When you realize Ripley was absolutely right in not wanting to let him back in
It's crazy that the company had written code with rules about bringing the alien back no matter who died..
@@barowt They didn't. That was a communique that Mother had received from "The Company", and Ash was a "company robot". He was programmed to always follow company orders, which is exactly what he did. I suspect, the company had received the "distress call" (i.e. warning) from the alien ship and made a judgement call "in the moment", and then sent the communique to the ship so they would pick it up and bring it back.
Now, that part intrigues me because it suggests that someone had already been there .... a scout or something ... who had determined that the aliens might have some useful, military purpose, and a decision was made THEN (by the company) to retrieve at least 1 specimen, AFTER that report was received.
@@StevesFunhouse Seems to me they might've known in advance, as Ash was put in at short notice to replace the usual science officer that Dallas had shipped out with before.
@@Paul_1971 That is true, and there is some intelligence in that, especially since they made a point to mention that in the movie. And, following that (and my original) logic, it could be that they did it either, because they already knew or at least suspected that they'd find something, or even JUST IN CASE they found something.
In reality, we really don't know why they replaced the science officer. He could have been sick or transferred for other reasons like, he didn't like the run, he wanted more time closer to home/family, they needed him for more important jobs, or even for a poor job performance.
This still aligns with my thinking though. It'd be hard to talk miners into going there directly, knowing that it was to retrieve an alien, so they'd need a plan to get them there. Using a mining expedition as a cover would be perfect because, they'd be in hibernation mode and unaware of what was happening until it was too late. Using Ash to ensure that at least 1 of them came back infected was feasible and makes a lot of sense.
Sending the military would definitely be out of the question because there would be too much of a risk that they'd kill the alien if they felt threatened by it. They would want people who basically were unarmed, unaware and defenseless.
However, it still works even if they only put Ash there IN CASE it ever was a possibility. Remember, he DID receive orders "mid-mission", which Ripley confirmed, so it still appears to me that this was either a "spur-of-the-moment" thing, or they didn't want to reveal his orders until they needed to. Who knows, maybe they started shipping "loyal synthetics" on ALL of their freighters, for just such scenarios.
Finally, it's possible that they also had run into trouble before with crews refusing to follow orders and decided that some "insurance" needed to be added to make sure missions went according to THEIR plans.
Lots of possibilities, so thanx a lot Paul 😉😉... now my mind is swarming with potential scenarios👍😊.
Ripley was right....must say that😁
17:51 "...male or female?" 🤣🤣🤣
never never ever heard this conversation in an Alien (1979) reaction. 😂
I could not stop laughing when they kept talking about it sexually 😂
You had an interesting, though misguided, impression of Ripley at the beginning. She wasn't being a "bitch" by refusing to let the team through the airlock, rather she was following the established quarantine protocols. If anything, Ash was being insubordinate by breaking the protocol and disobeying Ripley's order. At that moment she was in command of the ship and had the rightful authority to enforce the quarantine protocol. I'm sure by the end you will see that the entire incident could have been avoided if everyone had followed the protocols and chain of command.
That is a fairly unusual perspective. Most viewers would've sided with Ripley for not letting Kane through because of quarantine protocol, plus the fact that you know that in a film genre like this, letting it in is the cause of the entire crisis of the film.
Yeah, that really surprised me that they were against Ripley at the start of the film! Hahaha, that was unexpected. But it was a fun viewpoint to see the movie from that perspective until it became undeniable that she had been right all along.
That's only true if you totally ignore the fact that Ash was sent by the company to ensure the return of the organism at all costs. It doesn't matter who followed orders or not.
As you said, "She wasn't being a 'b*itch' by refusing to let the team through the airlock, rather she was following the established quarantine protocols" ... I really love these two, but that's what happens when people talk through important moments of a movie ... they miss important details, and that can change the entire "perceived story" that a person gets. Of course (and I'm NOT referring to you when I say this), that's also why it's wrong for people to even give their opinions of sequels and similar movies ... because they can alter/effect the reactors experience, and you never know what a reactor will watch down the road.
