  • Shots rang out when off-duty Dallas police officer Amber Guyger arrived home to find Botham Jean inside her apartment. Except it wasn’t her apartment. The only thing more shocking than the revelations of Botham Jean's murder was the remarkable act of forgiveness at the end of the trial.

I would be terrified to be in an American court, its all about the win and using other issues to get the juror hating the person . It's very simple, she made an awful reckless mistake. That could have highlighted a burning police problem, and that is PTSD and its results on police who so often accumulate stress and start living by their wits and on the defense, fast reactions over compensating for perceived danger and it's lead to many unnecessary deaths, it's definately a problem for police world wide and very much affecting the American public. The mother doesn't know exactly what happened, none of us do, but it certainly wasn't intentional, she had zero motive to shoot him. It was a mistake that in seconds killed an innocent life. She made a bloody awful mistake and as a cop she has seen the harm done in a women's home by homicides, the rapes, the violent murders, we forget behind the uniform is a human being. Not a monster. Obviously she must pay consequences. Personally if I had a gun I might have done the same as her to shoot to kill an invader due to the violence I have already experienced, but as police she should have learned how to manage her reactions and stay in control , the thing is she was off duty. It's a difficult situation as a loved son and brother etc life was stolen early, everyone's angry with her. She effectively ended her own life with that mistake as well

      Its called “automaticity.”
The ability to perform actions without consciously thinking about them. People perform daily activities automatically all the time, such as walking, riding a bike, or performing a learned and practiced skill-like walking into your apartment .
This is a horrendous tragedy & I can’t say that I would look at the situation with common sense either, if it were MY family member killed in their own apartment. But to say this was intentional or race based is ignorant at best.

Same question I'm asking.... its always ok for my doctor to keep me waiting for over an hour beyond my appointment to see but nit ok to be late for 10 minutes. Its always ok for my local council to damage my property and claim accident but it is not ok for my bin to be over the acceptable weight. It is always ok for an officer to lie and get away with it but not ok for me to whistle-blower on a police officer.... sometimes I wonrthe point in having elected officials when they won't protect the rights of those whom they are suppose to be serving, there is too much power given to civil servants, hence the reason why I call it a cult of narcissists... so sad. She would have been given life without parole. She said it herself, she wanted to kill him. It shows the heart and training of a cop.... impressed about what the young guy did but it didn't teach police officers any lesson. They would have arrested a civilian on the spot, but she was cotton wooled, which shows they are all guilty .... police officers makes me sick. Very few of them have an atom of integrity. From my research, many police officers get into the job because they are power freak, not because they want the best for their community... she just wasted innocent life because her bit on the side wonr come and f*&k her that night...

She was a trained police officer...they are taught to react and make quick and stressful decisions within a split second! Plus, of I recall correctly, she had just completed a long and cognitive demanding job! She could've been rather fatigued, and stressful shift...there could've been many other variables involved as well...plus, it was very dark and she was disoriented and made a horrendous miscalculation and truly made a terrible mistake...of you listen closely, you can hear her Shouting uncontrollably I thought I was in MY apartment! I believe that she acknowledged that she made the dreadful mistake ...the verdict was Fair/ Correct, someone has to pay for this mistake nonetheless.
