That Massey is a nice looking combine. I wonder why Massy's weren't as popular as some brands? It looks like it's doing a good job. It was less expensive as well. Enjoy ALL your videos Jason.
Many areas lost MF dealership support in the '80s farm crisis & after. The brand was struggling to survive, rather than in position to compete thru most of 90s. I have an 8780, they'll do a nice job if you understand them!
Brainwashing, aka marketing, played a huge part in this. Like David said, loss of dealer support figured into it. I also wonder if there wasn't a loss of company support to their dealer network too. Thinking about my area dealers, the MF (and AC) dealers always seemed like little "mom-n-pop" stores. While other brands' stores, even in the days of independent dealers, were larger and well-supported with better inventories. It's like corporate MF gave up on competing with JD, Case, IH, & Ford (NH) in my area. Of course, now, there's only JD, CiH & NH left. Still can't believe Agco threw out this series of combines. It's like they're turning MF into an afterthought.
In addition, Massey products had some problems in the 70s and 80s. The 860 combine for example had lots of capacity but wasn’t reliable and broke down way more compared to machines like the JD 8820 or IH 1480
@@wcooman1694 they are pushing fendt over Massey. You look to Europe and these machines carry fendt colors and branding. But you also see the ideal combine called Massey.
@@olepedersen2795 I knew they were pushing Fendt when the Challenger tracked machines were painted green & subsequently phased out. Also saw the MF Ideal. It would restore my faith in Agco's commitment to MF, somewhat, if they brought back repainted Challenger arctics as MF.
Very nice to see a Massey Ferguson combine working in the field , a Massey Ferguson person at heart. keep these kinds of videos coming 🇨🇦👍 I was being to think all there was in the states was John Deree equipment.
Great video Jason! Always nice to see some Massey Ferguson action. Still running a 9540 and love it. We run in irrigated wheat, barley, and corn. It's a great machine. Keep up the good work!
That is an awesome combine. It neat seeing steel tracks still at work. Drop me an email at toytractortimes@gmail.com I would like to hear more about your combine.
1980 Massey Ferguson 540 Combine. Pop bought it new. Have harvested corn, soybeans, oats, and wheat with it. Still going strong. 13ft grain head and 1144 corn head.
Great to see a massey ferguson combine with tracks😁👍 In our area only one farm used an mf combine, but I think they run a claas or a john deere now. Awesome video👍👍
They sure have come a long ways. I ran a Massey Ferguson 510 back in 1968 for a guy that did custom combining. He had two of them. powered by 327 Chevy with straight pipes and 14 foot grain headers. I enjoy the channel
The massey is more reliable. We had a few issues the first year with the ideal. The ideal has more capacity with the twin rotors the massey. The bigger grain tank is nice to
Hi we ran massey combines in our family from 1963 to 2019 I'm 56 today always loved the massey but in 2019 my brothers and I sat down and made a decision to switch to internationals because agco was dropping the massey in favor of the ideal fendt and we felt it wasn't ready and I'm so happy we made the right call because those ideals have had alot of problems and when you run the wheat run the last thing you want or needs is break downs so since 2020 we run casih 8250s with 50ft honeybee heads.
I really like seeing the Massey running. All that is around me are JDS and IHs. You had a little bit of a Freudian slip there though when you said introduced in 2011 and new for 2022. We'll all be doing that next month writing checks too. 😆
I’ve never seen a Massey Ferguson combine in the field. That’s a neat set up of the tracks. Does Massey Ferguson make combines now or is it just Gleaner and Fendt as far as Agco goes?
That's something we don't see every day either in the field or on YT. Thanks for posting this one. So when was this combine built? You gave dates of 2012 for introduction but also mentioned 2012- 2014 and also mentioned 2022 (@ 4:02) . Watched it twice to try to catch it all correctly, but still ain't clear on it. I also noticed you used several past tense terms like "they were" and "they had" etc, which makes me think this was from back in the 2012-2014 time frame? Those duck feet paddles seem like great idea. I'm surprised we don't see them more often.
Yes the Ideal combines and the variety of smaller Massey/Fendt combines are built in Italy. The Gleaner S and Massey 9500 series combines sold in North America were built in HESSTON, KS. The 9505 combines were the last Massey combines sold in North America in 2021. Massey combines are no longer sold in North America. Massey dealers in North America now sell Gleaner S9 Combes as a harvesting solution by Massey Ferguson.
As always Jason, thank you for another interesting video. Man that is a narrow looking head on that Massey. I'd like to see it with at least a 50 foot head for that soybean crop. Anyway, its always good to see a MF combine in action.
at 7:10 thru 7:30 it sounded like it was pulling the guts out of that motor. Perhaps it needed a power booster. Didn't Massey quit making their combines?
God bless you! Please make sure you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour everyone! He is coming soon! Please don't be left behind! Repent and accept Jesus! JESUS LOVES YOU! John 3:16, Revelation 20:15, 1 Corrinthians 15 1-4
No the 9500 series was all Massey. Massey 9505 combines were discontinued in 2020. AGCO offers a black Massey Ferguson IDEAl combine in Europe. In the United States the GLEANER S9 series is sold by Massey Ferguson dealers in 2022.
Spent a lot of time in my youth running Masseys from a 410 to an 850. Loved the sound of that Perkins.
Very cool. Two great combines.
Bring more Massey stuff. 90s on up. 👍👍
Our first combine was a 9690. It was a great machine. We're now running a 9540 and it's awesome. Bet it take at least 50hp to run those tracks.
Awesome Jason... Haven't seen many Massey's with tracks...
Got to love a Massey Ferguson, I'm biased , I drove them from 72 to 90 , did the job and always reliable . Great video 👍🇬🇧

Always good to see Massey combines. We run an 850 with steel tracks on our small farm.
That is an awesome combine. It neat seeing steel tracks still at work. Drop me an email at toytractortimes@gmail.com I would like to hear more about your combine.
Very nice combine.
Nice looking combine from not far away! They are great farmers!
We have a Beef Farm in the Penn Yan, NY area. Whereabouts is this located?
1980 Massey Ferguson 540 Combine. Pop bought it new. Have harvested corn, soybeans, oats, and wheat with it. Still going strong. 13ft grain head and 1144 corn head.
Very cool to keep a 42 year old combine going strong.
Great Video. Never seen a New Massy on Tracks.
We have an 8570 with a 20' 9750 flex head and an 1163 corn head. It does a nice job in corn, soybeans and wheat.
I have a Gleaner A76 which is the same as the Massey. It is reliable, simple and easy to service.
Love every one of your videos. It reminds me of watching prairie farm report as a kid
and I subscribe to Rockin Robbie's roadhouse and your friend Nick's channel too..

It is amazing where combines have come from. Each one was better than a stationary thresher.
Love watching yall on these videos that you put out I'm a retired farmer wish I could still farm...love yall keep the videos coming.
We ran 2 9695 combines then 2 9560 combines now a massey 9565 and a fendt ideal 8. We combine peas,lentils wheat,canola,barley
How does the Ideal compare to the 9565?
The massey is more reliable. We had a few issues the first year with the ideal. The ideal has more capacity with the twin rotors the massey. The bigger grain tank is nice to

Whoops 2012 😁. This video was made at 3 am. I did not catch that.
I'd like to see more Massey and Gleaner combines in our great land of America and less Fendts -!
Bel video. Bravo. Bei mezzi.

New Massey combines are harder to find.

I bet they didn't sell a lot of them. Like the colours .

Camso tracks look amazing, but they cost like 1/3 of combine :(

Do they make them auto steer
Yes they used Top Con at that time when they were new.
Is the Massey a red Fendt?
