Hello and welcome to another SEGA Lores video where I cover the lore and development of the cast from the original House of the Dead game developed by SEGA AM1 (Wow Entertainment). In this video, we'll be covering the origin and concept of Dr. Curien, the former research lead of DBR Corporation, who was researching the barrier between life and death to save his son, Daniel, from a terminal illness. Before his sudden transformation, he led the DBR Research program aggressively and commanded the admiration and respect of his staff until the government shut down his research and lost his son to the illness. These events has lead the tragic doctor to unleash his creations upon the world as revenge towards humanity.

Dr. Curien reminds me of Albert Wesker from Resident Evil, both villains were killed but revived and made their final appearances in the sequels

Dr. Curien is in a class of his own.
Both burkin and wesker just wanted power. Curiens actions really are just steming from grief - a completely understandable driving force.
One of the main villains of the franchise alongside his associates Caleb Goldman and Thornheart, became too insane over conquering death when trying to save his cancer-infected son.
When Daniel wakes up from a near-death, he finally opened his eyes to see how reckless his dad was.

I don't think it was even cancer, it was some other mysterious disease.
I hope to see one day a conversation between Curien, Goldman and Thornheart and see what they all thought was their main idea on causing chaos. Stoping death? Protecting the life cycle? Or evolve humanity?
They all had the same principal which was evolution, but only Goldman and Thornheart had balance in mind. Curien thought of breaking balance by altering one’s death.
Curien, Goldman, and Thornheart are underrated villains.
However, Dr. Curien gets mortally blasted by The Magician with its fireball.
I hope when they remake the second game they keep the original zombie designs just add more polygons to them also keep the original music, and keep the saturated brown look everything has. It makes it far more creepy.
One thing I only discovered recently was that, before the Curien Mansion Incident, when Sophie Richards was still one of the researchers at DBR Corp., she and Thomas Rogan were already dating, and he was invited to the mansion multiple times, meeting Dr. Curien in each of his visits.
This means that Rogan and Curien knew each other on more than mere surface level. I wonder if Rogan always suspected that Curien was madmen or not. I wonder if he and Sophie even argued about it, given how eventually the AMS started to investigate him and his experiments.
