Man, is this game unfair... I promise I am not a bad gamer!
Maybe my playthrough was also a nightmare, because I had to protect G from dying constantly. But since this game doesn't offer the full story as a one player game, I had to do the same thing I have done for the first 2 games.
Anyways, I had a lot of fun playing this game! And finding a way to use the mouse as the cursor really helped me play and aim better. I recommend using the mouse even if it has some latency. I hope this video brings some good memories of the good ol' days!

I hope so, too. What they probably censored is words that sound like they could be a bad thing. Which is weird with all the violence in the game 😂
@@trexx45 I know, right? Because the game was developed by a Polish studio, I wonder if these words they censored are curses in non-English speaking countries.
Who knows, but whoever translated their texts is getting fired. There are a lot of translation issues in ALL the languages 😂
I could totally understand why a lot of the music had to be completely redone and sound differently. Apparently copyright holding issues was allegedly the reason why most of the soundtrack was redone along with the source code being lost. This is definitely a lot better but I still got to give a lot of credit the remake's composer for at least trying the best they can get it to sound like the original game. Hopefully the upcoming remake of HOTD2 is better since Sega still has the source code for HOTD2, so music and such should hopefully be retained on that
I feel like this remake with mods might be the best version

10:24 The part where the opening sequence of Chapter 2 meets the background music is particularly fantastic.
I tried to have good rhythm for both intros of the chapters and the transitions to end on beats it feels more satisfying that way, instead of having annoying fade outs.
Honestly, the remake annoyed me a lot when all the songs fade in. The game is filled with so many odd choices in both gameplay and presentation

“I’m talking about” that I edited my own mixes to specifically fit the video, so they don’t fade in or out, like in the remake. I don’t expect you to impressed, but it’s the little details that matter 😄
As I said in previous comments - these remixes were spectacular, and were far better than the ones we got in this remake. This video helps prove that.
I don’t wanna put anyone in the dev team on the spot, but the fans wanted me to do this. And since the fans are the foundation of my whole channel, I have to listen for feedback constantly 😃

I wonder if people will complain again if the remakes don’t get the music again. Honestly, if I were to work on the game, I wouldn’t even try to replicate the songs. To be honest, it’s very disrespectful to do that to music that was once established. I would just make something new.
@@trexx45 the safest and fairest move would be to to release the original music like they did with Re2 Remake. Sure they probably have to go through some paper work but it’s better than a fan made remaster of the music

@@josetomascamposrobledano4618 They probably would use the music and general assets for HotD2. An interview with the devs mentioned that they weren't able to do this in the HotD remake because Sega lost all source code and Sega didn't want ripping the Wii and Pc port assets due to legal and publishing problems. This isn't the case for HotD2 so I'm hoping for the best. They did confirm that they're working on HotD2.
Were not getting remixes or an original graphics mode because of licensing issues and the development team explicitly not being allowed to use assets from the original game.
Our best bet to get all of this stuff into the game along with a light gun is hoping for a PC port with modding and using a Sinden light gun as of current.

I wanted people to prepare for the remake with my music. I posted these about a year ago, hoping that when the official soundtracks came out, they would be a quality product, but unfortunately, it doesn’t really bring me back either.

Probably gonna sound stupid but I played this game what seems YEARS ago and it was my favourite in the arcades. When I heard about the remake I was so hyped, especially for the music, but was slightly disappointed for reasons a lot of people and other video reviews have already mentioned.
What completely and 110% makes up for it is that, through it, I discovered your channel and the amount of great work you've put into it and the remastered music (all of which is fantastic and they should definitely hire you, btw) and I can't explain to you the sense of nostalgia for this game it's given me. It's amazing to see a game community that is still going years later. Great work and kudos to you, my friend. 🙂

Though some of the new tracks for the Remake like Chapters 3, 4, and the boss theme were pretty good imo, I can't deny that this is just SO MUCH BETTER. Maybe it's my nostalgia for the original game but this is still what I would've expected for the soundtrack of a remake for House of the Dead.
I’m glad you like my takes on the originals. I don’t think nostalgia really plays a big factor, I mean, the composer for the remake did a better job capturing the instruments than me. Today I searched up the HOTD Remake stuff after days of being out of the loop...was disappointed with the Boss theme not being a remix of the original song (and I've heard disappointment frmo the other songs as well)...I find your video with the remastered ost in the original game and now this, NOW THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT YEAHHHHHHHHHH
Also found out about the no-flashing patch for the original HOTD1 thanks to your videos, that's what I've always wanted to have to replay HOTD properly on the original version instead of the PC/Saturn port without getting my eyes destroyed, thank you sooooo much!!