Thank you for your explanation. It was spot on !!!
@@h.4315 True, most viewers do not understand that breaking quarantine sometimes kills thousands of people. Just imagine if that Wuhan lab kept quarantine...
The song Ripley was singing at the end, to keep her own panic at bay, was _You Are My Lucky Star_ from Singin' in the Rain (1952).
As someone who works in healthcare, I'm absolutely Team Ripley. The safety protocols are in place for a reason. They had no idea what that thing was or what it could do. Allowing it on the ship was unbearably foolish. You can't just save someone because they're a friend. The entire crew was endangered and ultimately lost, because they ignored the safety protocols.
You have forgotten that Ash was sent by the company with orders to return the organism at all costs. Following protocols wouldn't have worked when the company considered the crew expendable.
@@tjsogmc No one was SENT to retrieve the alien. They got a communique WHILE in transit back to Earth, and at that time, Ash who was "programmed" by the company to follow orders religiously, was updated and instructed to make sure a specimen was returned to Earth by any means necessary. There was NOTHING in this movie that suggests that the company had planned this all along. I firmly "believe" that they received the "distress signal" and made the decision at that point to send the Nostromo to that location and have THEM "have a looksee" and "get a sample", at all costs.
@@StevesFunhouse so you agre that there was no possibility of following protocols because the company desired to retrieve the alien at all costs? Remember, Ash was a last minute replacement for the science officer.
Whether it was planned or a last minute change, the alien was going to be on the ship regardless of any protocols.
@@tjsogmc Yes, I definitely agree with you on that, and as Ash proved when RIpley told them she would not let them break quarantine by overriding the door lock and let them back onto the ship. I'm kind of suspecting that he got his orders either before they set down on the planet or after he confirmed the distress beacon (i.e. "warning") was coming from another alien ship.
Just like the oxygen mask on the airplane ✈️ you gotta bee safe, before you can help others.
"Like a lizard in your bathroom, it never goes out!" 😂
When Alien came out in 1979 it was very shocking to the viewers. The bigger name actors died in the first 30 minutes of the movie, nobody knew who Ripley/Sigourney Weaver was. You thought everyone could get killed off in this movie. "In Space No One Can Hear You Scream" -- That is what they put on the billboards and marketing ads.
31:30 sadly, no, DO NOT HELP THEM!
dude, you just watched the movie and saw what happens when you break safety protocols. those protocols are in place for EVERYONE'S safety.
and remember, if you are not physically able to perform these steps, do not sit beside the emergency exit.
Just here to point out, that all could have been avoided if they didn‘t open the door like ripley ordered! Love your reactions
Lol... it's almost like safety rules exist for a reason. 😜
But that was never going to happen. The whole reason they were sent was to investigate the alien crash. No one but the android of course knew that, but nonetheless.....they came for the life form....they weren't going to leave without it. The android and "mother" had their priorities.
This is definitely the first time I've seen reactors side AGAINST Ripley on that call
@@jauntx Yes! I've seen just about every alien reaction on RUclips and this is the first someone has been against Ripley.
@@Uriel77200 100% everybody seems to ignore that ALL the crew wanted to open the door, AND that Ash was specifically put on that mission to retrieve the organism at all costs. Following or not following protocol was a non-factor at that point.
Never should have let them back on the ship. Ripley was trying to protect the crew.
You were right about how the crew should remain together for defense. This is a common theme in horror movies, the cast splits up when they are in danger, allowing them to be killed one at a time. It makes no sense.
I like ALIEN quite a bit particularly Sigourney Weaver's portrayal of Ripley, but I like ALIENS even more although it obviously depends on the first story for its intensity as a sequel.
Fun reaction! The best character arc in this video was our boy going from hating Ripley to cheering for her! 😂
I loved that : )
Lambert was stabbed by the Aliens tail . They showed it swinging up at her and off camera Ripley heard her scream.
