Seeing John next to that vehicle makes him seem immortal. What a crazy timeline of vehicles he has stood next to.
I was thinking the same thing. Started reviewing cars with 8 track tapes, to review this
Right
200+ years from now they will have a hologram of him reviewing cars
Thank you, John for continuing to make videos for us. ❤️👍🙏
Was shocked to see one of these in N W Ohio a couple days ago! In natural stainless steel color...
@@buzzwaldron6195 I have seen a couple in person and I really like it for what it is. I won’t buy new, but will wait for it used. The non-beast model.
It's cooler than I'd like to admit, but I'd still take a $75k Corvette and $35k SUV for the same money.
Have you driven it? It may change your mind.
@@deplorablechump8758 It'll absolutely destroy the roads and be less of a truck than a Ford Maverick which costs a 5th as much
@@coastaku1954 Where do you get that information? 5th of the cost? 🤣 Stop gaslighting buddy
The $35K SUV would be a snoozefest though.
@@Aegisx5 where do you get a brand new $35k SUV?
My kids told me they saw a big refrigerator with wheels moving on the road, and I didn't believe it. Now I see it is for real.
That's exactly what it is. A Frigidaire on wheels.
@@lamarr912 LOL
Is your refrigerator running?
I can see some driver not seeing this black thing at night and smashing head on into it.
0-60 in 2.6 seconds in a 3+ ton brick is wild
Yea you think the laws will see an issue?
It's actually dangerous
@@peachyclean93 You sound fun at parties 🤣🤣
@@Christosan88 There are no laws regarding acceleration - although if done in front of someone else you can get ticketed for "display of power." Pretty wild.
Better carry around extra tires and a diesel generator.
This is going to be a super cool retro review in 30 years
5 years.
@@mrprutten 😂😂😂
I guarantee you no cyber truck will last 30 years
@@jhomrich89 you know what a retro review is bubba
A rare post where the comments section will be just as interesting as the road test itself.
now that's a space age vehicle. Not Bad Tesla, but 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. BLOODY HELL, THAT'S FAST!!!!!
I'm not a big fan of the looks, but I gotta say, it does look better in black.
Matte or glossy black make it look much better.
I have seen a couple of Cybertrucks with multicolored body wraps that look amazing.
I love it. A starkly knife-edged masterpiece. Haters gonna hate.
The new Chevy Silverado EV work truck goes 440 miles for 70k or less. Really the only practical replacement for a ICE truck available. Cybertrucks price and range is the deal killer unless you just need the attention.
Valid points about the the Silvy EV. But with bulletproof panels, only the CyberTruck is Walmart and Home Depot proof 😂
Let's see what the dealer will do about the prices . But you need to drive one .
I love that don is still here from my childhood
John Davis..
@@hailstorm1986maybe it's "Don" to him
This is the new Aztek.
Ouch lol
I didn't think anything could be worse......... here it is
Suspect it will sell better than the Aztek though...
Don't insult the Aztek like that
We call it the "Deplorean".
Saw One like this in Black some weeks ago on my way to Home 🏡 after my Night Shift Love it Looks Cool 2:54
Thank you for a rational review. I'm intrigued by the Cybertruck. I love the non-boring styling but I'm mostly impressed with the tech--steer by wire, 4wheel steering and the gigacastings. They just started showing up on local roads around me. In person, the Cybertruck is smaller then it appears in print or on video, which is a good thing.
I have a few around me and I thought the opposite: it’s way bigger than pics and vids show imo
@@connermt74 Yeah, one passd me while I was walking at night, and it seemed pretty massive!
@@connermt74no more massive than a Ram / Chevy / Ford 1500 class truck, I think.
Just get a Ford Maverick if you need a truck, the world needs less massive macho trucks
@@connermt74 It's smaller than Ram 1500 and Ford F150 and Chevy
Motorweek wrapped it first, they understood the assignment.
