    Given these broad guidelines, each of us has our unique nutritional needs that our spirits or our higher selves now. If we get present and clear the negative or habitual thoughts and blend more with Spirit or our higher selves, we will always be drawn to consume the right things in the right quantities. And over the course of a lifetime nutritional needs change and attractions to certain foods will change for those who are open and aware and listening to their Spirit’s wisdom

      @@MidnightMag yes true, but I believe the point is that we are spirit having human experiences and if we trash the vehicle, it’s going to bog down our spiritual growth while we are here on earth anyways. From that understanding of taking care of the physical vehicle we can learn to transcend that through various techniques, many available through yoga training, and there are some spiritual masters, who do not need food as they have evolved in their human bodies to gather all nutrition from air and spirit

      Way better a steamed potato than any fried food. I would argue packaged foods and foods fried in oil are maybe more tamasic than a raw or steamed potato.

  • @KnzoVortex
    @KnzoVortex 10 месяцев назад +14

    While all this information is true and good, there should be noted one important exception to #1: Sweet potato. Sweet potato is highly revered in Ayurveda both as being satvic (roughly meaning increasing quality of peace and clarity) and tridoshic or balancing all the doshas, or simpler all the elements. Please continue to consume this as it is actually exceptionally great food as per Ayurveda. Also, always take things one step at a time. Any fried or packaged food is going to be way way more tamasic than cooked food older than 1.5 hours or a steamed potato which is still pretty healthy for the physical body.
    Edit: In terms of satvic root vegetables, the full list is actually carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, and turnips.

    • @KnzoVortex
      @KnzoVortex 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@sandrag3637 I think his comment might have been mostly on heavy tubers like potatos and yams and stuff like that. I at least highly doubt he would be talking about roots which are spices like turmeric and ginger, as he praises both elsewhere. Actually for the sake of completeness, as far as I can tell, all root vegs are tamasic except carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, and turnips, as they are a bit lighter than the rest, so these are all good.

    • @WormholeJim
      @WormholeJim 10 месяцев назад +2

      Since I stopped eating meat years ago, I have been relying on dairy products for getting enough proteins. I sort of live on a stable menu of chocolate-milk, cheese and honey on lots of grain bread and cheese-stuffed sandwiches or cheese and tomato-laden pizza. I also really like my potato crisps, I have to say. Although I already knew about potatoes being zero prana food and making me lazy - lethargic. So I've cut down on those drastically but also *really* kind of like them every now and then.
      The cheese and the milk....This Sadhguru is one tough cookie to live up to, I've got to say. Although, I have a hunch that taking on a residential program would automatically set one straight with the right diet. Then it's just knowing what the ingredients are and how to use them once the program ends and you're set for a yogic daily menu in your own environment.

So storage of energy is a challenge and we have lived with these for many thousands of years. Fermented dairy (cheese), and vegetables (pickled) and preserved meats are part of us. But I do take your point about "in these times". But is this not the Kali Yuga?

    I get the impression that the content of the video and the message of the Sadhguru are two completely different topics, because how do the words "you must avoid" relate to "eat consciously" or "if you eat too much of this...". In my understanding, Sadhguru's message is about building a conscious relationship with different types of food. Sadhguru doesn't tell you what to do, but he shows you healthy ways for your system that you can chose and it's up to you what you will do.

    As someone who can't go a single day without meat (except when fasting, where I eat Nothing at all), No.3 is a Critical Hit for me 😅🍖🍗🥩

    • @RaindanceEXPERIMENTS
      @RaindanceEXPERIMENTS 10 месяцев назад

      if you can go a day of fasting you can go a day without meat, you're stronger then that. mind over matter my friend, its better for you and everyone else on this planet that you quit this bad habit, it's actually worse then any drug addiction to be addicted to some innocent creatures tortured rotting corpse. it makes no sense that people consider this a health product. heart disease is the biggest killer of humans on this planet.

      @@RaindanceEXPERIMENTS Fasting is easier because I conditioned my mind so that I don't even think about eating at all. But when food start to enter my system, if I don't eat meat for a day, my energy level will go down significantly 😅
      That's why I choose total fasting and not eating at all over avoiding the meat or be a vegan 🙏

    Ok Sadhguru sir ! But tell me without meat and no dairy food how can we get vitamin B12? It’s very important for your mental health and neurons. Suggest any food. I don’t find any other alternatives as it is recommended by WHO to take at least 2.4 mcg of b12 in a day . There’s no other source left according to modern science. In India we can avoid meat but if we eliminate milk then how to get this b12? Mostly in India people have low b12 levels.

    I’m a bit surprised when he said potatoes.
    We seen him eat fries, he made potato dishes in the episode with Gordon Ramsay
    I get some of the reason for why though

      Yes, we have even heard him saying listening to all this one should not become food fanatic rather eat by choice. Food should be choosen according to the level of activity one has to perform that day. If it's a chill day where you just wanna rest and very less activity required what's the harm in eating potatoes, on the other hand if you wanna run a marathon you may need fruits which gets digested quick and boost up your energy levels causing least friction in the body's machanism. 🙏♥️