No security pillows were harmed
in the watching of this movie. ; - )
That was so enjoyable! You two are so entertaining! I laughed many times in a good way--especially when you asked if the alien was male or female. Heehee! Thank you for your reaction. I'm subscribing. :)
I saw this when it first came out, around Halloween in Berkeley CA. Some bozo lit off firecrackers inside the theater during the especially scary bits. Made the 17 year old me nearly have a heart attack.
Ya i saw it on a tiny black and white TV and it was still scary as hell. My Mom and Dad saw this in the cinema. My Mom had nightmares for weeks after this. Sometimes I get a random nightmare on Alien, so I just wake up and watch TV or something. You can't return to sleep. As kids, we would play Alien on the playground. The Alien could break through any barrier and the rest of the kids would run around like crazy.
Great reaction. The movie is from 1979, not 1975 like your title says.
They say it right in the video but not in the title
I think the Alien was so iconic because it was so horrifying and different from the earlier films -- when Star Wars came out, there were mostly cute or strange aliens, and in the Star Trek series a lot of humanoid aliens like Klingons that human interacted with. The Alien (xenomorph) was designed by Swiss artist H.R.Giger, who based it on a "biomechanical" idea. If you had never seen it, and it was never fully shown, you had NO idea what it was ... except the scary monster in the dark!
your star trek comparison isnt exacly accurate, cus this zenomorph is humaniod. its bipedal, one head, 2 arms, with many similar functional body parts that we have, (except the tail and second jaw). most xenomorphs tend to adopt physical characteristics of their host. hence why the "runner" existed in Alien 3, because its host was a dog.
Lambert is the little girl in The Birds BTW
Watch part 2 called “ALIENS”
"Aliens" plural. Is the sequel. One of the very few times that a sequel is better than the original. Please watch it, you will LOVE it. Roller coaster ride of action.
Alien 3 was the first one I watched, then Aliens, then the original. It's an unpopular opinion, but Alien 3 is still my favorite just because it made such an impression on me, and I loved the setting so much. Will watch more if you guys continue the series ; ).
Yay, love Ripley! My first heroine
Edit - watch Aliens next!!
@18:40, this is the best jump-scare in horror movie history, I (we) know it's coming and it still gets us, every time
Alien is a Horror movie in space, where no one can help you.
Aliens is an Action movie. Aliens did not scare me at all, but it's faster, lots of guns, and lots action. They are 2 different movies.
Lmbo the discussion about whether the Alien has a vagina or not between you too had me almost on the floor laughing ...lmbo...great reaction you two love your channel!!! From Oklahoma USA!!
That was hilarious and did she get mad?!,🤣🤣🤣🤣
Amazing it's almost 45 years old and the awesome special effects! Any of the Scott brothers movies are great!
The US film industry in the 70s and onward was a gold mine of creativity and innovation. They built these sets with so much care and even today they don't put as much effort into set design. So many classics. Alien is one of the few successful cosmic horror movies to be released.
Btw I love your reactions!
FINALLY someone else who thought Ripley was a bitch at first...
apparently these ships can have issues with vermin...hence the cat.
So glad the two of you enjoyed this movie ....I saw it in the summer between my junior and senior year in high school ....saw it a a drive in theater ..... when we watched it the film actually broke when Ripley got into the shuttle and there is was just silence ......after a couple of minutes with no explanation's people just started leaving ....we sat there in our car and and thought we would let the crowd thin out before we left too and we discussed how it was so odd for it to end like that ..... well after 90% of the people had left we were getting ready to leave and someone came on the speaker and said they apologized for the problem but it t would be fixed in a moment .....and after a couple more minutes it was !! So we got to see the ending which was much more satisfying .....in the next few days when we discussed the movie to other people who had left they were really pissed off that they had missed it lol
The teamwork you have together is the best i have ever seen. (This includes international sports commentators) Thanks, I really enjoyed you'r reaction.
So, who is going to look for Jones the cat when he runs away? Parbrahm or Samardeep? 😂
Fun reaction to watch and best wishes to you both.
