Correct. Also keep in mind that most of the cereals produced in Germany (2022 41 million tonnes) are consumed by livestock so this has a direct impact on meat price. Meat production is also subsidized and while prices go up for the consumer, the farmers do not see the benefits of what we pay with taxes. That sounds like a great outcome though? the current situation is completely unsustainable, and cutting it is definitely for the best. There have been a lot of reports how these incentives make pretty destructive practices the most profitable. The only issue i see is how little time they've given the farmer to adapt. To be fair, starving millions to death will greatly reduce Germany's climate impact 😎 On a serious note this is a negotiation. A lot of people think this too far, thinking it a failure of farmers or a failure of the government. But it's not like the government fired all the farmers, or farmers decided to stop producing food. Farming subsidies are extremely important, and very complex. It makes sense that from time to time there are serious misunderstandings and differing views and interests. This is a negotiation.
Subsidies is like a drug. Sooner or later you develop a dependence. We have given agricultural subsidies to EU farmers for decades, and that has caused the land prices to rise. It has almost doubled over the last 20 years. But now the bubble is bursting and farmers find that they have invested too much in a risky business model. In the long run we need to replace EU subsidies with a mandatory self insurance, so farmers can save themselves.
This protest is a opportunity to explore biodiesel and -gas as optional fuel for farms. After subsidised investments the fuel will be nearly free of cost to farmers..😌🚜 it will also help food security and sustainebility. The nontaxable diesel had a red colour. By Law, all cars and trucks must have a section of the diesel line to the engine made of a see-through plastic.
If a farmer is caught nontaxable red diesel in his car, he will have to pay a large fine and possible lose his right of tax-free diesel for his farming equipment!
Farm diesel absolutely has tax on it. In Alberta only 9 cents worth of road tax is not added and the federal carbon tax.
I thought that the markets will regulate themselves? Demand and supply! The average taxpayer has to bear the full burden of paying everything off. Why no tax reduction for the folks that pay all the bills? Tax the rich!
Exactly, the farmers are part of the rich!

@@ismaeliafa: Fact: farmers are socialists .
Farmers bite the taxpayers hands.
They already own mote than half the real estate in the country and now they want cheap fuel not unlike the test of the German rabble who have to pay full price. Ugh.
They do seem greedy here.
At an average of £10,845 per acre of land value plus the value of their farm machinery, farmers have great wealth. To insist on public subsidy when for the last 30 years they have been asked to diversify (holiday homes etc...) only displays a stubborn refusal to adapt. Outside Germany in the UK king Charles still receives over £1 million per year in farm subsidies, the Duke of Westminster receives £300,000 in subsidies.
If we democratically insist on agricultural subsidy, let us target small and medium farmers.
ok then prepare to start importing food. no farmer will want to work the fields anymore.
@@juamu1132 True farmers do not work ONLY for money! How is it possible that All mankind's activity is motivated only by money? Specially when money is created out of thin air??

Such a dumb move in turning off your reactors. Either way you'll bring them back when you have a new ruling party soon enough.
Oh, those poor farmers!
The Netherlands has had this very movement in recent years, and they gained some political power. And big surprise; the new farmer's party is extreme right wing.
And wouldn't you know it? The biggest group of millionaires in the country ... are farmers.
Those poor farmers. Without subsidies, they won't have anywhere to store all their millions of euro!
Says the one benefiting the most from cheap food.
@@ruppollock4392 How exactly do I benefit MOST?
Does not everyone have to eat?
Anyway, seeing as I am quite picky, I don't buy cheap food.
I actually buy from local farmers - which you would think would be cheaper, as they don't have to transport it, but is actually more expensive. So I pay them a good price.
I grow some of my own food, but I would need to rework the garden (that's the plan for this year!) to grow more.
So in conclusion;
Your comment sucked.
Id be curious to see what the comments said if food was valued in the store according to its real production value, whiteout subsides. Id guess many would start growing food 😅
That sounds like a great outcome though?
the current situation is completely unsustainable, and cutting it is definitely for the best. There have been a lot of reports how these incentives make pretty destructive practices the most profitable.
The only issue i see is how little time they've given the farmer to adapt. They've likely all planned for these subsidies to still be there in 2024, so they're most likely going to be forced to sell at significant loss until their current contracts expire. And thats going to ruin lives, which is never a good thing.
Less tax on fuel is not a subsidy , it is a tax ,now get rid of the tax and sell fuel without tax that subsidizes all kinds of social programs then we will see .
In portugal diesel is 85 cents at the pump with taxes 1.68 euros - for farmers it is at 1.35 euros . that is not a subsidy .
Independent farmers will have to sell everything, big corporations will buy everything up.
Big corporations will then lobby ( aka bribe ) the politicians for subsidies and laxed regulations.
The consumers will still pay more, and have bad quality food.
Nestle wins.
Import Food from Mexico 🇲🇽 or Brazil 🇧🇷 half price including transportation costs 😂😂😂😂
All the urbanites complaining about these protests are the epitome of "biting the hand that feeds you".

You better read my report! New Zealand dairy product just got import tax free - "0 IMPORT TAX" into Asian Chinese market. So far, New Zealand & British Australia are the biggest agriculture products importers of the Asian Chinese market which is 1.6 billion population market. Where are the EU products in Asia market? There are lots of political marriages from New Zealand and China leaders, so New Zealand & Britsh Australia could win the market?
Pls don’t educate EU people. EU countries not care about Chinese market , they only care Chinese human rights and political issue.
Instead of paying Ukraine and Israel with billions of dollars, fund these farmers; they will provide you with something in return. Do not use your taxes to fund others.
That is different. Funding Ukraine and Israel might have rebate to those government members, Funding farmers getting nothing .
Subtitle: "When do German farmers want it?"
The failure of the EU to handle basic commodity allocation throughout Europe is pretty striking considering that's what the European Coal and Steel Community was founded to do. Romanian and Polish farmers blockading Ukraine and Dutch, French and now German farmers protesting their national governments all while munitions promises to Ukraine go unfulfilled. The EU looks completely illegitimate.
I love farmers and hate subsidies

Ghost?
Respect, recognition, freedom to save the/their environment, tradition, culture, etc. My ancestor Jacklein Rohrbach was burned at the stake in 1525 because he wanted the German farmers to unite.
Diesel subsidies?? They are mad at something they got for free!?
They are mad because now they have to pay for goods that tax payers took care of before. Like a kid throwing a tantrum because you won't buy them sweets at the grocery store for once.
The subsidy for Diesel is scheduled to be cancelled.

All the best to German people. Thank you. You are the country who makes a difference in Europe.
I remember British cow farmers saga.
Are the protest organizers in Germany very shy and enigmatic, like in other parts of Europe?
To be fair, starving millions to death will greatly reduce Germany's climate impact 😎
On a serious note this is a negotiation.
Dutch farmers , now german farmers, french farmers still enjoy rebates though .

The problem is over consumtion.

In the long run we need to replace EU subsidies with a mandatory self insurance, so farmers can save themselves.
some time ago there were talks about hunger.... Someone is creating the situation for that... Guess, who it might be?
All they want is free money
Germany is funding Ukraine but not its farmers.

This protest is a opportunity to explore biodiesel and -gas as optional fuel for farms. After subsidised investments the fuel will be nearly free of cost to farmers..😌🚜 it will also help food security and sustainebility.
There is enough crop species and menure and waste to produce biobiesel and -gas for farms👍These are not solutions for bigger scale or substitute of electrification of transportation. Tractors are easily transformed to work with gas and biodiesel does not require modifications...
