The Fast Lane Car That steering wheel is ugly
Roman actually done a pretty good job in this one. I don't know if its cause he was working with Alex or just the mood he was in.But he was both entertaining and well behaved. It even seemed like he was actually being fair and Professional.Although I do wonder how it would do on Gold Mine hill.Still not a bad looking car and I enjoyed the review.
what colour this car is ??
Nice to see Roman & Alex collaboration...
Two of my favorite auto channel hosts in one video! Awesome!
Alex and Roman! Fantastic! Love Alex on Autos and ALL of the TFL channels! Good job guys!
I was sitting here hoping for a new review, low and behold. FRIDAY GOLD, good job fellas
Any car review featuring Alex (AoA) must be liked as a matter of principle
Interesting to see RUclips channels working together, even more so when it’s ones I check out. TFL, Mr. Truck, Alex on Autos, Everyman Driver & only a handful of others seem to actually drive these vehicles and give them a proper review. Too many outlets cut & paste manufacturers press release info straight from the “gift package” almost verbatim. Keep the actual information flowing, you’re doing an awesome job
Thanks for the kind words!
So nice to see two great reviewers together
My two favorite youtube auto journalists in 1 video! tfl is really fun and Alex is extremely informative
Two of my favorite reviewers with one of my favorite cars! Thanks guys!
Love the collaboration, I watch both of your channels religiously
assembled in west point, georgia (alabama line southwest of atlanta) with half american parts. that is a plus for me.
Alex is such a good presenter. Also subscribed over there. Been following you guys for a very long time. I remember Roman in 720p.
Always good to see Alex!!
My wife and I bought a used 2017 sorento with the v6. My wife sometimes spins the tires on it from a stop. The power of this engine is incredible. And we are getting over 30 mpg.
My wife's 2015 Sorento is a terrific SUV...with a 100,000 mile warranty. Can't be beat.
You and Alex killed it in this review!! Good job
I sat in one at the Chicago auto show, very comfortable. Keep doing these style of reviews with other U-Tuber, I like them.
Good to see you both. Big fan.
+1 for the collaboration. Love both channels.
Nice buddy review. Follower of alex and romans channels. Great job guys.
Very good review guys. I love both channels.
I'm getting me 1 of these vehicles 11/12/19 Tuesday. OMG 💯 excited.
you two guys work good together great review keep more coming Im interested in the sorento
Alex and Roman , The best combination! Keep it up guys!
My Suggestion : a better camera man would do wonders.
Big fan of you guys!!!!! Greetings from puerto vallarta mexico
I love the steel guitar at the beginning and the end of the video
You two are awesome together.. need more with you guys, I love it.. 😆
This vehicle looks good both inside and out, and it can do Hell's Gate.
Yes it can. But keep in in mind that Sorento had modifications to the tires and sway bars i believe. Not everyone is going to do that. However, it does show how competent the AWD locking differential is on this vehicle. Compared to other suv's in it's segment.
Oh and i also forgot to mention it only has 7.3in of ground clearance. So that Hells Gate test was pretty ballsy.
thank you dudes.. helpful. i'm trying to assist my parents with car purchase info, so i appreciate it!
Great combo video. Good job guys!
As others have noted, my two favorite reviewers together. I recently replaced a 2012 Sorento with the 2018 model (loaded SX-L AWD) for just under $40K. Looked thoroughly at alternatives and found only the Ford Edge Sport to be a close competitor. I loved the 2.7L twin scroll turbo in the Edge. But since the Sorento is primarily my wife's car and we have an occasional need for a 3rd row she cast the deciding vote. And since I drive a chipped GTI I have an alternative for my thrills.
We put 75K on the 2012 model with nary a problem. And we probably would have held onto it had it not been for the significant improvements in ride and features in the new generation. Have to say that one of the most impressive aspects of the KIA brand is the commitment to continual improvements even within a single model's generation. Furthermore, I think the excellent deal I was able to negotiate stemmed in part from the dealer's desire to clear inventory before the 2019 version made an appearance.