Now that his movie is fresh in your minds, you need to watch the sequel "Aliens", as great as "Alien" the movie was, some believe the sequel "Aliens" was better, nonetheless both are great movies, which is rare to have both the original and sequel to be masterpieces, all the rest of the "Alien" movies in the franchise you can skip, they were straight to DVD type of movies, watchable but nothing close to what the first two are. 🤔
I agree. With Aliens and Terminator 2, James Cameron has created two of the greatest sequels of all time.
You two are awesome to watch!
I noticed you were watching the so-called Director's Cut. It was later found out that Ridley Scott likes the original theatrical cut better (and so do I).
He only added the extra cut scenes, so he could get the studio to finance a full restoration of the film negatives. The added scene where Ripley finds where the alien took the crew's bodies screws up the alien life cycle as shown in the classic sequel, "Aliens." Ignore that scene when you watch the next film.
Director's cut editions are usually inferior. Except for "Blade Runner."
@@auerstadt06 I like the director's cut of Aliens, if only for the gun turrets in the hallway scenes.
@@auerstadt06 And Das boot
Very enjoyable reaction. Now you are ready for the excellent sequel ALIENS!!
My thoughts about Ripley and quarantine is as 3rd in command with Dallas and Kane off the ship, her first priority is to the ship and it's crew so keeping quarantine is what she would do. After watching Alien and Aliens I do believe her character is such that if it was a decision to help someone at risk to only herself and she was not overseeing a crew, she would take the risk and help another person. I love your thought provoking questions.
Can't wait for you to see the sequel, "Aliens"! Then you will have seen ALL the Alien movies.
"It's like a touch me not plant "
8:57 ... 😂
I'm so happy you watched this movie. It's fantastic and I dare say Aliens is equal if not even better than Alien. Hope you react to it. A big thank you all the way from Oregon👏☺💚
Great reaction guys! Love this one
Glad you enjoyed it
@@theloudguysmovies i thought Alien was 1979 and not 1975 as it says in the title of the video
@@peterwilliamskelhorn6675 that's correct. In 75 Star Wars wasn't even out yet.
I truly enjoy your videos, mostly because you are such likable people, and because of the way you interact with each other. Unlike Americans, you talk in a most respectful manner, never interrupting or talking over each other, respecting each other's opinions, and always allowing time to express your thoughts fully. Neither one of you dominates the other and tries to control the conversation. I wish all the world communicated the way you do. Thank you for being an inspiring example of the ideals of respect and equality.
Now you are perfectly eligible to watch John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) 😁
I love your reaction! I saw this movie when it first came out in 1979. The trailer played on TV and it was scary too! I was so scared just walking into theater before the movie started. You reacted exactly the same why I did! There was a lot of screaming going on in that theater! Not seeing the alien much made it a lot scarier!
First Warrant Officer Lt. Ellen Ripley is one of the coolest, most bad-a** protagonist heroes of any film
That assumes facts not known in 1979 or 1986. When I bought the Special Edition Laserdisc(!), I found out about "Dwayne' and "Ellen," and got an answer the "how did Ripley get close, quickly, to Rebecca?" question.
Great chanel AND funny reactions more please.🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦
You guys crack me up. Love your reactions. Keep 'em coming.
A couple of things:
Many claim the sequel (Aliens) to be better, but they are VERY different movies, with this being more of an art house, slow burn, fear of the unknown, isolationist horror type film and the sequel being much more of a thrill-a-minute, action, military popcorn sci-fi horror. I find them equally entertaining for different reasons, but both should be watched.
Secondly, the actors in the chest-burster scene knew very well what was going to happen. From a technical perspective, there is NO WAY they couldn’t have known, with all the practical apparatuses necessary to achieve the scene. What they DIDN’T know was just how much fake gore was going to be thrown into the room for the scene, which was indeed shocking to the actors, particularly Veronica Cartwright. Her reaction, while genuine, was not a result of being unaware of the chest-burster portion of the scene, merely just not knowing how icky it was going to be. The pause in the middle of the scene is real, because it was so violent and gory that the actors were caught by surprise by the sheer visceral nature of the effect, even knowing it was coming, but Ridley Scott just shouted at them to keep going with it.