😂😂😂
It’s outrageous, yes, but like their giant EV counterparts, not very practical. These are lifestyle vehicles.
I wonder what it will take to get Americans focused on smaller, more efficient vehicles again?
Real how is it not practical. Explain . Real talk
@@LaJuanHughes 1. Aggressive styling hampers outward visibility. 2. Controls are not intuitive and may cause some drivers to be distracted while driving. 3. Belongs in a music video or cruising along Miami Beach instead of a work site. A unique fashion-forward "truck" for celebrities or rap artists.
😂 Americans and smaller is an oxymoron
@@popcultureaddict733 have you driven one. More than a few hours. So many experts who have never driven more one a few hours. I own one and it is the best driving truck out there for 90 percent of people. It doesn't drive like truck.
E beast. It makes me think about the old days of Knight Rider, Streek Hawk, and Auto Man 😮.
I can see that… but, I’ll take that ‘82 Trans Am any day lol 😂 …. 5 Liter “boat anchor” motor and all 👍🏻
something is just so cool about those steel boxes. Reminds me of the old Battlestar Galactica.
The Cybertruck is the DeLorean of the 2020s.
@@JBM425but better to drive daily.
I've seen one of these in my neck of the woods in the exact same black wrap as the test vehicle. One thing about them is that there is no mistaking them from anything else on the road. You don't realize how big they are until you see one up close. They are almost as wide as a normal parking space.
That 220v outlet in the back is an extremely useful feature.
very
The biggest question for me would be reliability. I've read a lot of horror stories about this vehicle, some of which may be true. I also don't need anything that big or that... fancy for my use. I think I could honestly buy a 40 year old Toyota Hilux, spend some money to refurbish it and have a more reliable truck I would enjoy more for a lot less money.
Or a Ford Maverick hybrid, gets better fuel economy than a Honda Civic, it's based on the Ford Escape platform, and can haul enough for any first-time truck buyer
@@coastaku1954 It can haul enough for any old truck buyer who has no need for a full size truck too. (looks in mirror)
@@catjudo1 While also looking cute, safer for pedestrians, easier to drive, cheaper to operate, and probably more fun to drive too
Wow. You disregard the dangerous lack of visibility, extraneous noise, awkward (while driving) touch screen, shoddy build quality, over-the-top price, and on and on… because it looks unique and is quick off the starting line?!
Thank You. I'm glad someone said it.
You just described the average Ford and GM 👏
No, they did not "disregard" it... they mentioned it, in a balanced dialogue but in the history books, it's still going down as one bad ass product, that was created in the early 21st century.
Did you not watch the video? He mentioned all of those things.
It will be remembered as the Pinto of the 2020s. Brakes that aren't at all responsive, dangerously slow steering, frunk that severs fingers.... i can keep going. I like EVs but this is garbage. The EU was right to ban them.
These prices are wrong as of yesterday, October 18th. Price is $80k flat for the AWD
The price is for the now discontinued founder’s edition
And is eligible for 7500 EV credit and 7500 business EV credit. That’s 15k off the price. Incredible value.
If i could afford I would buy it asap. Loved the outside the box thinking.
Except a Rivian and F-150 lightning are built WAY better and cost less
Can we all just appreciate Tesla's chutzpah to release a vehicle that obviously wasn't run past endless focus groups.
Give 'em credit for the 48v architecture, the steer-by-wire and lack of sameness.🤠👍
Why is steer by wire something to be praised ?
PT Barnum approach to marketing
@@senseicorey9979 You could do the research yourself. Redundant steer by wire without relying on mechanical redundancy
But then I wouldn't get to interact with rays of sunshine like you little buddy
@@MrCarGuy Oh, you mean like the Model Y that is designed to kill its rear passengers in an electrical fire? Seems you don't need mechanical redundancy when opening rear doors since software does the trick. Just ask TFL and their THREE WEEK odyssey of trying to open the rear doors after yet another Tesla fail.