From what I can tell, the eight speed transmission and LED headlights are the single most significant changes in the 2019 refresh. Not without value but I have no complaints about the six speed transmission and KIA made major improvements in their headlights in 2018. (Resulted in a Top Safety Pick + from IIHS.)
Among the most significant features for us is the Sorento's size. It's a foot shorter than the Mazda CX-9 with more interior space, for example. I can park in the ubiquitous "compact only" spaces at the mall without guilt or risk of damage. And it drives like a car, not a bus. For a family of three (including a teenage daughter and frequent friends) and a large dog, the space is more than adequate.
I do find it amusing that so many reviewers, almost always male, make snide remarks about the Sorento resembling a minivan rather than a "true" SUV. I think that stems from two factors; the relatively rounded shape and the short hood compared to more "manly" vehicles. For the most part, however, I think curves rather than sharp edge designs age better. As for the short hood, that's a topic Freud would have a field day with. ;)
I've almost never replaced a vehicle with a later version of the same model but our experience with our first KIA Sorento and the numerous enhancements in the current generation convinced us to stick with it.
We also just bought a 2018 Sorento SX with the Touring/Tech package.
We drove the CX-9, but it lacked the headroom and, especially, the 3rd row leg room that the Sorento has. So far, we're averaging at the top of its EPA rating at roughly 24.5, though the onboard computer shows that it's getting around 27.5 (this must be a Hyundai Group issue, as our previous 2012 Sonata hybrid also overestimated the MPG by about 3). This is with the ECO setting.
Stephen Hendricks Kia Sorentos are great Suvs and I couldn't agree with you more about That! My mom had a 2014 base model and for a base it had pretty much all anyone could need in a new car without overpriced luxury options you'd pay for with other makes and models out there. The 4cyl GDI wasn't bad on gas either. Unfortunately her lease expired and the Kia dealer wasn't having any deals so she traded it for a brand new 2018 Ford Escape SE in silver too. I liked the Kia and miss it, but I also love the new escape it's also good on gas with the 1.5 ecoboost turboed engine. And honestly handles better than the Soreno in snow. But id gladly recommend either SUV both good buys
Stephen Hendricks fy
dang just under 40k for fully loaded sounds like a good deal.
I think the comments about it looking like a minivan. Also stem from people comparing it to the Sedona minivan. They both have extremely similar front end designs.
Didn't really care about the car, but nice to see you guys doing it together.
The saddle over black is VERY classy! I love my MDX, but I would definitely consider this. Only regrets is that while I'm just at 20 MPG for the life of my MDX ( and that V6 is *sweet*), I suspect this V6 will be more in the 17 MPG range.
Even the Tahoe, Expedition, and Suburban don’t give you real leather on the 3rd row, on any trim level. So that is great that Kia gives you that.
This vehicle is Kia's best offering! Lots of bang for the buck!
Indeed! As a "tweener" three-row (as Consumer Reports called it), it's great for someone who needs the cargo space but normally doesn't carry more than two passengers. I like that it's rated to tow 5,000 pounds, like the Jeep Cherokee but with more cargo space and comparable MPG (and without the controversial ZF 9-speed transmission).
Both redline and tfl released a video on this car the same day😊
*You guys together are great! More of that!! Ps i looove my 2016 sorento*
I have this vehicle it’s awesome!!!! The video is so helpful 😊
TFL & Alex? I'll take it! Great video, guys! Those headlights look really cheesy, but overall the Sorento continues to be a great vehicle. Steering wheel sorta reminds me of a last generation Audi or Mercedes wheel, (thats a good thing) the interior just seems fantastic.
Great seeing two of my favorite RUclips automotive reviewers working together. With a 500 Lb load aboard that V6 could only pull a 9.4, so IMHO any family opting for the NA 4 cylinder in the Sorento would be a mistake.
blitzbbffl They are above sea level. So the Sorento wouldn’t be good in THAT area if you’re looking for a family crossover with speed. If you’re not above sea level, this is a competitive vehicle. Every car’s performance is affected by the level of altitude.
