There's actually nothing about pacifism that would be against fighting as a sport. Pacifism as a philosophy is based on the idea that violence (i.e. 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 violence intended to force one's will on another through physical means) is unjustifiable. MMA is two people who agree to fight each other based on a predetermined set of rules, most of which are built around safety. These people aren't pacifists, they're just squeamish.

And the fantasy of being a warrior is fantastic motivation for being exceptionally fit. And to be able test your reflexes…can’t wait to be able do shine kind of sparring regularly. And the more I ruminate on that, and the more I consider the philosophy of martial arts, it makes sense. We train, we fight, we push our bodies and minds to a point where we know our boundaries, to surpass those boundaries. It’s not so much an outward struggle as much as it is an internal struggle.
Bah, maybe I’m just thinking too much about it. lol. It just depends on how you see the world and your place in it, understanding the three parts of being human, mind, spirit, body, and the connection between them.

The fundamental difference here is that these are people who have agreed and prepared to fight each other - it's not some random thing that just broke out and someone who had no idea what was coming was attacked. There are rules and as badly as you can get hurt doing this, you knew that going in and accepted the risk.
I think most people would agree that if they saw someone get assaulted on the street they would react similarly to these people - shock, how can people do that to someone else, etc.

I have no problem other people not liking things I like. These people were made to go out of their way to watch something they have a predisposition to dislike and the experience they were given here validates their position. I can't be forced to like things I don't like either, and I won't even bother mentioning what these are because who cares? But if I were put in a show like this about those things, I would obviously react as expected. But since I'm commenting on this channel, I like the sport of fighting and the practice of martial arts.

Grew up in the 90s w no parents basically. As a clueless young man with gangster rap and alternative metal influences, Pulp fiction, and Bloodsport, etc..was easy to gravitate towards violence. Having a coach that taught how to channel anxiety, depression, rage and all that bs into a positive force in life is a gift that keeps giving. I owe everything I have to my lessons on discipline in the martial arts. Its alot for than just a fight.

I enjoy combat sports but I've seen videos of fighters who didn't get the care they were promised at the end of their careers. They should always make sure to take care of those that used life and limb to provide entertainment for us during and at the end of their careers IMO. Though I'd like to think its something that's naturally done.

I don't compete in MMA so maybe my opinion doesn't matter much. But my brother does so I've watched a fair bit of it and while my initial reaction, years back, was fairly similar to those three, I have grown to enjoy it (-ish). The one thing I've never been able to be OK with is punching an opponent who is clearly knocked out. I understand why it makes tactical sense. I also understand it's hard to instantly snap out of the "fight mode". But whenever I see it it just disgusts me. So I do get some of those reactions.