Handling and Brake test ??
No need, apparently. Just plot a straight line course and plow on to your destination
I’ve driven the tri motor with launch control turned on. It’s epic fast!
I saw this truck in person, if you need to load something on it’s side, you’ll need a ladder. Design for design’s sake.
Well, yeah. Most truck owners these days never haul anything, anyway, and those who actually do are probably not looking at one of these!
So no difference to any other modern truck? They're all ridiculous tall
It has entry mode where it gets low, and can even squat the back.
@@Abebe345 Funny... the Ford Maverick doesn't need to do that
Tesla cybertruck looks ridiculous and ugly
The area usually reserved for an engine is plenty spacious enough for an LS transplant.
The question I have been asking, which no one has answered, is how did they get past pedestrian impact regulations? The front of that vehicle has very sharp corners.
By ignoring them.
Most likely FSD software. This is the only pickup with a brain. If you steer to close, it will freak out, & avoid colliding.
There are no US pedestrian impact regulations for trucks.
Mid 11s from a stock vehicle is quite impressive.
Great video MW
One ridiculously huge thing he missed is the fact that this truck drives itself. I can’t believe how people seem to not care about such an incredible achievement for human kind.
I’m a fan of motor week , I also noticed that you never mentioned the fact that even though it’s capable of towing 11,000 pounds, You never mentioned how far it can tow 11,000 pounds from what I understand understanding it isn’t very far and it’s not practical for long businesses !
Body panels you can slice carrots with!
Throttle house!!
I saw one the other day and my immediate response was laughter not whoa cool!
The black and darker colors are great on this angular design.
Warm colors on the interior would be cool too.
"Big, tough truck" 🤣🤣🤣
Glad John is still around for these reviews
Stopping distance???
no mention of the fact it can't go through a normal car wash.
The rear view mirror should have definitely been an lcd display… that was a mistake imho
W
after a day you don’t even miss it.
@@anotheryoutubechannel4809 I will most likely just remove it. It would have been nice to have it digital at least.
I wish someone would do a comparo of the CyberTruck and the GM Hummer!
Kinda like a Sasquatch sighting. I think I saw one, but when I turned around it was gone.
Honest review on cybertruck. how refreshing
Those of us that can afford one, laugh at those who did. I'd rather have a truck.
Those that can't afford one are laughing too. You could have bought anything and you picked THAT?!
Uglier than a mud fence.
It's ugly, period.
I just love ❤️ the Cyberbeast design!
Ive owned a automotive repair facility for the last 25 years. I just picked up my BEAST 2 weeks ago. Let me be the first to tell you this is the future. I'll personally never own another combustible engine vehicle. This is my 3rd Tesla product. And the speed on this truck is unbelievable.
BTW - 02:15 is reminiscent of the cars during the GTA 3 era just at greater resolution. lol
Looks like the Fridays with Frank 125 where it was pulled over for tinted windshield
It’s not a truck. It’s a battery with wheels
Is this the same black Cybertruck that got towed in Philly this week? lol
Some insurance companies have stopped making policies with these knifes
Can you tell me some of the companies that have stopped?
@@donlarsenjr2332 I hear it was GEICO State Farm and farmers
Misinformation. All of them still insure it. $138/Month through State Farm with $250 Collision Deductible, and 200k Uninsured/ Underinsured Coverage.
I'm not a fan of Tesla, but 2.6 seconds 0-60 is unheard of! Same for the 11.6 second quarter mile. Wonder how the brakes are?
Hit a curb, those rear steering wheels will be impossible to align
Yeah because Tesla totally forgot to engineer in adjustable tie rods for the rear steer wheels....
They dropped this the day they took the Foundation Series off the website. I’m waiting for them to confirm the tax credit on the dual motor. 72.5k is a much easier sell. I imagine next year it’ll be in the high 50s
I’ve been watching John since 1990 on MPT when I lived in Fairfax, Virginia as a teen.