In Denver, Colorado, which is a mile high, the amount of oxygen is reduces 17% as compared to the sea level. Because horsepower of the ICE loss increases as it goes higher due to the lack of oxygen, Coloradan prefer cars with turbo charged engine.
Friend bought a V6 Sorento, and he said it's by far the best SUV he has bought.
Mind you, he is a car collector. (Has a 2016 Charger Hellcat, 2019 Dodge RAM Rebel, just got the Kia 2019 Sorento). He had a 2016 Durango GT (3.6v6 AWD), 2014 Ford Explorer V6 Ecoboost, 2013 Chevy Traverse V6 AWD), and a few other SUV's, which is saying a LOT. Since he is a American car buyer. (Sorento in the US is made in Georgia)
I think they would have got FAR FAR better 0-60mph times on level ground. Most vehicles either turbo 4's or V6's would struggle at higher altitude levels. I would wager this truck can hit 0-60mph on flat ground in 7-7.5 seconds easily. It's a VERY potent engine for this size vehicle.
I really like this crossover. The Kia's decent too.
I'll see myself out.
Oooommmggg cool, a collaboration!!
Nice to see Alex with you.....Great dual review.....Would you compare this to the new 2019 Subaru Ascent?
I like this. Need more.
Nice duo car reveiw guys
alex is legit
for the price of the vehicle, it is well worth it...you get the space comfort and I think a industry leading warranty...
my sorrento goes untouched on the road..canadian ice..winter..summer..me and my family are eatn it up and so safe with total efficiant use and my v6 gets 60 in 6.8 seconds..big difference because of the level being tested
nice to c u both together
Great video, two of the best reviewers.
It was cool seeing you and Alex together.together. me and my wife watched this over pancakes lol. One of my go to people when watching info on cars. Alex come on how can u compare this to my MDX lol but overall fun watching you to. Next time get Dave as well
lol Alex on The Fast Lane Car. awesome!
Alex is great
Thanks Roman, I subscribed more than 600,000 ago because of the high altitude...Alex is really funny, i think we need a twice a year...im sorry, i mean we WILL be having a twice a year collaboration where you go to each others places and film so next Roman will be visiting Alex, wherever he lives ten feet above sea level...Alex, i subbed and thank you in advance for hosting Roman in september
I like the shape of the rear window. From the inside, it looks like you're on a spaceship.
Alex is the best. Shame we in Australia only have black interior colours. No choice. But we do get the 2.2 litre Diesel engine choice.
It's like watching a DC-Marvel crossover seeing these two guys together.
My two favorite!!!!
"Hey guys, welcome to Colorado"... (Near Montrose - California) Hmm, something is not right... 🤔🤔🤔
Love the traverse high country it's luxurious and bigger
Did it catch on fire yet?
Good morning!.
This is an awesome review, and I’m just saying that 2019 Sorento, still reminds me of the Audi Q5, but I wonder if the German designer is still working for Kia/Hyundai?
Does Kias last a long time? I know they have 100k warranty but do they last to 200k?
290 hp👍
Hi my friends!! can u do the test at sea level this KIA is fast!!!! cheers fron ARGENTINA!!!
They need to add a third one, maybe Curly for starters!
Test drove one not long ago and my first comment to the wife was that it didn't feel like almost 300 hp as opposed to my v8 VW Touareg which runs much faster with just a little over 300
You need that to go every month at shop good luck
Great buddy review.
I love the Kia/Hyundai hard button layout. It’s so simple.
Is it as quiet and comfortable as the Lexus RX? seriously considering this as an RX replacement.
I like my Sorento but I'll never buy another new Kia product. All of the speculations about how they would retain value is BS. They're practically giving the Sorento away with the 7k to 10k in rebates so those of us with 2016 models are stuck. Get what you want don't settle because what you gain in savings you'll lose in value. Lexus RX350L is a much better choice imho
You paid less upfront for the sorento though. You get the sorento $7-8k off sticker but a Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot you’re lucky to get $2-4K off. The extra resale value the Toyota/Honda has is offset by paying more for it upfront.
@@christophercarter129 never thought of it like that. good point
And kia is cheaper to maintain and has much longer warranty.
And kia is cheaper at similar spec.
