It's good but ridiculously stupid at the same time how they've made being shot so unrealistic.
I don't think its trying that hard to be realistic.
Getting hit with a 9mm is like getting hit with a pebble traveling at 1,200fps.... It's not gonna take you off your feet. Getting hit with a high caliber round at close range is much the same. It goes in and out cleanly doing minimal damage.

This movie deserves a lot more attention from audiences than it is getting. It is really good. The entire movie is a giant shoot out in a warehouse, but the characters are so well written and interesting that it is able to hold your attention for an hour and a half.

No, you are wrong, very wrong. First of all, I'm not sure if you watched the trailer, but this looks to be a dramedy (drama + comedy) so it is unreal by nature (them laughing during the fight, acting unrealistically calm and witty throughout etc...). This is by no means a bad thing, I love movies of this vein (Tarantino-esque), but when I read the logline and saw the cast, I was excited about the purely dramatic potential (no, not your wrong definition of pure drama). A gunfight, though entertaining and tension ridden, is NOT pure drama as you say. It doesn't seek to delve into the existential or emotional depths that will captivate not only our attention, but our souls.

Bruno 80% of blockbusters maybe but overall not even close, to name some from this year: Zootopia, Midnight Special, Green Room, Swiss Army Man, Don't Breathe, Sausage Party, Lights Out, Hail Caesar, The Lobster, Kubo And The Two Strings, The Witch, Hell Or High Water, The Secret Life Of Pets, Bad Moms, The Neon Demon, Wiener Dog, Blood Father, The Shallows, The Nice Guys, Central Intelligence, Everybody Wants Some, Cafe Society, Love & Friendship, Sing Street, Hush, Nerve, etc, etc, etc. That's just ones released, I could go on and on naming more yet to come. So yeah, there are loads of original movies out there

Watched this last night in theaters, loved it. Very funny and I really enjoyed the way it was shot. The sound was also very good, I liked how the audio shifted directions depending on who's point of view it was showing.

To all the people complaining about what it's about and where it takes place and all that, Ben Wheatley knows what he's doing.
Each and every one of the SIX bafflingly original film he's made over the course of SEVEN YEARS have been beyond stellar. Their disobedience to genre conventions truly differentiate themselves from the work of any particular filmmaker that's been making films today.
Free Fire may very well be a loving ode to Tarantino, but whether that's the case or not, it's still a highly original concept, and with the talent involved, I don't know how you can expect anything less than the best.

That was a really smart move. It reminded me of one of the brilliant aspects of Reservoir Dogs...shoot it in a single warehouse and you can save so much money on location shots and really focus in on the characters and storyline.

Just came back from seeing it. What an absolutely astounding end to the LFF thanks to Ben Wheatley delivering one of the best action films of the decade!!! I had seen three films that day, but even then after this ended, I still had energy. Didn't expect to like Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, and Sharlto Copley so much, along with Cillian Murphy, Babou Ceesay, Sam Riley, and Jack Raynor. Tarantino wishes he made this good an action movie.
