I'm new to all of this and just found out I am an ISTP. And yes, I am a motorcycle mechanic. ;)

That's awesome Jon. May I ask how did you find out you were an ISTP?

The example at the end was extremely easy to understand. Thanks! I have a better understanding of the difference now.

I'm an INTP with an ISFP mother and wife, an INFJ daughter who's mother is an INFJ (as well as my grandmother was an INFJ), with another INFJ daughter, another INFP daughter, at least 2 ISTP uncles, an ISFP son (but didn't take test seriously) and an ISTP youngest son. It's weird how the ISTP are exactly like me emotionally, but the INFP daughter is exactly like me in thought processing. ISTPs have Ti hero and Fe inferior like INTPs, while INFPs have Ne parent, then Si child like INTPs. ISFP females like both my mom and my wife will often wear loud colored shirts with patterns, are generally cool to be around in unstressful, chilling situations, but an absolute illogical nightmare in a disagreement. INTPs operate like ISFPs in demon mode and they work like INTPs in their demon mode - so we're dumbasses when destructive and they're geniuses when turning destructive. INFJs are like feminine-minded INTPs, while INTPs are like masculine-minded INFJs (in the classical, not sexual sense)... INTPs are the real ancient wizards, while INFJs weren't the wizards, they were the oracles.

Completely agree on all accounts! INFJs are my favorite type, FYI.

Interesting. I think I am an ISTP, I can be very intuitive and intellectual but comparing myself to my strange INTP colleague who dissects snails to get better at dissections, I myself get better just by doing it. Not overthinking it or something, just outright doing it. The more I overthink the less I do and the worse I feel. I like academia in science just as much as practice while my INTP colleague has a tremendous amount of knowledge, but I always criticize him in front of him or colleagues, that having knowledge that you can't also practice is bad in medicine. I think what we have in common is hyperactivity, the capability to have a big amount of knowledge in our internal database and daydreaming. Weirdly enough he is much more of a party animal than me.

To me the cognitive stack of the ISTP looks formidable - you get Ti, Se and Ni in a row like that? Completely unfair!

@@TheGenxennial Good phrase! I only have the uninformed kind, which I subsequently pretend makes sense (INTJ).

What's with the ISTP and hiding others' things? An ISTP l knew could curl up in a ball in a speaker case and rock a power nap. So yeah, them with a piece of cardboard and bucket making life happen with just that? I agree.

It's funny you mentioned that. The istp that I know the best used to love to play practical jokes on people at the office. It's always something that was really funny, though.
