I've been playing for this for past few weeks and Im amazed. 10k away from $100k. I make about $15-$17k a day. I have a gift shop, fast food joint and lawyer office. Redecorating the fast food place and hiring more lawyers. So glad ur playing this

I opened up the only jewelry store in Garment District and Ingrid took it upon herself to open 3 jewelry stores within a block of me and flood the market with cheap jewelry for 3/4 my price...if I wasn't selling expensive jewelry and smartwatches in the store as well, she would have shut me down. Definitely need to have more than 1 product to keep the rivals from messing with you too much.
They need to add mechanics where you AND the rivals can suffer financially, because no matter what, even if you have the highest income, the rivals have essentially infinite wealth
Gift shop might be the tutorial 1st store, but it's really the best store to start with overall aside from florist. Reasonable upfront costs and only moderately expensive stock if you're going for expensive gifts, plus it can be a great place to add small electronics once you have the money. Everything else has both or one of: expensive startup, or expensive stock/upkeep, I've found
This game looks fun I was thinking of getting it a while back but my computer can't really handle it. I don't know why but one thing I've learned is that Banks cannot give out loans because they are the borrowers it's actually against breaking law. In order for you to actually get a loan you have to give up collateral worth enough of the loan.
I find vehicles are a pain to own in this game. Initially, I like to "borrow" the 8 item cart from IKA and just walk or use the subway to get around most of the time, occasionally using a cab for longer distances. After a short while, I'll start relying on store deliveries since the delivery cost is pretty low, and eventually I'll get to interior design and deliveries from the warehouse. One of my big disappointments with this game is that you really shouldn't use your house for much, particularly in the early game. Rent the lowest cost house you can to remove the debuff and never go there. You can leave bags of food in your store(s) and rest in the park / skate park, which gives you a massive and long lasting boost to your mood. You'll pay to use the subway, but that's a lot cheaper and more effective than buying any furniture for your home, at least at the start of the game. Although I find that actually clicking on the subway exit can be a bit fussy. If you're already at a subway entrance they should really make it a lot easier to click on the exit on the map, IMO. Since you're running a fast food joint, another thing I find to be fussy is setting what food is provided by the equipment you have. The grills are usually ok, but if I put down four wooden crates on a display, picking the right one can be a nightmare. It's gotten to the point I'll pull the crate off the shelf, set it to what fruit or veggie I'm going to sell, and then put it back. It's great that the boxes show up when you hover over them, but they need to freeze in place if you single click on them and disappear with another one.
@@LordBritish-hi5cp They turn very badly and stop very slowly. They are easy to damage and expensive to repair. It's also extremely difficult to find a good place to park them in some areas. In fact, unless they have self-parking, it can be hard to park them at all. Maybe those things will change in future versions (this game is still very early access, after all), but the last time I drove a car in the game it was a terrible experience.
are there studio living spaces, for starting out in the game? with the business, I would have lined up the register, on the right right side of the space (inline with the door) and grills behind you, instead of making them walk across the space but that's just me...

I tow to the nearest repair station at least once an in game week😌😌😌😌. Getting to the $250,000 on repairs mark should be easy as pie. Even with the cheap Honda.
as much as I like these types of games, I wish they made the employment aspect more realistic. if we could just walk in a store and automatically get a job offer, there would be no unemployment in the world... LOL
45% corporate tax rate is significantly more off the mark than 10%. No business with an even average accountant pays over 30% effective tax rate. In the 8 years my wife and I have had our business we have never paid more than 21% effective tax rate. Breaks, credits, and many other things can permit small businesses to expand and keep more of their money than that
Haha. I’ll get them out as fast as I can. This is another one of those games that take a while to make videos for - because cutting out slower and traveling parts… and there’s a lot of that. ;)
@@bigtomivan You can rent a home somewhere (the cheapest you can find) and just not live in it to remove the debuff. I find if you "rest" in the park and skate park it renews your energy and gives you a massive buff between them. You can then have a tv, bookshelf and exercise equipment in one of your stores and get those buffs when you need them too.

I played the crap out of this game last year… was a millionaire, and was loving it. They updated the game and completely ruined my save as all my employees and new requirements for scheduling and health insurance. The updates should have only applied to new game saves. :/
Not only do you have the option to play on previous versions (previous branches are all there and accessible in branches on Steam), but you have to manually click a button to update your save to the new version. Pretty sure this comes with a warning too, as it also did in the changelog and dev blogs about those updates. That said, the updates definitely expanded the game and changed so much that a new save is better anyways. If you had fun the first time, you’d presumably have fun again.
I have to decide if I want to sink another 60 hours to build my empire from the ground up again. Not sure that would be fun. But thanks for the info in the reply.

If you want to explore this game from scratch again, but don't want to have to restart even another time after a new update - you should wait for the NEXT one. To be fair, try any of the other stores in NY and they won't hire you. So it's more like you know a friend who will do you a favor.