Kia soul is the leader in resale value in its class. Competition is pooping in its pants. Kia has style, reliability, performance, and value. Only thing keeping kia from burying it's competition is public recognition of these attributes, and steady rise in resale value is showing the competition will be going into grave soon.
I'm wondering if the 2019 Sorento comes as a 6-seater, that way it will be easier access to 3rd row.
AndreH...There's no market that has a 6 seat Sorento. I guess it's because the car is simply not that big. So they keep the bench in all models.
Hate to break it to you Alex but third row room is not as big as a highlander or pilot. We traded a sorento in for a highlander and the highlander definitely has more third rom room and more room behind the third row. The pilot has even more than the highlander. I do like the sorento but the highlander defiantly is bigger inside and out.
Is there an option for a second muffler/exhaust pipe? That single exhaust makes it look like it has one ball. 😕
In Korea, they offer a factory option dual exhaust. Looks cool, and sounds a bit better.
Looks cheap and stupid.
So the Sorento gets a v6 and the new Santa fe is still stuck with 4 cylinders option only?
The diesel option for the new Santa Fe is AWESOME! All that torque goes so well with the new 8 speed.
Sorento is considered a crossover? For sure thought it was an SUV
Great to see you guys together. How about partnering with Engineering Explained and Doug DeMuro too?
why dose honda pilot with similar hoursepower (280hp) can don 0-60 in 6.5s, while this one is 9s?
Wait... Alex isn't in 4k?
Wonder why car manufacturers use those piano black plastics... they’re fingerprint magnets, prone to scratches and dust are more visible on them.
Looking for a 2017. Found great price...
I cannot see why this is the 2019 car because looking at what your driving to what's on sale in the UK the only difference are chrome around the front fog/ driving lights and we get 2.2 diesel and not petrol models apart from that there no change to what we drive now 8 speed box has been around for over a year the interior is the same . So what makes this a new 2019 car ?
I suppose it's new to the U.S. I'm glad I did not buy a 2018 because I wanted at least an 8 speed tranny and now it's gotten one. I guess that it's good that the 8 speed was introduced in the EU first. That way they could test it for any problems before using it in their biggest market.
This is actually a nice looking car. I wouldn't care too much about 0-60. Even 9-10 seconds at over a mile above isn't worth fretting. I mean, it's an SUV.
dchawk81 it’s faster than that...two guys in the car and at high elevation kill the acceleration, and same would happen with any of the competitors.
MOTILAC It's a people hauler so you can't make excuses because it has people in it. Already conceded elevation.
Point is it doesn't matter.
dchawk81 point is, this is not one of the slower SUV's (like the Mazda CX-9, or VW Atlas). This off the cuff 0-60 iPhone test was for fun and no way close to an actual standard performance test. This made the Sorento unfairly look bad.
Love it
Intro: "Welcome to Colorado". Text: Near Montrose, California....... meh, close enough.
I thought Hyundai was making Kia the value brand, and Genesis the expensive but it seems like Kia is getting more luxurious than Hyundai.
Clarence...Kia is not the value brand of Hyundai. They are trying to be "cooler" than their Hyundai counterparts. That's why they usually use more aggressive styling and sportier tuning of their cars. That's the goal that Peter S. seems to have achieved with Kia. Did a great job too!
Was the transmission in SPORT mode?
what happened to the 2.2 CRDi
You guys are always in Colorado, why not try other states ie North Carolina for a change
I was hoping for a more powerful I4 turbo, dang : (
When I graduate high school planning to trade in my 2015 Optima SX-L for the Sorento SX
Lavonte A highschoolers got cars? Weird
Why? You planning to have lots of kids?
It looks, feels and drives much better than highlander....
Any news about turbodiesel?
Just change the Kia name, they'll get more sales
not a bad idea for the Lakers!!
I thought that looked like Alex in the thumbnail...lol...
The caption says California but you said Colorado !
Alex!!!
Do a video where Alex drives Roman out to the California desert and leaves him for dead. 👍🏻
I thought Alex doesnt like bromances?
The small V6 lacks low end torque.
