Love the horn element used at the first second of this track. Let's you know this song is going to be intense and action packed right away and it does not disappoint.
Amazing job!!!
I want you to know that I genuinely thought this was official soundtrack. You did an amazing job as a fan of the series recreating this soundtrack
Man coming into this was not expecting much but i like better then the original
This is official lol
ArkLucen are you sure? It sounds different from official
ArkLucen there are artificial instruments in there not recorded instruments that the official mix uses
same here, I thought the same.
I'm overwhelmed by the incredible response to this orchestration - thank you everyone for checking it out, sharing it and for all the great feedback. I'll release it on other media platforms next week after I've made some small adjustments to the mix. Tifa's Theme is coming up next, and I hope to release it before the end of the week!
Did you use audacity to separate the sounds from the trailer? Or some other application? This is so spot on, whats your process?
You bring the heat, man! Your music has a solidified place in my game's music folder, lmao...
You really are a treasure to the gaming remix community, and I hope you keep doing this! Thank you for your amazing work!
PapaWill I use a wide range of orchestral sample libraries and record all parts with a midi keyboard or write the notes in. I ripped the audio from the trailer and recorded over it to try and get it as close as possible. If you want to see how it’s done, check out videos by Daniel James - he does these great walkthroughs and streams while trying out new sample libraries!
OMG - do I smell a whole array of tracks adjustments and tweaked once more on your end! CAn't wait for Tifa's theme!!
Du är bäst Pontus!
Nobuo Uematsu would be proud.
absolutely
That awkward moment when the actual version sounds completely different
somehow i feel that this is the ultimate theme and even the original will not beat it
Yes he would
@@TheHrebo the piano ver. at AC was also stunningly beautiful to listen,
The only thing I imagine listening to this is my team disapearing while bahamut comes in the battle.
Pingüino en llamas same here.
while i go eat dinner and KOTR comes out
@@joejoema KOTR in full HD, with 1:23 blasting in the background, while the thirteenth knight slams down with Excalibur?
BE STILL, MY HEART
@@joejoema I thought you were referring to Knights of The Old Republic on the first read.

90’s kids never grew up. We just evolved and remade ourselves. And it’s very happy and pleasing to see our favorite classics have done the same. I legitimately thought this was a prerelease official track from the soundtrack of the remake. You’ve done an incredible job.
Congratulations, this fits the remake incredibly.
i close my eyes and imagine this playing along when cloud and his team are fighting in midgar
Yeah it sounds like exactly like the remake in the trailer he hits everything so closely
We all gunna be old as fuck by the time the whole remake is done..... :( tune rules tho
@@anthonyrodriguez4896 That was the point of this video
@@jaysherriff767 Dude I'm 33. FF7 was my goddamn childhood. I'll be 80 by the time I see the end, won't I?
Holy smokes this is actually incredibly close to the one from the trailer. Amazing job!
22 years of people making their own version of this song, and I still find one that gives me goosebumps.
Amazing work!
It is amazing isn't it.
It really is amazing
This honestly sounds like a masterful remake of the original. It's has a Yoko Shimomura vibe to it.
プレイステーションでFFⅦはまって やりました。戦闘音楽がずごく好き 最後まで聴いて 敵を 倒していました。懐かしいです。
8/10
Cons: didn't hear the guy go ''ahh'' as if he finished drinking an ice cold Coca-Cola
...Oh yeah, forgot about that...I think it's supposed to be splash cymbal, but I always heard it as a coca-cola drinker solo too.
Couldn't find a good sample for it, but I know what you mean :)
I kinda wanna see a Coke commercial with this to hype the Remake, lmfao...
I think its supposed to represent more of an anvil being struck since Midgar is industrially based
Just a tip.The song Abracadabra by Brown Eyed Girls have one. Pretty sure you can find the vocals out there.
Could be funny to try and distord the "ah" to make it sound male.
Are you submitting this to nobue uematsu? I think he will praise you if you do that
This is playing as I battle my way through this essay and it's very appropriate, it's me vs the essay.
Wish me luck fellas.
good luck Matthew
Hearing the songs in the trailer was really weird cause I'm so used to hearing your arrangements of them
Its very strange, because I Saw the trailer After hearing Pontus work :
The whole Idea is basically the same.
Pontus have you ever considered composing for video games ?
It's especially weird when you have Pontus's music in-game...
Man I love the sequence of percussions at 0:30, really sounds like 2 fighters are exchanging blows. Even though the remake is out, I still come back and listen to this from time to time. Great work.
Awesome work! Love how you managed to recreate those parts we heard in the trailer!
