I can't express enough how much I enjoy and appreciate these videos. I am sorry if I missed this in a previous videos, but what did you use to clean the aluminum parts?
I use the Roloc polishing discs. Maybe some light sanding first on the castings, then hit it with the polishing discs. @@ELDESTBuilds Cool! Thanks. Your videos have given me the confidence and inspiration to tackle my engine this winter. You will probably hear from me again.
Greatly appreciate your videos. Questions, did you put something on the head bolts? If so, what is it? Also, why did you take the cam boxes off? It seems like you could leave them on when replacing the head gasket. Thanks again!
Heads bolts got a light coat of oil before going in. Cam boxes were removed to service the valve seals and valve laps. You could absolutely leave the on when removing the head.
Hi man! Been watching all your videos. Great work and really appreciated, especially since I'm putting one together myself, yours vids have been super useful. About the dowels... I missed those when puting back together the engine, but had no problems aligning the head.. are they necessary to avoid leaks or can I live without em?
I personally don't think they are necessary. I have run plenty of higher compression motors with no alignment dowels. The head bolts job is to hold the head on.

No worries, send me an email, I'll share all the car documents. Eldestbuilds@gmail.com
Hi, quick question what torque are you using for the 4 Cam/Valve Cover Bolts. I guess it's not much I heard too tight is not good... 6-8 lbf?
Valve covers are 6mm, max is 10 ft lbs.
Send me an email I'll share the torque specs eldestbuilds@gmail.com
Glue them to the cover side with gasket sealer or rubber cement.
Hey man I'm just wondering, where do you find the torque ratings for all of the bolts? about to go through a head rebuild. Thanks!
Send me an email, it's all in a Google drive folder

@@ELDESTBuilds thanks for the reply, and keep up the great work!
May the ratchet always turn in your favor.
Where did you get the reservoir bracket? I didn't see one at Vick Auto.
Which bracket?
@@ELDESTBuilds I thought you had said you were waiting on a bracket to come in to mount the reservior.
No, I had one at the time. Call over there, they can help you out.
@@ELDESTBuilds sent them a build list today to make sure I have everything, and I'll call Friday when I'm off.
Lists are a good, I have lots, better if I write them down.
