Lately there’s a phrase that news organizations have been throwing around a lot: “Critical Race Theory.” Everyone is saying it, but no one seems to be able to agree on what it is. How did we get to a point where everyone is saying a phrase they can’t even define? Let’s find out, in a segment called, “How Did We Get Here?”
Show Synopsis: Amber showcases her signature smart-and-silly take on the news of the week, responding to it all with a charming, late-night mix of seriousness, nonsense, and evening gowns.

Textbooks and curriculum is absolutely huge business for companies in conjunction with school districts and universities. They're proud of their rants and the comments under the video are PRAISING them. They just can't handle the scrutiny of their understanding of history....

Brilliantly done. Growing up in Texas we were taught that Texans won the Alamo. Which is batshit crazy logic.

5:23 See this is the issue. White people see BIPOC talking about the racism and discrimination they face and think they are bringing it up to make them feel horrible for them being white, when all we are trying to do is get you to understand that, not only should people not (have been) be treated this way, BUT that you should feel an urge to want to make sure that no one is treated like lesser than human. Its not about making YOU personally feel bad, but to attempt to invoke some emotion to want to cause a change and to stand w those people to help bring about said change. Yes you should feel bad, empathetically, not personally attacked.

It has the conservatives three scariest words all tied together. Think of that first word for instance. Could you imagine our country full of people who began learning to think critically say in the eighth grade. Conservatives would hold only about two seats in Congress both from Mississippi😂😂😂

Thank You! I’ve been stumped by the CRT term. It’s totally weird that I’m grateful to late night comedy people to help me be educated enough to make sense of general news issues but again and again you are so helpful. Thank you! ❤️

Wow. I am a bit disappointed that you all, like many media outlets, have continued to link the 1619 project directly to CRT without any real explanation of CRT. This video seems to syncretize CRT and the 1619 project. It's a different kind of misinformation that doesn't really help.

Rewriting gaslighted history isn't rewriting history, it is called healing. Moreover, the problem with slavery was human ownership. Rationalizing slaves were happy doesn't make it better.