It’s crazy how accurate to the Remake this is, and this came out a year before remake’s trailer that featured this song. Lord have mercy you are talented.
This is so similar to the remake its scary!
Idk if it beats the original track, but damn it still gives me those goosebumps
I think this is fan made. Check the description
Jay Zie yeah I know that, but let’s be honest if you compare this to the one played in the official trailer they’re practically the same
I've just been playing the original FF7, and I don't think it quite beats the original but that's probably down to nostalgia
Average Kraut see but that’s the thing, for most nostalgia is one of the key elements of the remake, that’s why we all want it so bad 😁I understand where you’re coming from though
Yeah, no.. it's definitely an improvement, mate. I think there's a fine line between "nostalgia" and "delusion" lol
My god, I never thought I'd see a cover that I would 100% want in ANY game, let alone my favorite game of all time. This truly captures the remake to a T. Fantastic job.
02:35 I like this variation part so much!!Thanks for the great arrangement.
2:27 to the end was so perfect.
Original version: Oh boy, here I go killing again!
This version: THIS SWORD IS MY ERECTION!!!
I'm laughing at this WAY too hard
DinsFir0 *Bows gracefully and blow kisses
こんだけ聴いても飽きない曲ってなんだよ,,,
gotta keep the industrial bangs and clanks percussion or it wouldn’t be the same! glad to hear they’re still here
I don’t like fan made covers from games but I have to open a full warm heart exception for this one.
Superb.
Honestly, I agree. This man here did an excellent job with the FF7 soundtrack and its evident he knows how to make good orchestral renditions! Worth every penny buying this album off of iTunes!
OP, poo poo… 🙄
I mean this is based on the E3 version of the song, however I find very few good fan-made remixes of songs nowadays.
Honestly, I think this arrangement is more powerful than the official remake track. Excellent job.
I agree
For me it's kinda the opposite. It feels too "floaty", not enough power behind the instruments. The original has real force behind the instruments so it gets you more pumped up. Here I kinda feel like I'm being strangled/don't have enough air to breathe due to how light the instruments are.
@@TheRealXartaX I mean I wrote that 3 years ago - having listened to the FF7R soundtrack a lot since then (I mean a lot) I consider the remake's soundtrack a triumph. In short, I agree with you
@@Boxer_419It wasn't meant as criticism of your comment :) Just giving my opinion.
The first fan-made battle theme I've EVER heard do justice to original material. Great job Pontus.
Pontus and Alex Moukala (seriously, definitely check out his stuff!), both are legendary!
Volltreffer!!! Besser als erwartet!! Das Lied ruft ein Limit Break hervor!!!!! BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Loved the instrumentation and how you recreated the build-up in the trailer. This is insanely well-done.
This make a me shed a tear. Truly a beautiful song
Jumping back and forth between this one and the remake version of this song......this one is better . Thank you so fucking much for making this my good man
100%, the man did a great job with the theme
Waiting for my PS5 to arrive, for primary one game series, guess what it is 😄 this music is directly linked to it. Love the version of it, hypes me up for when the battle begins! Awesome work as always! 🙏
Shed a tear mate, wonderful compisition. Captured the emotion of this theme perfectly :')
This is astoundingly similar to the official one.
Only found this version this week and cant stop listening. Somehow, 4 years ago, you released something so good that not even SquareEnix could match it in their remake. Nobuo would be proud, indeed!
Those first seconds of the intro with a PlayStation start up sound was godlike. 10/10
What I really appreciate about this is that even though you've orchestrated it, all the different tracks and lines in it still retain the original character of what they had in the uh, original. Far too often I feel as if orchestrated takes on tracks assign the completely wrong instrument to a certain part and it feels "off" but this feels like it has captured the soul of the original spot on while still giving it the depth of an orchestra epic.
As much as I love this, it's almost TOO epic for a normal battle theme.
Perfect as a dnd BGM ;)
For mine, anyways.
It aint the trailer version but that will do. Its more than close enough.
I really like your twist to every FF VII songs that you've made. Somehow you made them more epic and grand, but doesn't lose the nostalgia to the original. I wanted to say a big thank you for your hard work, you need more recognition !
this has a much more original FF7 flare to it than the remake version does. i like it. good work man!
Wow wow wow !
You are always creating amazing pieces of work.
But I didn't saw this one coming. You added an efficient tempo to sustain the whole battle Idea.
Nice job Pontus !
found where im getting my new playlist from. I call it "close my eyes and cry happily"
this theme never gets old.. your version is very good, thank you
*why am I feeling nostalgia for a game I never played*
I immediately thought of Pontus when I heard the iconic Fighting theme in the extended E3 trailer. Thank you ❤️
Absolutly amazing
Wow... listening to the intro, my first thoughts were "ok, this sounds decent" but then the key change at 0:20 lit me up. Really nice work!