Alien was released in 1979, not 1975 (it's not Jaws). 😉👍
i would join patreon for full length unedited reactions from two loud people such as yourselves.
They did not show the whole alien due to the fact that it was a tall basketball player in a suit; it looked ridiculous when seen fully. Closing the visible leads the mind to imagination and makes it more horrifying. That is the same reason why the shots were almost all dark.
Bolaji Badejo was not a basketball player. He was an art student, attending school in London.
The next, Aliens, movie was done by James Cameron!!
With alien effects by Cameron and Stan Winston.
What are you watching I’ve seen this movie many times I’ve never seen a scene where the crew members were being cocooned.
There weren’t many cut scenes for this film, but the one where Dallas is found slowly transforming into a facehugger egg is part of the original drawings, and airbrush painting sequences worked out by H. R. Giger, and Ridley Scott for the Alien life cycle. Scott thought the build of tension in the film was broken by the inclusion of the Dallas/egg scene, and so he cut it for the theatrical release. When Cameron, and Stan Winston Studios started the pre-visualizations, and writing for the second film they changed the life cycle of the alien, and added the queen as the egg source rather than victim transformation. There are are a few books out there devoted to Giger’s concept art designs for Alien, and Dune that were then recycled as visual elements/homage in Prometheus. You could probably find much of this concept art online if you’re interested in tracking it down. 💫🔥🌌☮️
this movie is masterpiece 👽👽👽
Great reaction 😀! Cannot wait for ya'lls Aliens reaction! I idolised Sigourney Weaver's character, she's a legit O.G.
The next movie, Aliens!
When you look, there's only very few jump scares. But suspense entire time after landing makes them work so well. Truly master piece using light and building suspense and atmosphere.
Just subbed. 👍
You need to see Blade Runner from 1982, also directed by Ridley Scott, one of the greatest movie directors ever IMO.
If you want to see a more unknown film by him, you should check out The Duelists (1977). It has a very different setting to the other ones, as it's set in the Napoleonic era (around 1800), and is about a personal vendetta between two French officers which goes completely out of control.
Cheers from Sweden!
Him calling ripley a bitch made me soo ma for a second
its the exact reaction i had to ripley when i first saw it.
The best Truckers In Space film ever made.
I totally agree with your reaction to Ridley not wanting to let Kane in the ship…
lol. Big fan of this unique Channel and even Indians- buuut the original *_ALIEN_* movie came out in 1979. My Dad even saw it with his friends on the same date that he graduated.
I took my 12-year-old brother to see this when it came out. The alien popping out of the stomach scared him so much he started crying. I wonder is 12-year-olds are capable of that kind of response nowadays.
My son watched this when he was 12. He loved it. I've since watched Jaws, Aliens, The Shining, Predator and a tonne of other great movies I saw when I was his age. He loves them all. Kids these days don't even blink during the scares that once got us.
A genuine work of awesome art, and the sequel is fantastic too!
I love how he's constantly 'splaining but she's OK with it. A personal quirk is harmless.
Mansplaining isn't compulsively chatting about a topic you find interesting to an eager/curious listener.
Mansplaining would be if she was a literal astronaut or astronomer or something and he explained space to her as if he didn't expect her to already know.
People complain about mansplaining not because "misandry uwu", it's because it's an act of condescension. Behaving like you know more about a topic than an expert, and you've got to educate about the most basic shit, all because "the expert is a woman so of _course_ she doesn't know a thing."
@@baydiac I didn't say mansplaining.
his voice cracked like an 12 year boy going through puberty 19:08 "So Scar-EEE!"
...again, the theatrical release is the best. To be honest, the only old sci-fi movie that benefits (a lot) from a director's cut is Blade Runner.
Oops, you have the incorrect year in your title. This movie came out May 25, 1979, not 1975. It came out two years after Star Wars: Episode 4: A New Hope, not two years prior.
Alien 1975?No Way!1979.

