Sarahs roommate did not have the same name. The terminator just killed anyone who lived at Sarah's apartment because he didn't know what Sarah looked like.
Your scream, and "Get out, fuck off!", was hilarious! I spit out my drink. No joke.
in the 80s, they had phonebooks, but only people that knew me called.. now days there are no phonebooks, and many strangers call me non stop
Great watch!! When she asked, "What is this book" and had to be explained the telephone book I felt OLD haha. Yes, you could get any number, but people could opt out and get an unlisted number if they wanted to. Most people didn't though.
Same here. But i still get like 3 phonebooks delivered to me each year so its still a normal thing to me.
And of course, the phone company CHARGED you money to NOT list your number. Still scamming the public all these years later.
Me too. Feel well old now haha
Also, about the sleazy guys thing - these were landlines, usually one per household, so if you wanted to creep-call a girl, there was a very real chance her father picked up instead ;)
To this day I wonder how many robberies, burglaries, rapes, assaults and murders took place because people had their name, address and phone number listed publicly in the annual phone books.
Opting out was possible, if you knew it was an option and took all the right steps. Even then, some phone company employees would just be as difficult as possible. I am not really sure why. Maybe they got a bonus for convincing you to keep it listed? I have no idea. I just remember the hoops I had to jump through after I got married and how to change my listing.
When Kyle Reese was talking about the photograph, he said Sarah looked so sad in the picture and he always wondered what she was thinking about. Reese didn’t know that in the photograph, Sarah was thinking about him.
Very cool reactions. If you liked this one you will love the second one. The special effects were pretty good for the time and it was a blast to watch in theaters on the big screen.
Really love y'all's reaction the way you both screamed and Buddy too when the Terminator popped up after Kyle's death if your watching Terminator 2 you're in a roller coaster ride you definitely going to really enjoy it🤩💯
The endoskeleton at the end was moving slower not because it's flesh was burned off, but because it's leg was damaged. It was limping, in case you didn't realise it.
yeah, it's both hilarious to see the Terminator get randomly creamed by a semi, but it's also nice to show its frame isn't some unbreakable metal - the machines are fallible
@@Rhodair Like the T-1000 malfunctioning at the end of T2.
and it'd been beaten, battered and run over by a truck as well. :p so it's quite fair to say that it wasn't merely just a leg-damage alone.
@@Rhodair And it's still just the weaker areas like the joins to the legs that got blown apart. the central torso is still intact, same with the head and there was still some level of motorcontrol to continue the mission.
Phone books began as a status symbol. Only the richest people in town had a telephone and having your name listed in the book along with the number to dial to call you, meant you were a wealthy person. By the time everybody had phones, the phone book had become a highly useful tool as there was no way to store a phone number except to have it written down somewhere or commit it to memory.
I know it seems odd today but having your name and address listed in a book that anyone could access was akin to having a Facebook page or some other social media presence.
You could opt out of the phone book by having an "unlisted" or "private" number but that cost extra. Usually celebrities and other famous people had unlisted numbers
The new phone book's here! The new phone book's here!!
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 Navan Johnson!
I mean, to this day, your whole life is available online for anyone that is intent enough to do what it takes to get that info.
Im referring to the time period when phone books first became a thing. In the 1900s. That's when people thought it was a status symbol to be listed. A phone book would never be acceptable today. I was attempting to point how such a thing even came about. Why would anyone want their name and address listed in a publicly available directory? Because originally, the phone book only listed the wealthy people in town, that's why the phone book became popular and acceptable to people. Of course by the 1980s everyone was in the phonebook and it no longer meant you were wealthy. Just like cell phones. When they first came out only the rich had them. Now homeless have smartphones @@alexgoenne1689
12:20 I'm old enough to remember phone books, and people could always request that their number not be published. Obviously high profile public figures (politicians, celebrities, pro athletes) did not have their home #'s listed.
Moth balls keep moths away from eating your clothes. They also used to be made from naphthalene, which is flammable. Which is why Reese needed them.