The music they did is good music but the original and yours are better I’d say the remake is an solid 7.5-8/10 it’s still amazingly fun if you ask me

@@trexx45 That is also true. Should look and see if anyone in the Yuzu community has began anything like that with the game. From when I tested it though (wanted to see if my Sinden Lightguns barred any better than the Gyro controls) it had some graphical issues/bugs. Could have just been my settings though on Yuzu emulator
I think the light gun issue might take some time for someone like Egregiousguy to fix. I’ve only tested the mouse and it works really good! It’s not perfect because I’m sure it was not meant to be used yet, but Yuzu let’s you use the mouse as a joystick replacement
This soundtrack for this remake fits much better! BTW Could you do remixes of Main Theme from Metal Slug and Hold You Still (Metal Slug)?
I’m doing them, but I am doing the series backwards in order from 3-1 (including X). Unfortunately, those songs might take me a while to make, but I PROMISE that I will remaster them! 😃

I like being red 😂. It’s a weird thing for me, I play better from the left side in any video game. It is necessary in fighting games as well because I think it’s easier to do inputs facing right.
But I might come back to older games and play second player, while also keeping the remasters

Holy shit. This is amazing.
This is exactly what it should be, a remake of the classic soundtrack, not doing something different which it didn't give me 90s vibes, but I don't blame the composer for this because of the copyright issue. I don't know what would hurt Sega if they actually remake the song. Anyways, in this video, with your music suits very well, I give this 8/10. My complaints are: in Chapter 1, the sky should be cloudy day, not night, Magician performed too slow, and you're right about the unfair damage like at 15:27 when the barrel was thrown instantly as soon as you started to enter the lab pool room.
There are even more instances where there is unfair damage. Most of the time the enemies just attack instantly and don’t let the player breathe at all, or enemies attack all at once. The game is definitely not balanced 😕
It honestly sounds like it was meant to be. Also, your gameplay is fine. It's just a lot harder to play this game with the new mechanics and controls.
I was actually using a mouse, that’s why I was shooting faster than usual. The problem with my controls is that I have latency and the dead zones are hard to figure out, as well as the lag on the game. I hope the Performance mode gets optimized
I'm really intrigued by this game development.
They took 3 years to develop a rail shooter, and the results is kinda half decent.
Making game ain't easy, but still, it's a rail shooter, with 4 stage, that can be completed in less than an hour.
Me too. It’s kind of weird that most games take the same time to make in that time span, but have 4x the play hours. I really wonder if production started on 2021 cuz it feels like something held them back
@@trexx45 From the looks of it, I'd say they must have like only a year or so development time, also mentioning about Sega lost source code, which would've made ripping process easier.
Siberian Mayhem, a Serious Sam expansion, took a year and probably some more to make, and it's better than main game.
Best part? The team consists of modders.
I don't want to say much, this has to be a result of bad management.

I remember when this game came out in the 90's, it was a big hit. Other than the dead zombies walking around, the thing that really scared me was watching the scientists run away and say "Help Me" before being killed. The part at 4:50 where Sophie gets smacked across the room was crazy. First she says that she was so scared and then....Wack lol!
New to modding. How do I put your awesome soundtrack in the steam version of the game?
I left instructions in the mod download. Search my community posts. But you basically have to replace the already existing “.bank” files. So open the ZIP file (you don’t really have to extract anything, just grab the items inside) and then put them in the StreamingAssets folder 😃

Hehe, now this is the mod I was waiting. While the new music is alright, and I do like the Magician's new theme quite a bit... it still really doesn't compare to the original game's.

Thing is: the reason some of the themes are not as close to the original is because there are multiple remixes that make some changes to each section.
But I was never trying to compare to the original music, only improve on the concepts established.

@@trexx45 hehe, all cool! And yeah, while I don't like the official remixes as much, I did like their new music in general. I'd say most of the negative reaction comes from the fans' expectations having been bamboozled by SEGA's decision to not buy the rights to the old music.

