From my experience its hard to love someone while still not being able to love yourself. I remember in 8th grade I was pushing away my first ever girlfriend because I didn't felt like I was good enough for her and in the end I hurt her and myself which still messes me up.
@Sherbet Tea thats one part, yeah. It can be simpler than that too. You can just feel like youre worthless unless you have others around you - loving their attention more than loving yourself. Always having a girlfriend otherwise you feel unnattractive, having lots of friends (even if they're not that great) otherwise you feel unlikable, trying to gain fans and random attention otherwisw you feel invisible and lonely... That sort of stuff.

I love this song, I think many can relate to it, and I am one of them that can. I think the part around 2:30 where he just melts into the colors really represent the feeling of being scared of the future and the scary thoughts about the present. This song is fucking scary. It's also absolutely fucking brilliant in every aspect of composition. The verses and prechorus give off such an intense feeling of anxiety and impending doom, while the chorus with the beautiful orchestra combined with the artists amazingly expressive voice, provides such a huge relief. This plus those little sort of hardcore EDM, feels so ethereal coming off of the end of the first chorus, while when put after the second verse it feels entirely like just a break from reality, I don't know how to describe it properly, but surreal is the best word that comes to mind. The singers voice alone is amazingly expressive, perfectly conveying tense, abhorrent, fear and anxiety in the verses, while providing a beautifully powerful, but relieving chorus. I've listened to this song many times, and never realised just the depth of the composition alone. I think the radical change in artistic direction in his music further amplifies the intensity of the song. Amazing in every possible way.
Yesss!! Totally agreed, incredibly surreal sounds. There's a March tune throughout which induces the feeling of needing to March on despite everything, sounds of shattering glass at some parts, the metronome playing in the quieter parts so that the song doesn't even give you a moment of peace, almost all the sounds were used to in a song has some level of distortion added, the singing sounds like it's a cry for help. The song is a masterpiece to me.

Read the TL;DR if the first paragraph is too long As far as I can tell the video from the surface seems to be about the singer wanting to commit suicide especially when they sing in first person most of the time, but the part where they sing about the train coming and counting down 3:14. They were talking about another person having been on the train tracks and the singer presumably the boy depicted in the video telling them to "watch out" and "put my hands on the fence, the countdown starts". There's even a reply in quotations saying, "The train comes for me" then the singer says, "I hope the plot isn't resolved as a dream". The person we see possibly jumping/intentionally falling onto the train tracks have a different eye color being black Vs. the singer's red swirling eyes, giving me the belief that there are two main characters rather than one in this music video. They're the same person. Only thing different is the "danganronpa despair eyes" that the boy has appears to not be real. Something like a reflection of his madness in an easier way to see.

I feel like, not long ago, I would have really resonated with this song. Life is still hard, but I’m not in the place I was before, and I’m getting better. I remember at first when this kept repeatedly popping up in my recommended feed 2 years ago until eventually I went and clicked on the video. I watched this so many times last year. The misery and pain in the singer's voice is so well-sung. The instruments are fantastic, even when the voice is quiet the music feels like a perfect representation of overwhelming emotions and the feeling that you're running out of time. The ticking sound that turns into rhythmic bashing drums, the speed, the intensity of the singer's voice, the effects on screen. All more overwhelming as the train comes closer. Don't read if you're not well, please.] The depressing lyrics were so openly and matter-of-factly said. This song feels like pure emotion and artistry combined, unstifled. And I also really love the art style as a whole. I also love the imagery. The gore, the eyes, the man whispering these depressing things with an intense expression, the tape over his mouth, his expressions, the hands in the background as he begs for inferiority to abandon him. They all hit hard. And that eyeball thing that is sometimes focused on? I have chronic pain, and I sometimes feel like that eyeball-tooth thing. In so much constant agony that you can't even be human anymore. Because if you were human, then this kind of pain wouldn't be possible. Shouldn't be possible. How can you hurt so much and still exist? How can you be anything but eyes that scream with pain? And that room filling up with the gorey furniture. It really does feel like that. When you spend so much time in your room, watching it devolve around you, until you feel like the room's horrible mess is an extension of yourself, just as much of an untackleable monster as your own emotions. Anyway, TLDR: everything about this video is so perfectly done. It hurts. It's so well-made and the quality is insane. Whoever made this did wonderfully.

the raw emotion in his voice...this is amazing
This song is fucking scary. It's also absolutely fucking brilliant in every aspect of composition. The verses and prechorus give off such an intense feeling of anxiety and impending doom, while the chorus with the beautiful orchestra combined with the artists amazingly expressive voice, provides such a huge relief. This plus those little sort of hardcore EDM, feels so ethereal coming off of the end of the first chorus, while when put after the second verse it feels entirely like just a break from reality, I don't know how to describe it properly, but surreal is the best word that comes to mind. The singers voice alone is amazingly expressive, perfectly conveying tense, abhorrent, fear and anxiety in the verses, while providing a beautifully powerful, but relieving chorus. I've listened to this song many times, and never realised just the depth of the composition alone. I think the radical change in artistic direction in his music further amplifies the intensity of the song. Amazing in every possible way.