They can also be used to make your clothes smell like poison. Personally, I prefer lavender for repelling moths. :D
If one places them in a motorcycle's gas tank they react with benzin and act like nitro but after the race etc one should clean tank and engine by running clear benzine through for a couple cycles or you get the engine damaged. Also if placed with benzine and some petrol on a bottle depending on analogy you can get a molotov cocktail with plenty an explosive reaction and if one adds a bit sugar it melts and sticks on clothes etc and you enter napalm territory...i 'm just sayin'

Fun fact: Moths don't eat clothes. Caterpillars do, though. The ones that prefer cotton as a food source.
"Ohhh!! They're here for v*agina!" I've never laughed so hard at a reaction!! Lmao🤣🤣🤣
Terminator and #2 are both great classic films. Happy you have seen the first one...I have seen them both many, many times. Seeing the character arcs from the 1st to the 2nd films is intriguing and intense. And it's a good thing she was last in the phonebook. And yes I remember the days when we would have a new phonebook sent to our house every six months...the white pages are for homes/personal and the yellowpages were for business. Almost every city and small town in America used to have phonebooks. And address were included too!(unless you called and asked for your info to be private) Times have really changed!
I think there werr blue pages for city/regional services in our versions too
Decades before this, they often listed the occupation or business of the phone number.
@@robertcampomizzi7988 Yes...I totally forgot about the Blue section...wasn't it for government and community services, public works etc ???☺And city maps...they had various maps depending on the size of the region it covered.
You will also love Cameron's True Lies. Plus The Abyss Special Edition, Titanic, Aliens.
You guys crack me up! Genuine, next-level enthusiasm. 👍
I lost it at the blow jobs comment.
Thanks! 😃
@@theloudguysmovies . " Conan The Barbarian " ..released in 1982 ..it's Arnold's movie that made him officially a popular actor..I think both of you would like reacting to it.
26:49 This scene really hits the point home how dangerous Terminators are. Even in the future, when there ARE readily available weapons to fight them effectively, even one of them is absolutely deadly.
Especially because a Terminator might be able to take a few plasma shots before going down, where as a human just needs a singular 'center-mass' hit and they are dead.
The phone book came in 2 sections. White pages with simply listed name, number, address if you wanted. Along with the yellow pages, which were every business advertised. Got a water leak? Flip to P and find Plumbers. Then you had 5 to 15 numbers you mesmerized, and even a personal phone book that was pocket sized for you to fill in.
This my favorite Romance story.
I am a big fan of you guys and your reactions! You both bring such a fresh and honest perspective! Like everyone else I will jump on the bandwagon and strongly urge you to watch Terminator 2. It is known for being one of those sequels that is just as good or even better than it’s predecessor!! 😊🌺
"What is this book? A diary of where everyone is". Lol
yes kyle is more or less on a time loop. he gets born, fights in the war and gets sent back and dies. omg that scream when he popped back after kyle died was priceless as was telling the terminator to eff off lmao 🤣
The theatrical version of Terminator 2 is an action masterpiece. 😀
Theatrical is better than full version. It's rarely the case. But true for T2
@@rostikskobkariov5136 I disagree. The Special Edition is superior to the theatrical release.
@@motodork i disagree with you also
Agreed
The special edition is far superior.
I have loved this movie ever since i was a kid. The second movie in the series is one of those rare sequils that actually rivals the first movie, you should watch it.
Kyle said he always used to wonder what Sarah was thinking in that 🤔 picture 📸 he had of her. If he only knew, she was actually thinking of him all along. Brilliant writing. A solid story. -OG
"Come with me if you want to live" is one of the most iconic lines in Hollywood. I think they used it in three different Terminator films.
That and "I'll be back". 😁
The one continuity thing that I remember every time I see this movie is Arnold looking up the Sarah street addresses in phone book: 1823,2816 and 309, but the first house he goes to is 14239. I can never unsee that.
I can never get over how Reese spent the whole movie in a homeless man's pants. If I were Sarah, I would've made him bathe. Or better yet, help bathe him before they got to it. 🤢
"She wants that jacket, and this is the way she's getting it." :)
I'm sure you guys are going to see the second movie, "Terminator 2." You'll enjoy it. As the Terminator would say, "I'll be back."