Literally, there are points where I am shooting seconds beforehand. I just wonder who was looking at the terrible gyro controls and the enemies attack before you barely look at them (as well as tanking hits and headshots) and thought “yeah, this is balanced. Let’s ship this tomorrow morning!”
@@trexx45 I know right! The point at the beginning of the second chapter, where you shoot through the hole, the zombie that's in the hole will instantly dive for you. Its It's cheap!
The original has many surprises and like, two cheap shots. But this one clearly didn’t balance the enemies attacks in speed and amount. That’s why Horde Mode can’t be played 1CC, handgun only. Cuz they attack all at once, and they can’t pathfind their way to the screen properly since the screen focuses on enemies, instead of sections, and keeps moving around, causing them to attack behind you and offscreen
@@trexx45 that's another thing! Enemies can attack off screen! In the original house of the dead, one or two would attack at once, tops. Heck, those ball and chain guys would wait for the other zombies to attack. It felt fair, but challenging. In this one, you put it best. They attack from all around you. Even when it's not fair
They attack ALL at once once they get close. There are instances where they wait, but that was from cooldown from when they just attacked lol

I know. I’m going to do a second playthrough with better frame rate, balanced sounds, horse mode and different character. To not be repetitive
I think that in the remake, the devs couldn’t use the original ost to rearranged ost for copyright reason? But it’s just my theory.
Which is weird, because the game is still owned by Sega, no? It’s their property and they should be able to use it however they need. Copyright works differently for games and music.

But why would the composer not share the rights? He would earn money from this 😕.
@@trexx45 it's a grey area, it sounds like it might be similar to c418 and Minecraft/Microsoft, he wants to keep the rights to his music so Microsoft has stopped working with him so they don't have to keep paying him indefinitely. And maybe the old composer is difficult or impossible to get hold of. I heard that ip reasons were what's held the first game back from ports for a long time.

Yes, that secret is that you got the bad ending 😂. Jk you have to get over 62,00 points to get the good ending. The remake and original game only have three endings, tho.

The creators actually planned to use the original themes but sega lost the source codes or maybe copyright issues that's why they made new themes for the remake
Source codes are for programming, my friend. So it was most likely copyright issues. Or budget issues, because these licenses exist. It is not known by many people that this game was a low budget game and made by people with not much experience in game making 😃

Nope. This is how it is, even at the hardest difficulty. Which is weird, because enemies are way faster, aggressive and stronger

Due to licensing issues, Tetsuya Kawauchi's soundtrack from the original House of the Dead was excluded from the remake. It was replaced by new music, composed by Sébastien Poncelet, that is heavily inspired by Kawauchi's music.
People gotta give some credit to Sébastien for his work on the game’s soundtrack 😃

I did it with lots of love 😁. Jk. I wanted to work on the soundtrack. I sent an email to Forever Entertainment with my resume and previous works…they haven’t responded to a 2 year old letter… I made the soundtrack anyway and released it to RUclips for people to enjoy.
I use Logic Pro X and many other music production and engineering software to make my music. I own many plugins like Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol, to make my acoustic instruments and other synthesizers

It’s poorly programmed. Instead of making it say reload when you keep firing empty, it does it as soon as you waste all your bullets

I have a Community Posts section in my channel with all the downloads to all my mods. Though, this mod works on all platforms, it is easier installed on the PC port. I’m sure if you have mixed games on other consoles before, you could definitely install it to other platforms 😃

of the entire remake soundtrack I think the best song is Chapter 3's but its only okay. rest of the songs could go, and I'm very upset there's no original or other remix albums. They'd be easy inclusions that make the game worth playing more of
I mean, the song in the menu is an original track. Every other song is part of the game, but it tries to “replicate” the feeling of the original Arcade ost. Which in my opinion is quite disrespectful to the original composer. I would have enjoy the music better if it had an original take on the game. It IS a remake, after all.
I was so hyped for this game was going to buy it on release day. Then I saw a video of the first level and the trash music they used and was like "eah without the right music it's just a crao remake" gotta use og music for the nostalgia or the game doesn't feel the same. Also the zombies should have looked more like their old models they were more easy to differentiat from eqchother almost made them like characters. In this game they all kind if blend together. I hope when they remake the second game they do it right keep the original music with NO REMIXING. The second games music was great the way it was.
In my opinion, they should not have bothered making this remake if they were going to have so many set backs and problems. The worst part is that people are overpaying for this 40min game. There are games cheaper and longer than this one does, and it feels like a rip off 😕

It’s just to have the full story. HOD1&2 have different playthroughs if you’re in single player. Plus it adds to the challenge. You get double the enemies hahaha 😁

Well hope HOTD2 Remake is better than HOTD1 Remake (no offense), with the good old beautiful bad voice acting, and hopefully inspired the original OST of the original HOTD2.
I am actually against bad voice acting. People keep wanting to have that as a feature, but I prefer when I can take the game seriously. I do hope that there is either the original remixed music or new remixes that don’t “remake” the originals