I mean this is based on the trailer version from E3.
I bet this is gonna be better than the official. Fan made tends to have more souls than the official remakes.
This is closely based on the E3 version, the last part is where he took some liberties.
Wait wait wait - you mean to tell me this is fan made??? I thought it was actually made by the japanese. Wow this is really good.
did they use this in the remake what the hell. this sounds soooo official! well done
I've heard other man-made versions of this theme song, and they're great. But what I really like about this one is that it captures the same style and feel of the original battle theme. Listen to this one, and then the original one. You'll see what I mean.
This is the best remake I've heard in my fricking life
Honestly watching these kinds of FF7 Battle orchestra version for some reason makes me imagine Cloud Strife looking at a stop watch for some reason
Oh my God! this version of FF7 battle theme gave me goosebumps!!!
1:15 Ok...I hear you on the 'closing verse' I guess you can call it that. Nice. But on this 2:26, the change and additions, how you did it on this...Intense. It's like "if you didn't hear me the first time, you heard me NOW!!!!" Awesome!!!! I love how you did this.
All your tracks blow my mind. Wow.
Amazing work! Your other version was really good, but you've managed to break your limits!
don't think i didn't notice that joke xD
Heh heh heh...
@@rawkfistgaming you my good sir have earned a like and a sub
Why thank you, lol... I don't have much content right now, but I have a unique series planned.
@@rawkfistgaming ohh, okay. what is it? (if it's a surprise for your fans you don't have to tell me, i won't be offended)
Yes i found the one in the E3 trailer ! (i think) 😃
Close to. But not quite. :p I also wanna find the official remake version.
Omg yass u kept the old school feel to it. I love this version mix of the new and old.
Love it! stick your headphones on close your eyes and your back in 97 fighting for the planet. not long to go before we do it again.
Just found this channel and, oh boy, there are some beautiful work here!
I love the key/chord transition during the first 30 seconds of the song. The sound piques ones curiosity and leads into a very soulful interpretation which made the original so good. I am also comparing your piece to the remastering done by Nobuo Uematsu for the Remake, so please don't take my criticism too harshly because I know that would be an unfair comparison overall. There are a few things I would like to criticize:
The use of horns was done perfectly, the trumpet and french horn sounds used perfectly encapsulated the energy of the original. This inspiration has the exact essence of the original, without any added emotional inflection [or] reflection which a live orchestral revision contributes to the mood of the song. I praise this, I hope your song gets on the remake and you should definitely try to get someone at Square to hear your work.
However, there is an absence of [Bass Strings] and the lacks pounding of [Drums] heard from the intro which added to our listening sound stage and lacks that reverb slightly marred the impression of the work. " I do enjoy bass but I am not a bass head and I generally prefer a neutral balanced sound from most of my own music with a few exceptions. This song was listened to on my 1000w surround system, akg earphones, sony and koss headphones, and on my laptop speakers."
The emphasis on horns can be too much, extended listening causes fatigue. "Which ironically wouldn't happen if it was in a game because many battles don't last long enough for the song to complete." The remaster has a wider use of instruments which I cant dock you for, but there it almost eliminates listening fatigue. There could have been a tweak to the formatting where there was more of an emphasis on horns and then another section focus more of stringed instruments? There are elements of growth as the emphasis changes within the battle that is going on during the track and I mean this literally as that is the motif of the song.
The remaster instills a sense of fear, uncertainty, dread. It immediately puts you in that theoretical battle. There a few minor instruments in the remaster which stand out; a few minute' instances where I hear cymbals, a triangle, and clear inclusion of a xylophone which added to the chaos and inhibited listening fatigue due to the introduction of new elements throughout.
Your version of this classic does something different. The fading into the original theme by adding your introduction makes it stand out among many of the versions I've heard over the years who have failed to execute it properly. There is a build up of intensity and uncertainty and then relief as that transition happens which made me shed a tear, it was magical. The remaster too has a sense of wailing as the violins, horns, and section transitions culminate into a finality by the end. Your version does so much to retain the same level of clarity and respect to the original, I'd even say it is EQUAL to it. It has all of the elements which made the original great. I'd listen to your song as the main battle track with the remaster being used for a cinematic or boss fight. In fact, this can be done with modding, maybe I will try it out one day! :D
This is truly an amazing version, there are only minor criticism I could find with the song which doesn't make me feel inclined to turn it off which so many other versions readily do at the drop of a hat. I am surprised you aren't already working at Square or for another big production company!