Yesss!! Totally agreed, incredibly surreal sounds. There's a March tune throughout which induces the feeling of needing to March on despite everything, sounds of shattering glass at some parts, the metronome playing in the quieter parts so that the song doesn't even give you a moment of peace, almost all the sounds were used to in a song has some level of distortion added, the singing sounds like it's a cry for help. The song is a masterpiece to me.

(might be triggering for people dealing with depression and i'm in no way saying this kind of thing should be encouraged, it's just my interpretation of the song)
My theory is that the song is about a depressed guy witnessing a person commit suicide by jumping in front of a train and having a mental breakdown realizing how cruel life really is. ("Ever since that day, I lack determination, or perhaps my deepest desire clings to that place") That the life of a human being amongst millions is insignificant and no one is as special as they think they are. ("Scenery that the metal boxes called trains simply carries, runs over and steps on organic material called people")
He keeps thinking of that scene, his sense of identity getting more blurry each time. ("Out of billions of sperm, I happened to be the one brought to life. It must be a mistake, right?") At some point, he even stops thinking of himself as the main character of his own life. ("First person perspective but the protagonist is missing, it's a no win situation")
Engaging in social situations gets harder and harder because of his anxiety & lack of self respect and he decides to commit suicide by jumping in front of a train like he saw a person doing it in the beginning. He views death as a stage play, a show that will bring him recognition as a human being and thinks that instead of hearing the news of him dying, commiting suicide this way will make him unforgettable for the people witnessing it, thus truly making him the protagonist which is probably why he sounds almost excited at the end.

As far as I can tell the video from the surface seems to be about the singer wanting to commit suicide especially when they sing in first person most of the time, but the part where they sing about the train coming and counting down 3:14. They were talking about another person having been on the train tracks and the singer presumably the boy depicted in the video telling them to "watch out" and "put my hands on the fence, the countdown starts". There's even a reply in quotations saying, "The train comes for me" then the singer says, "I hope the plot isn't resolved as a dream". The person we see possibly jumping/intentionally falling onto the train tracks have a different eye color being black Vs. the singer's red swirling eyes, giving me the belief that there are two main characters rather than one in this music video. When the singer says "Inferiority, envy, please abandon" 1:19. Those happen to sound like the words of someone (broken as they are) who is/was trying to help and since they're not in quotations in the song with the closed captions on, I can say that the singer is the one who said it rather than the second person.
TL;DR:
My theory/reasoning is that the singer witnessed one of his friends, family members, or someone else close to them commit suicide by train do to their own inferiority complex and the whole song is singer regretting things they said to try to help out of their situation. The singer now having an inferiority complex of their own and descending into a kind of madness as a result of not being able to save/stop the person on the tracks and being traumatized as they watched the victim's gruesome scene .

I feel like, not long ago, I would have really resonated with this song. Life is still hard, but I’m not in the place I was before, and I’m getting better. I hope anybody else who sees this and resonates with the pain in song stay strong and continue living.
Edit: I kept sticking with life despite everything and I’m in a good place now, finally. Not perfect but good and I believe things will keep getting better. I hope the same comes true for everyone else whose been struggling. I believe in you.

I watched this so many times last year. The misery and pain in the singer's voice is so well-sung. The instruments are fantastic, even when the voice is quiet the music feels like a perfect representation of overwhelming emotions and the feeling that you're running out of time. And this song is just so beautifully composed in general.
I love how much this song feels more and more urgent as it continues. The ticking sound that turns into rhythmic bashing drums, the speed, the intensity of the singer's voice, the effects on screen. All more overwhelming as the train comes closer. The feeling of approaching your end is a weird one.

The depressing lyrics were so openly and matter-of-factly said. This song feels like pure emotion and artistry combined, unstifled. Having emotions stifled has always been a big thing in my life, so I really love this kind of music. It feels like a non-theatrical sob, misery that's not being waxed poetic. Just a thing of pure expression.
The lyrics, too. I don't exactly identify with the words, but I feel the sentiment so much. Being so tired of pain and hurt. Lingering over horrific concepts and imagery because it distracts you from your pain and promises a way out. You're so exhausted, you're hurting so much. Feeling the agony and fear rise in sync with the marching train. You need it to stop soon.
But holy shit, the visuals. I love them so much. The clean and sleek lines and dull colors mixed with stark emotional ones, the focus on red, black, and white. The simplistic bright backgrounds. I love that so much. And I also really love the art style as a whole.
I also love the imagery. The gore, the eyes, the man whispering these depressing things with an intense expression, the tape over his mouth, his expressions, the hands in the background as he begs for inferiority to abandon him. They all hit hard.
And that eyeball thing that is sometimes focused on? I have chronic pain, and I sometimes feel like that eyeball-tooth thing. In so much constant agony that you can't even be human anymore. Because if you were human, then this kind of pain wouldn't be possible. Shouldn't be possible. How can you hurt so much and still exist? How can you be anything but eyes that scream with pain?
And that room filling up with the gorey furniture. It really does feel like that. When you spend so much time in your room, watching it devolve around you, until you feel like the room's horrible mess is an extension of yourself, just as much of an untackleable monster as your own emotions.
Anyway, TLDR: everything about this video is so perfectly done. It hurts. It's so well-made and the quality is insane. Whoever made this did wonderfully.