You got it so completely wrong. Ripley was the only one who had a brain. Rules are in place for a reason. You DON"T break quarantine, or you risk the life of the whole crew.
Unfortunately, none of that mattered. Ash was put on the ship by the company to retrieve the organism at all costs. Rules also don't work when the company you work for considers you expendable.
people are a lot more sensitive to "following quarantine protocols" after covid.
The film Alien was released in May of 1979, NOT 1975.
It’s like a lizard in your bathroom 😂😂 not something you see everyday here in Europe.
Thanks for the amusing reaction to this masterpiece.

Its a masterwork by none other than James Cameron. Personally, I like and only care about the first four movies. They did make even more of them, but somehow, I don't care about the ones after the 4th.

I am writing this to help out The loud guys and this video and this channel with the algorithm ✌️❤️😚☺️
The dad screaming at jump scenes 🤣
How could you think Lambert ran away? She was killed by the Alien right after it killed Parker. You heard her screams.
You guys seem like a really cool couple. I enjoy watching your reactions. Much love
For me the interesting flaw in this one (and especially in #2 -- Aliens) is that they have perfectly capable AI androids....so THEY should be the ones sent on mining mission or, in Aliens, surely as soldiers! In Aliens in particular, Bishop did a terrific job -- better than any human could do. So let them! The interesting flaw is that, apparently, writers 40 years ago lacked a full appreciation for the value that AI could represent.
Considering how the AI end up in the alien movies that was probably a deliberate choice on the part of Weyland-Yutani.
Ash going all "it's a superior life form I should use the human crew to harvest them and bring them back to earth for me" is not ideal, so presumably AI in contact with the alien would start stockpiling eggs. WY wanted the xenomorphs, not to be ambushed with face-huggers as soon as they check on the ship!
Even in Prometheus the AI deliberately infects someone to propagate the alien. WY seems to know they're tools at best and aren't trustworthy.
19:03 the best reaction on youtube ever 😁😁😁😁
sky-fi, thats cute.
usually pronounced like "si-fi" like the sound from psychology or psychic.
You mentioned a "Touch-Me-Not Plant" and I was wondering if it is the same as what in America we call the Venus flytrap?
No, I think it's a different one. It's a plant that folds its small leaves together when you touch it, as a defense mechanism, not to catch anything. It also folds them when it gets dark. It has a very intricate and beautiful flower though.
@@Griexxt Ah, yes! I know that plant. A gentle stroke of the leaves causes them to fold up like butterfly wings. 😀
Fun fact: When they filmed the chest-bursting scene none of the actors knew what was going to happen. Ridley Scott wanted to get their honest reactions, so they weren't told. When the alien came out of his chest their reactions were real.
To be clear, the entire cast read the script and did table readthroughs about the chestburster, so they did know what was going to happen. Ridley Scott kept the final form of the chestburster a secret as well as exactly how the shot would be done with John Hurt technically. But Tom Skerrit showed up on set early, took a peek and told Koto (at least). When they all walked into the set they saw that the cameras, crew and equipment/cameras were covered in sheet plastic so they knew it was going to be messy/bloody. On the first take the chestburster puppet didn't tear through Kanes shirt so they had to reset. What we see in the final print is a combination of the first and second takes as well as second unit close ups. Saying the cast had no idea about the entire scene is misleading.
Priceless reaction dudes, love it
Yaphet Kotto (Parker) was choice #2 to play Captain Picard in Trek. That'd a been a _different_ show.
And Sigourney beat out Meryl Streep to get Ripley.
This is one of my favorite Horror series. You guys need a seatbelt!! LOL. Well check out the sequel ALIENS. There are more in the series but the rest are junk. Maybe Promethius is worthwhile its the ""Pre-Alien" movie.
When I was a kid I pretended to be an alien in online chats. I claimed I was in a stealth UFO in Earth orbit, researching human culture through internet contact. As a representative of an alien Solar expedition I can tell you yes, we would have loved reaction videos as valuable material for our anthropological findings on Sol III.
