    Is that the preferred method, or should we run the engine in a bucket of fresh water, or with "muffs" over the water intake?

    Can you make a video for a Suzuki 6 HP. Very different setup than this. Thank you!

    Don't these outboard engines have heat exchangers like inboard engines or is it raw water cooling only?

    • @SuzukiMarineUK

      All Suzuki four stroke outboards are water-cooled

      I am fairly certain that most outboard engines only have raw water cooling. I have never seen an outboard engine with a heat exchanger; but that doesn't mean they do not exist. My understanding of marine heat exchangers is that they are mechanical devices that are designed to transfer heat from the high temperature cooling fluid that is being pumped throughout the water passages inside the engine block and head(s), to much cooler water (raw) that is being picked up from outside the boat without mixing the two different fluids. The cooling fluid is one loop, and the raw water is a different loop. The two loops come in close proximity to each other, without actually mixing, in the heat exchanger, where the hotter fluid's high temperature is transferred to the cooler fluid which is then pumped overboard. A raw water (only) cooling system picks up water from outside the boat (raw) and runs that water throughout the cooling water passages inside the engine block and head(s).

    then why is it when I change my internal anodes the motor has mud, dirt inside still? yeah, i run a dirty river, but this flush doesnt keep it clean.

    • @vandos11
      @vandos11 3 года назад

      maybe because when we run to our fishing hole then turn the engine off and fish for hours the dirtyness dries in those hours and that flush port isnt enough to wash it out

    • @CaptDavesSportfishing
      @CaptDavesSportfishing 3 года назад

      @@vandos11 exactly! I run my motor out in a barrel EVERY SINGLE TIME I get back. The motor's "flushing ports" are a joke. On one Suzuki of mine using just the flush port ended up clogging my Fuel Cooler!! One a 250hp. Clog up the fuel cooler in florida and it's NO more, for You.

    I have DF9.9T/TH and instruction manual says to start the motor after attaching a hose.

      omg, have the same motor and cannot find how to flush this engine!!! I see the flush screw at the bottom of the engine. Where the hell do you attach a hose to flush it though? and how do you ensure its drained for inter?

    • @benlyons5884
      @benlyons5884 4 года назад +2

      @@richardfrost3212 buy a plastic tub big enough to cover the lower intake. Run the motor in neutral for 15 minutes. This will cycle the thermostat which emptys the water jackets in the cylnder head.

      @@JEBACZUDASZKU Ha ha It says right in my manual for the DF15a to NOT run the engine using the side flush port. You are not getting enough water to the impeller.
