@@noah-berg the couple of GCs ive been to ((in several states) used to have huge drum rooms in the back of the store you would tenter through glass doors to cut the sound level down. They had quite a few kits set up, a separate cymbal room, and lots of stock. Now, they are essentially in a closet and open to the rest of the store with maybe three small kits set up, a small cymbal room with about half of tge stock not on the rack where you can try them, but stored standing on end. The variety and amount of stock is also way down. They don't carry all of what they used to, such as many heads and sticks. Sure, it is Guitar Center, but at one time, they carried most everything.

The snare sounds Great! Strongly recommend replacing the snare wires. On parallel strainer models when the wires are as pulled as what you showed the sensitivity is going to lack big time hence the name of the drum. I have the smaller model of that same drum (70’s 5x14) and it’s got a GIANT tuning range. I only use it for studio/session work for this very reason so I’d say to comb over all major parts of the drum aka get those snare wires swapped before you sign off on that drum. Also, you might consider a Remo Coated CS for the top head to make it a touch beefier. Thx for the tip on the Vibra-Tite!! And like mentioned by several here, make any vid you like as we’ll watch em all Brotha!!!:)

For a good Bonham sound, you'll never go wrong with medium tuning on the batter, tight tuning on the snare head, and snares turned a little bit loose. They're always be some variations but the right size drum with this formula will always get you close if not right there.

Hello David and greeting from Berlin, Germany.
    1.
The Remo Resonant heads don‘t fit well with the original Ludwig rims. I came accros the same issue once myself.
    BUT:
Ludwig offers a classic Reso-Head whereas to a different construction the ply comes out of the rim sideways.
    2.
Ludwig offers so called „Snare-Guards“ as supply parts for the super-sensitive throw off.
So adding these two things and keeping the original parts would bring it to the original state which could have a huge impact on the re-selling price if intended.
I restored a „Susi“ once myself, but wasn‘t to convinced be quality and sound, so i sold it finally light hearted and got 550€ out of 200 invested.
    Regards.