Whenever I am lucky enough to attend the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, I always watch the Indian movies first. Please encourage any filmmakers you know to submit their films!🎉🎉🎉
Great reaction. You HAVE to watch part 2 soon. It will absolutely blow you away
Michael Biehn is a unique action hero. He can portray realistic human vulnerability. He can also play a compelling villain (like Coffey from 'the Abyss' or Johnny Ringo from 'Tombstone'). Whether hero or villain, his characters always have a believable human element to them.
It's always fun to watch people react to this movie while experiencing it for the very first time.
Glad to see you enjoyed one of the groundbreaking movies of our time. Now to the greatest sequel ever.
As others have noted, you two crack me up 🤣🤣🤣😁👍!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Omg when she asked about the phone book! 🤣
Yes, not only could you get their number, you could get their address!
Terminator 1 is amazing but Terminator judgement day is masterpiece
Both were fantastic, but the original Terminator's story & dramatic build-up (the exposition in the opening chase scene (including parking garage) was more creative/original. The action never stopped AS the story was being told. James Cameron at his best.
@@dalecaswell4217 Yes, T2 was softer.
Me being older I take for granted everyone knows what phone book is.
4:24 "What did he take out? His heart?"
Yes, indeed. Not many reactors pick up on that.
“Mothballs!?….what do you eat?!” Well, you got us on that one. Awesome. Hope you both watch number two. Mothballs, 42…..
He had only done a few movies before this. Hercules in New York, stay hungry, pumping iron...a very good documentary, and Conan. This one truly made him an international star! Also Cameron wasn't famous and had zero money, when he made this!
Where does The Villain fit in? I thought it came before Terminator.
And Arnold played the stoic "Terminator" in every film after that. He could get shot and survive the film because we accepted that there is a hyper alloy chassis inside.
“What is this book?”
Love it!
Instead of 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, how about 6 degrees of Bill Paxton? He went on to star in Aliens with Lance Henrikson who also stars in this movie
They both starred in Near Dark as well.
Terminator 2 is amazing. Few sequels are better than the 1st and T2 is one of them. It's good you watched T1 before T2 but T2 will blow your mind.
Talking about diehard, Have you watched the movie Diehard? Now that's a movie that you want to see.
I love The Loud Guys!
Shout out from Coastal South Carolina Lowcountry!
I don't know about Indian films, but in most US films they want you to understand the story. So, if you listen to the dialog you won't have to ask so many annoying questions! So, LISTEN TO THE FILM, and be quite.
"I don't think the Terminator can come to India. These guys only stay in America."
Love it!!!!
Great reaction. You guys should watch Terminator 2. I was amazed that you didn't know about phone books. People didn't abuse them and we (Australia) still have them ,just not in paper format.Your comments on Bollywood were interesting too. America was making science fiction and horror films in the 1930s (Dracula and Frankenstein) and even before sound. I assumed that India would have done this too.
I should add that John did know his real father as the about the same age he was in 2029. This was why John sent Kyle back because of the audio tapes Sarah made for him.
Just remember that Terminater 2, you will be shocked and much better in a lot of ways.
34:50 "We're tired, fuck off!!" 😂🤣😂
I hope you guys will watch Terminator 2. It is one of the best sci fi movies ever made.
Thank you for sharing your reaction to this. I saw it in the theater and enjoyed it enormously.
I thought it was a brilliant idea on the makeup department to have the Terminator's eyebrows burned 🔥 off from the explosion before he punched 👊 through the windshield to grab Sarah.
I think the missing eyebrows adds to his intimidating look. A look that's not quite human. Almost like a Frankenstein monster on a mission and nothing will stand in its way!! -OG
Okay first I wanna apologize because I am a newer subscriber, so I don't know your names... So with that said, this is my favorite reaction to this movie. From her not knowing what a phone book is to his hilarious BJ and vag comments... you guys crack me up 😂😂😂😂
And I agree with everyone else... you gotta watch Terminator 2... extended cut for sure.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Great reaction! The sequel is on a short list of sequels that might even surpass the original.
"What is that book? ... You can just get any girl's number" "people were not that sleezy then" wisdom. You guys are fun and sweet, and hilarious.
Great movie! nice Reaction! Do not know if you noticed but there is no propeller-shat on the pick-up when it flips-over : )
This was one of the best and funniest reactions to this movie ever. You are both fun to watch. Many blessings!