Love it or hate it, it’s got you talking about it. Would I like to have one? Sure. Would I buy one? No. 😂
Great review. The only issue later vin number the build i think were better.
Toys R' Us
Wake me when we have flying cars like in the Jetsons...
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
I had no idea the Tesla truck could do well over 220mph and could lap the Ring well under 7 minutes. As well as set lap times on other circuit around the world. Great job Tesla, making a truck that's faster than most hyper sports cars.
How did Motor Week get the pricing wrong? This is typical of today's journalists.
Do an off-road test!!!
Best truck on the market
The Cybertruck on the dashboard screen is matt black.as well?
Now that's cool 👌
Every Tesla has an option to change the color and finish of the car on the screen. Pretty neat!
I like to be different so yes i want it. Will I buy it, no, but i want it lol
You said it's been off to a good start. I think having 5 recalls and surplus inventory sitting on lots is hardly a good start.
2.6 to 60 for a vehicle that weighs over 6000lbs is insane lol
For me it took the place that the Aztek used to have.
I'm most disappointed that there was no mention of its lack of voltmeter and oil pressure gauges! 😂
Well considering it's the number 1 electric pickup truck in sales past the F150
This’ll go for $2.2 million in 20 years at Mecum auction. The seller will be the one person who bought one and never drove it. 😂
Yes folks. Tesla's are watching you even when they're not being driven 👁️
I love your reviews!
Imagine getting rear-ended by one of those 💀
The average person who buys one of these would be better suited with a Honda Ridgeline. At least the Ridgeline can tow more and not fall apart.
Run that past all the people who claim that the Ridgeline isn’t a real truck.
@@JBM425 at least you're picking up what I'm putting down. I'd venture to say the Ridgeline is also better offroad in AWD guise.
Truck looks hella better when black
For comparison Tesla Model 3 had a 400K waiting list. Cybertruck? 2 million..
If I have a house, I'll buy one. Never in an apartment. That's a bad look for cybertruck owners. I wonder how much insurance would cost and truck payments each month...
Seen a few of these in the Akron/Cleveland area. Apparently you can rent them on turo?
All that money for a Cybertruck: NO
You in Lancaster?
I dont base my truck purchases on speed. This "truck" is way overpriced, ugly and not practical by any sense of the word. You cant get it fixed anywhere but the dealer, accidents cost more than the truck is worth and insurance companies hate you so much that they will just cancel you for buying one. Nope.
couldnt imagine a dumpster rocketing towards me at 2.6 seconds
I thought they only came in stainless steel.
6:07 "hyper-sports-cars", the parlance is just hypercars.
It’s a rolling refrigerator that shouldn’t have been reviewed on this channel. Because nobody that’s into cars and knows about would ever get it or any EV. Can’t wait till it becomes worth to buy one and put a V8 in it. To make it a real truck
Steer by wire? That's gonna be interesting when the steering motor fails while going down the road at 75 MPH.
One would hope there actually is some sort of physical connection to the wheels for when that motor fails. Not if, but when....
Triple Redundancy like a modern airliner. Perfectly Safe.
@@LordTimelord😂😂 ok
Looks bad at that angle 3:19
Looks bad at all angles
I think it looks cool in all angles.
Flimsy vehicle.
Build quality is embarrassing. For 100K +.
I like the cyber truck because it is different in an automotive scene that is becoming increasingly bland and conservative. I dislike the steer by wire and complete reliance on touchscreens for everything.
Gotta say, it looks better in black. Can't make out the lines as easily.
Why not solar panel the roof?
Because the tiny amount of current generated isn't worth the extra cost, complication, and fragility.
RUclipsrs have really gone to town on this. "Whatthediesel" nearly destroyed one! He ripped off the rear bumper, etc....
See them all over here in California but I've never seen one hauling anything.
Just like most of the pickups on the road.
