- "Fighting", also known as "Let the Battles Begin!" or "Those Who Fight", is the battle theme for Final Fantasy VII. It was composed by Nobuo Uematsu in the original game (1997) as well as in the Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020).
This is a combined extended soundtrack. One track was made by the extremely talented Pontus Hultgren and the other two tracks are from the Distant Worlds III album and music used in promotional trailers for Final Fantasy VII Remake. See below for links to these videos/soundtracks.
The visuals are from promotional videos released by Square-Enix for the Final Fantasy VII Remake and from the motion picture, Final Fantasy: Advent Children (2005).

@Luc Mc Caslin I'll be frank with you: the release of the remake is the SOLE reason I am planning on buying a new console. Because I simply cannot stand the thought of NOT playing FF 7 after all of the hard work Square's team put into it. I'd be kinda rude, you know...

Played this game in 1997 at my childhood house basement I was 7 years old. 31 now and this theme still gives me the chills. Been waiting for the remake for long time. Cheers and stay healthy, brothers and sisters !

Wow, didn't realize how much I loved this until I listened to it by itself. It really does feel like a modern version of the original. If you listen with headphones, you can hear the metallic clangs in the background just like in the original!

I mean tbh, I wonder if this is actually Uematsu. He's had very serious health issues lately and I doubt he had much time to work on the game's music. It's even stranger if you think that the music we hear in the trailers sounds veeery Masashi Hamauzu, so maybe he arranged the battle theme?

They got it so fucking right! It has all the poppiness and classic sounding bits infused with a new modern take. I love it. For instance at 0:31 the sound like someones dropping a metal bar or clanging some together, a small but huge attention to detail.
That metal clanking sound was clearly heard in the original it's not new.

Good lord, I hope they don't take THAT much longer, I'm not sure I can go for Bugenhagen's age. XD Granted, Nanaki is 50 and Vincent is MORE OR LESS in his 50s as well (if you include the time he was sleeping), so that will get me through 20 or so episodes... XD
...oh yeah, and this theme is great. A worthy new version. It sounds almost like a boss battle, though, but this playing in parts like the Pillar scene or the taking of the rocket...will be EPIC!!

I spent hours grinding at the Shinra Battle Simulation last night and have had this song on repeat in my meat brain all day
Oh but now my data is corrupted, and is completely fucked! Haha, that is bitter as hell. Only save files I can find are the 100% complete ones and I don't want that. I didn't have all the materia I would be using maxed out after all. Finishing the game from after the Shinra Battle Simulator with all maxed Materia and level would't feel great

Remember back in the days when i was like 8/10ish, watching my cousin playing this game on playstation, i didnt understand anything or what was going on, but i freaking loved it - specially the music, i was hooked from the start.
Never actuelly played FF VII myself, just recently my irl mate have been streaming it, and i gotta admit - Its a whole new experience, and i gotta try it.
This is FFVII Which from what ive heard of everyone - is the BEST of the BESTS.
My first final fantasy era was with Lightning - love the games & storys.
They didn't have to go all out for the basic battle theme, but I am glad they did, because this SLAPS.
Imagine they give us a bit of nostalgia and give us an option to have the original FF7's battle theme as the remake's battle theme

Man, the "metal sounds" incorporated in the battle theme REALLY bring me back to the old JRPG games of the golden era of PS1. They somehow reminded me of the other games such as Chrono Cross and Xenogears (albeit coming from Yasunori Mitsuda's work ). Brings tears to my eyes :').
Particularly the Edge of Death (from Chrono Cross) and Leftovers from the Dreams of The Strong/Yggdrasil Theme (from Xenogears) XD!!!

Damn the theme alone gave me goosebumps
The main thing I that stands out in this soundtrack remake (any version) that I absolutely love is the heavy metal iron striking sound effects they used. It reminds me a bit of the Terminator 2 soundtrack.

I would be willing to buy Cloud, Midgar, and all of the FFVII conten as DLC again at double price if it meant at least three new tracks being added as well as all five (or more) tracks being the new remakes. This music is just awesome, and the Fight On song is still pretty good despite it not resembling the old song all that well at the moment.

Better yet, make another Final Fantasy DLC character (maybe Black Mage?) with another stage and have it add music from all over the franchise. Including a new remix of One Winged Angel. It's a damn violation of the Geneva Convention that we didn't get that remix in the base game.

The way this track uses a hollow metal pipe noise to stand in for the weird breathing noise from the original track is extremely cool.

I cant wait for the remake of the 0:15 moment. To think this group of legends went and raided north crater to take the planetery calamity jenova and god sephiroth to save the planet single handedly might be reanimated in hd. They world class heroes !!! In octopath traveler it is also 8 characters who end up saving the world. You can see where the inspiration came from !!

As much I love the final version, this one feels more energetic and heart-warmed. I felt like this should be included in Part 2 and that female choir is just beautiful at the end.