The shot of the future terminators’ eyes and laser gun moving through, shooting humans without emotion is a cyberpunk icon. Now watch part two!!!
I wouldn't describe this as a "horror" thriller, more like a "dark sci fi thriller".
It’s a love story. All Cameron’s films are actually love stories.
I was 13 when saw this in the theater. & 1986 was a fukn awesome year, my friend!
☁️ 😎👌
"What are moth balls?"
They're made of some chemicals that keep moths away. You can put moth balls in with clothing and blankets in storage, inside a sealed suit, in your closet, etc.
Can't wait to see you react to T2. I recommend you watch the extended version. Not the director's cut. They have totally different endings.
"The Terminator": The Hero's Journey of Sarah Connor, assisted by Tech Sgt. Kyle Reese. 28:47 Ask the old folks about Wartime romances. Things develop very quickly even under dire circumstances. 32:22 Stop motion looks more real than DFX, eh? 36:39 Obsolete technology on display. That's a Kodak Kodamatic 940 that used Kodak instant Color film, developed by Kodak and Fuji to "get a piece of Polaroid's action." Miffed, Polaroid sued Kodak Instant Color Film out of existence before "going away like Pontiac." Fuji made a deal to "keep it domestic," which led to the Instax system, the last one standing in the instant picture market. The sequel is even better.;)
I remember the camera wars. Kodak, Polaroid and others were all constantly suing each other over various patents... right up until digital cameras put them all out of business. There was a Polaroid factory in my city. I remember a family friend who worked there telling us how digital cameras were just a fad, and that film cameras were here to stay.
Now it is time to watch one of the best sequels in film history, Terminator 2, Judgement Day. If you can, watch either the 'Ultimate Edition" or the original release, but not the "Special Edition" or the "Extreme DVD" edition.
This is the first reaction of yours that I've seen, and I was collapsing with laughter most of the way through. I think I may watch a few more of yours. ;-)
I cannot wait to see your reaction to Terminator 2. It is one of those rare sequels that is better than the first one.
I agree with some here, I'll look forward to seeing you guys seeing Terminator 2. Keep up the great work.
Lol 27:31 When he said, "Stay in the jungle...Have kids" I died. You guys are hilarious.😂
Alright!! Can't wait to watch this one with you guys!! 🤗
The phone book is still around, people get them without asking in the mail constantly. You can also get anyone's number just by calling 411 (information) and you'll hear "What city?" then "What listing?".
Terminator in India will go out of order within a week. Especially in 1984.
Only recently, I found out that the exploding truck was a miniature model. Bloody fine job that.
24:53 LOL...exactly. Same reason why Obi-Wan hid Luke on Tatooine, because Anikin will never go there since he HATES SAND! And the Terminator will never find Sarah in India (unless Hollywood and Bollywood strike a deal.)
Mothballs are balls of cotton impregnated with a chemical that repels moths. It has a very distinctive odor. Putting mothballs in a container with clothing, fabric, towels, sheets, carpets, etc. while in storage will protect the cloth or wool from being damaged by moths. Another method of protection from moths is to line the walls of a closet or the inside of a box or chest with aromatic cedar wood panels.
26:49 This future scene has another terminator, and the fun fact the person who plays the terminator in the future is actually one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's bodybuilding friends(Franco Columbu)
During the landline era, people could choose as to whether or not they listed their number in the phone book.
Also if we are talking Arnold movies...you must see Predator, another classic scifi thriller. One of my alltime favorites and I was lucky enough to visit the jungles of where they filmed the movie...I won't say where until you see it...don't want to spoil anything.☺💚
The Villian
Diehard would be a great to react to during the Christmas season.
They killed the couple, Sarah's roommate and her boyfriend. One the terminator doesn't know what the Sarah he's after looks like at that point. He just knew she lived there. So all he knew before Sarah called was the black hair girl could have been Sarah. Killing the guy there. He was just someone that could have been in his way.
My favourite part of this reaction: when Kyle was dead and the half Terminator moved "Not now man, don't, please man we are tired, get out, fuck off! Fuck off!" lol
Oh man I think I just found my new favorite movie reaction channel! I’m definitely subscribing! 😁
Terminator 2 is incredible. Best action movie of all time.
