Hey man, wanted to thank you for putting out these videos about 18X since there isn't many RUclips videos about it, keep it up bro. About to get myself one of these contracts as well.
I’m beginning my 18X contract and I’m glad I found your channel, currently watching all your vids. I wanted to always be a Marine simply because of that level of excellence and I’ve always seen the army as a certain way but really wanted to do SF so yeah.
Thanks for making the SF prep video that I asked for. I really appreciate it. Your videos are a huge help for anyone looking into the 18x program. Thanks man.
Can a guy enlist as 11x and get the current 40k bonus, then request for a shot at selection or would you lose the bonus? Not to be a weasel, of course selection is more important than a bonus but if it's possible to have both, why not...I'll probably get smoked for this question but I'm 31 and extra coin would make sense financially. Thanks
Nothing wrong with being smart. But that's a question for a recruiter, not sure I'd be able to answer that well, and I'd hate my advice to end up costing you money.
The only thing that has helped me with rucking was more rucking. Which stinks cause it's awful on your body. I personally stick with a walk up hills run down and a slow jog for everything between. But you'll have to find what works for your body.
Thanks for making these videos bro. I wanted to ask as somebody who is active duty Specialist E4 11B who honestly doesn't know much as far as land nav and common knowledge of being a Grunt because I'm in a Cav unit would you say that it's very difficult getting Selected if you are not the best trained in this aspect of being a Soldier? I also here they don't smoke people as much anymore is this true? I here people tell they don't take people seriously unless your an NCO before you go is this true in your opinion?
I'd say you have just as good a chance as any, I have no reason to believe waiting till your E-5 makes much difference. You may want to find some time to practice land nav, but they will also teach you with some really good POI's as well.
@@JohnS677 thanks brother. In your opinion what did you feel was the reason most people did not pass? What is something in your opinion you wish you knew before going? Thank you
@@JohnS677 thank you. Also wanted to ask as a lot of people have told me to go to Ranger Regiment as they say it is a great place to go to great training and he part of some of the best Soldiers in the Military but I wanted to ask as I also here a lot of people hate their lives their apparently is this true? And also do you feel as a SPC and at 27 years old it's too old to go to Batt? Thank you
Jonathan Shelton I haven’t enlisted in the army yet. I want to be in the ranger regiment. However to get an option 40 contract I can’t have any medical waivers. I had a skin graft on my leg in 2009, and I guess it is most likely going to require a med waiver. So I figured my best shot at getting in the regiment is to go 11b then try out for a spot to go to RASP on the way hopefully. I’m very lost right now, not sure what I should do.
@@RUclipsUser-mg1tz talk to a RASP recruiter, there's one in Fort Benning you can call. but I wouldn't sign anything until you get an option 40 if that's what you want.
National guard has different rules. I'm not sure what happens to you if you fail SFAS from the NG but I do know there are NG SF units. You cannot go to RASP from the guard. Ranger regiment is only active duty.
So wait ... You consider 75th to be regular army ?! I kind of disagree, 75th and Green Beret are both part of US SOCOM. For all I know they both get a bunch of shit done.
@@JohnS677 Haha okay. No need to apologize at all, I am even not enlisted yet. I just really want to be in the 75th, and I thought that after all I read about them, they were not actually getting stuff done so I should go for SF instead and I got scared. I need to be able to get a med waiver to get an option 40. I wanted to join 4 years ago but got cancer, so I had to wait 5 years of complete remission. I will be older than most others (I am 27) but I hope it will work out. I've been working my ass off in the gym for 3 years: all the new APFT events are in the bag, except maybe for the running (I bulked too much and am 220lbs for 6'1 atm, which takes a toll on my cardio) and the Hand Release Push Ups (I just started to try those out, and they are hard as hell even though I can bench 264 for 1-2 reps at full range of motion, they must recruit muscles in a different way). Thank you so much for the amazing content, and congrats on getting your Tab.
Just talk to a recruiter, he will give you the most up to date information. When I went through I believe the minimum age was that you had to turn 20 by the time you graduated OSUT to be eligible for an 18x slot.
The #1 thing i am afraid of is ending up surrounded by people I don't relate with at all. Motivation rubs off and so does the lack of it
That's why I knew I had to get into Spec Ops. Good on you for realizing this and making it a priority.

@Noah what is an option 40?

Were you still required to fulfill the six-year, 18x contract after leaving SFAS? Thanks for the videos and your honest revelations.
I signed a five year contract and yes, you are still required to honor that commitment after being reclassed.
If you don’t get selected the first time, can you keep going back to try again?
Yes, but there is a waiting period. Anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
What unit are you part of?
Thank you for this. I have a class date in Feb and I was wondering if you have any training tips for rucking?

Do you get an opportunity to go to RASP at AIT if you don’t have an option 40 contract?
Possibly, but I wouldn't count on that if you are 11B. You can always contact a RASP recruiter. What's your MOS gonna be?

You get reclassed to needs of the army. Sometimes you stay 11B sometimes not.
Thanks. 2 Quick questions can you go straight to trying to do rafs from there?
Also can you do both of these from the guard

@@alexsanjuan2635 I've seen kids come out of highschool have no college or pro athlete experience and get selected. So yes it's doable.
