in our house. Son fishes. Kids fish. So we have rainbow trout a lot.
How I prefer to cook it is in aluminum foil packets. A bit of butter salt and pepper a slice of lemon add fresh dill if you like it. Or any herb. 350 about 20 minutes
Can be done on a grill too.
    Easy quick and fresh.