The thing about phone books back in the day was if you didn't want your full name in the phone book, one could fill out a for to list 1st initial of first name, last name.
Specifically lots of women did this to avoid stalkers.
So Sarah Connor in this movie may have listed it as, S. Connor.
That way, the (S) could be other womens' names. Samantha, Sandy, or Sandi et cetera.
The terminator didn't know what Sarah looked like or where she lived, that's why he was looking through all of them in the phone book, killing everyone at the address.
28:55 Welcome to the mindfuck of trying to untangle a time travel plot.
34:50 Your face! 🤣 Best reaction to this scene I've ever seen. 🤣🤣🤣
16:53 Oh my days, bro!! 🤣😂🤣
you should also react to Predator 1986 it is one of the best sci-fi horror movie of all time
1987 actually but yes they should.
1987 possibly the best year for movies, ever!
You couldn't have picked a perfect woman with that personality then her, hands down the best combo, and the way you should do reaction, for we we All seen the movie, now talk your talk ...I remember when that's how it was with my people back when... keep it up this is how it should be done 👍
The reaction to a phone book......WOW!! Wait until she sees a rotary phone, or a phone booth!!!!! :)
The writing for this movie was really great. I still like the reveal that sarah was thinking about kyle when she had her picture taken at the end, since kyle always wondered what she was thinking about during that picture shot. *Enjoy Terminator 2: Judgment Day...one of the best 90's action flicks of all time!*
"why he wants that big of a gun" oh honey that isn't big enough
I remember walking up and down streets, hauling a load of phone books and leaving one by each house's front door. I think I was paid 25 cents per book delivered. (Some people dumped their whole load in a ditch and came back for pay.) At businesses I had to ask how many phones they had, so I could leave one book for each phone. Back then phone books were the best way to find someone's phone number and address -- and it didn't bother anyone. It wasn't like some crazed killer or rapist was going to drive to your house and find you. (Or was it?)
So this was one of those really old films -- from 1984?? Ouch! I'd graduated from college by then. Anyway, like everyone else I recommend TERMINATOR 2.
There was a TV series called THE SARAH CONNER CHRONICLES. In one episode Sarah passes by a house with children playing in the yard. I forget how, but she discovers that it's the Reese residence -- and Kyle Reese is one of the boys playing. She stares sadly at young Kyle for a while then leaves. (I imagine Kyle running inside afterwards. "Eww! Mom! A creepy old lady was out front staring at me!")
36:24 - No she's still in America. She was just speaking Spanish. The American West and Southwest has a huge Hispanic population.
I think the fact that Reese is the Father of John Connor is called a bootstrap paradox.
I am writing this to help out the loud guys and this video and this channel with the algorithm ✌️❤️😚☺️
Moth balls are stored with clothes, to deter moths from eat the clothing. Cedar (species of tree that is a natural repellent) closets were too expensive for many people, so moth balls were invented.
6:25- There she is. The Baddest woman in cinema history. Sarah Connor. 19:26- These two are so good at deep concepts and theories. 28:27- Babies hopefully. John Connor.
The Terminator - talking with a german accent.
The Terminator copying other voices - no german accent.
The movie was considered a low budget production with a cost of about 8,5 mio $. There is a interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger where he tells that he was asked to smash the windows of a car that wasn´t part of the set. Of course the film team got in trouble.
A phased plasma rifle in a 40W range is the best weapon for home defense.
Technology before computers were cheap and cell phones even existed: Telephone Booths were a profitable means of allowing public telephone use in the street. Local calls were $.05 or $.10 or $.25 per 1 or 3 or 5 minutes depeding on year. Long distance was doable at a much higher cost. Phone Books existed as a hardcopy database. Published every year, "White Pages" books contained local residential numbers. You had to pay extra to remain private. "Yellow Pages" books contained business numbers organized by business types and you could pay extra to put a large advertisement to lure customers to you and not to competing business.
Thank you ,i finish work for the day ,watch your reaction ,makes me smile and laugh out loud, love you both Peace
I hope you watch all of them all the way to dark fate.. fantastic movies...