Is there any place to buy a FLAC or WAV lossless copy of your song, none of the current distributors offer it?
Thank you for making this version, criticisms aside and when being compared to the much larger pockets Square has with their remaster this is a masterpiece. I pounded the like and subscribe button, you are a boss!
Thank you for both the praise and constructive critizism! Both are much appreciated! The lack of low end (sacrificed for more clarity) is something I've been struggling with and I'm still learning and trying to improve my sound. No FLAC available anywhere I'm afraid - I only recently made a point of making FLAC's available on Patreon, but this track is not among them.
@@PontusHultgren TWO YEARS FRIEND. DO YOU PLAN TO RELEASE A NEW VERSION WITH THE WUB WUB?
Bro. THIS...is...FIRE!!! Gonna set it as my ringtone. Lol.
This is absolutely incredible
Man, that's awesome! Love the sound and arrangement. Looking forward to more FF7 from you :D
One of the most beautiful fan made pieces I’ve ever heard.
Fantastic piece! It’s so fresh while paying homage to the past! ❤️
Thank's Ami!
What I don't like here is 1:09 to 1:30 where piano parts are covered with the trumpety-like ones.
It may be a result of my musical preferences but - when you have an epic solo motive - I play it f... loud!
Otherwise - Keep up the good work.
Love your creations!
Fantastic job!! Congrats Uematsu-san would be proud!
FFVII & FFVIII had the best tracks in all FF in my opinion.
It was Nobuo Uematsu's peak in my opinion.
IX too
This takes me back.
God! you know how glad I am that you recreated the battle theme even before the actual OST comes out... can't stop listening to this. thank you and hope to hear more of your recreation of classic game OST.
YES!!! I was looking for something like this ever since I saw the trailer and this SLAPS!!! It's damn near perfect. Thank you so much!
Also, can we use your music in projects as long as we credit you proper?
I keep coming back to listen to this. I remember listening to your arrangement of 'Those Who Fight' 4 years ago, and thought it was a really impressive effort, but it's clear to see you've come leaps and bounds since then. Previously I felt that the only orchestral arrangement of the battle theme that had ever really captured the spirit of the original was Kazuhiko Toyama in the 'Fulfilled Desire' medley at the end of Crisis Core. But I think this tops even that.
Ah this music always reminds me of the good old grinding times.
The Mideel region will live on in our hearts.
Hah! Omnislash
2:15 that Trumpet kicking in
Incredible!
Okay honestly this has to be the most epic version of the song I have ever heard dude! especially at 2:30
I got goosebumps hearing this one.. Great! 🔥
Wow, this is great, even more impressive that you made this in such a short time
Hopefully Square just buys all the songs you have made and puts these in the remake because this is perfection!
Uploaded 5 weeks ago and got 200k views? Damn FF7 is still alive for sure!
Maybe it's because of the trailer of the remake but I think that's great view count for a video with remastered theme on a channel with 9k subs isn't it?
You have an impeccable ear for sound. Amazing siphon of the remake composition! You are truly gifted! Very enjoyable track
mistook this for the Games version for a sec on my playlist. u really nailed the remakes style.
Just watched a bunch of sakuga set to this and I can't stop. Won't stop.
22 years later n this theme's still stuck in my head
This sounds so good - thank you for your amazing work!
My childhood has returned lol
This has to be one of the, if not THE best remixed work that has been made of this track. Congratulations dude!
So awesome love final fantasy games
This is one of your best works. Really impressive.
Is it possible to use this in one of my videos if I give you credit?
I've been listening to your remixes and covers for years now. It's great to finally see you getting all the views and likes you clearly deserve!
Wow! Somehow you made it even better than your previous version, which was amazing already! I hope the one we get to listen on game is as great as this. :D
Square really should hire you to do the music for the FFVII Remake, your awesome music would compliment the amazing visuals perfectly!
You can hear some of his music in-game with the mod Echo-S.
I’m currently playing through FFVII right now for the first time ever and this is awesome to hear!
This is better than the piece I heard in the trailer and I hope the whole thing sounds something like this.
I fully endorse this version (arrogant, aren't I? - but I hope you get what I mean). If I may offer a small suggestion, which I admit to be possibly skewed by nostalgia, in that it may need an extra bit of 'oomph' here and there, just to make it not just an awesomely well-made song, but also to give that sensation that in a battle scene, and it can go both ways. I cannot fault what you've made here, I absolutely enjoyed it all.
You've done a superb job keep it up!
Awesome you have the old stuff and bring the new so fffing good. Thank you for the joy you give to me and my friends you are the best!
