Paul says he sent Yoko to John and that John gave her a manuscript for the song "The Word". Now, there IS a book called "NOTATIONS" by John Cage and it DOES contain the Beatle song "The Word". So Paul's version is the truthful one. Yoko had her sights set on a Beatle, knew who they were, approached Paul first, who sent her away to John. Julian took yoko to court and she did sell his stuff at auction of which he had to buy himself. Somewhere I watched a video of Paul talking about buying some of John’s stuff for Julian.

Their marriage fell apart, but they remained together for their child. After Yoko met John, her husband disappeared with their daughter. In 1971, Yoko tried to gain custody of the daughter but lost because she was declared unfit because of her drug abuse.
Yes and her husband was abusive and abducted the child. What now? I'm sad for Julian but those blaming Yoko should blame John instead. These dumb racist misogynistic Beatles fans cannot help themselves.
No. Yoko Ono is the one inspired his songwriting. She is an Artist and creates her shows many times before she met him. So, stop the hateful attitude toward her when you don't even know her.
Yoko Ono made Jullien buy from her what is rightfully his to begin with. Even the post cards his dad sent to him. That is enough to know to be able to make an opinion about her. It's really pathetic to do someone like that. However, yes she was the inspiration of his songs. Still doesn't change what she did to Jullian

I was 13. I loved the Beatles. I discovered them when I was 11 at the house of a couple who were friends with my parents. I borrowed the Magical Mystery Tour album from them and that's all I played for the next month. When Lennon died I was very sad. Then Reagan was shot, and for some reason the two events seemed to me to be connected in some way. I don't know why it felt like that. I have no idea why.
I dislike Yoko but she really didn’t have anything to do with the murder. Mark Chapman shot him because he said that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus
According to John’s sister Julia John saw Yoko as exotic exciting and also had been a traumatic childhood like him. unfortunately Cynthia and Julian were collateral damage. I think John always knew Julian was going to resent him but can’t stop someone from having to learn the hard way
This just makes me dislike her even more. She's essentially blamed John for his own murder. It was not his fault. I also think that it is arrogant for her to think that she needs to "carry on the Lennon Legend." It is being carried on quite nicely, and doesn't require her assistance.
I don’t always agree with yoko but that’s a great observation. I always felt like he wasn’t the most kind member of the Beatles but he was definitely the most brutally honest. And I really respect him for that. She clearly understood him.
John said and SHOWED many times that he loved her and I'm convinced that she loved him. You cannot 'nutshell' or 'pigeon-hole' people. That's an intellectual cop-out that does not and should not stand. That's how government operates, and we all know how much we love the government. You cannot know the whole story, as I certainly don't. You might have more faith in the power of love. Should his wife and confessed soulmate NOT be able to control his legacy. If not her, then who? IN the end, I still believe that love is all there is. I choose not to hate Yoko or anyone for that matter. At least I'm trying not to.
As John's wife, now widow, Yoko has every right and reason to control his legacy. And as far as his estate goes, that also should first go to his widow Yoko and Sean, and something (should've gone) for Julian. How Yoko deals with it all is another matter and of course it's hoped she'd be fair about it. But, that's who he married, so, it is what it is.
Coco1992 Bonet, slow your roll. Someone was giving criticism that isn’t unwarranted, no one brought race into this until you, you’re the one being the racist.
PTSD. AND HER CULTURE. You don't need tears to grieve .She had to witness her soulmates murder. It is in her voice even 40 yrs later i feel it. She still lives in the Dakota when she can live anywhere because of John and his memory. I love her for bringing john love and joy and music inspiration. Yoko is a special beautiful woman.
Forty four years later and every time I hear this, I hold back tears, most of the time, I can't hold them back. Im sixty one and old school Italian gangster, so to speak, and I am not ashamed to say, that I have emotions, so maybe I am not an old school gangster, because I have morals.
I can't stand Yoko, but people in here saying she had him killed is ridiculous. What did the murderer get from this? Assuming she paid him. You can't spend money from a jail cell. He must've known that to kill such a famous person that he was probably never gonna get out. 4 decades later, aged 65, with still no hope of release, and he hasn't squealed? He would've 100% said that he was hired by now, if that's what had happened. People need to use common sense, if they have it.
It makes me think. In every photo you ever see of yoko and John she’s clinging to him or they’re very close together. It makes me question why she was so far ahead of him when he died.
John specified in his will, he wanted to be buried in a casket, Yoko had him cremated. She contributed to johns divorce With Cynthia . She had the nerve to tell Paul McCartney how to write one of his songs!
Sean actually has a few good songs and songwriting skills. I personally like The Claypool Lennon Delirium. You should check it out if you haven't, songs like Blood and Rockets.
Sean isn't that bad of a singer. He's great in his own way, but he is better than Yoko. If people stopped comparing Julian, Sean, and John then we wouldn't be so mean to Sean about his music just because his mom is Yoko.
It’s called live and learn. First son was during the peak of BeatleMania. John wasn’t gonna be there anyway. He learned and retired from music to raise his second son. Evolution
John would always sign items for fans hanging around the Dakota and was known to be gracious about it. John's leaving us still seems so pointless and mystifying all these years later but a legacy of John Lennon's is that overall he was good to the fans and never forgot his roots. He was an activist in his day and I wonder how acidic his comments would be towards the TMZ crowd and Kardashians and intrusive social media.
I remember how incredibly important music was when I was a teenager. After Lennon died, music seemed to lose its relevance. I still love music but it doesn't have the importance that it once held. For me, John's absence removed so much meaning and context in pop music.
I don't clearly remember the Andy Warhol era but from what I've read about, what I've read about that time, it seems music and all artistic expressions took a downward turn after Andy's passing. Not at all taking away from the significance of John's contribution because he was on his way toward changing the world...that was something he and Yoko worked on and spoke publicly about often... I just feel that when Warhol passed, (I heard what happened, just don't feel like repeating it...) really everything changed. Your thoughts?
Maybe it is just that the last remains of the hippie era ended and the neoliberal era began. Everybody tends to overrate music culture's importance during their teen years. Boomers especially grew up in what seemed to be simpler times and probably fell harder for the lies of the culture and counter culture industry.
I think it's disappointing that John Lennon or Yoko Ono - whomever was responsible for it - didn't give Julian Lennon enough money. No where near enough. He was the first son. Julian Lennon should also have been GIVEN all of what Yoko Ono put up for auction of John's. I'm not impressed. That was just apathetic of Yoko. Very unfeeling and uncaring.
If you read Frederic Seaman’s book ‘the last days of John Lennon’ One of the families bodyguards repeatedly said to Yoko that they need better protection. Yoko dismissed him.
The fact that John got murdered just years after he met Yoko Ono makes me sick. John would've been alive today if he never met Yoko, she brainwashed him, and she was probably the reason why the Beatles broke up in the first place. I know John called off and the Beatles split up, but I bet my life that Yoko made John do that decision. It just breaks my heart that my second favourite Beatle died because of this woman, he would've been alive today if she and John never met.
That is the point, the crewmate murders his captain (the popular one) to get rid of him, so he gets chances of becoming that captain, but leaves the hated ones, because nobody cares about them.
Well a guy that was their right hand man in the apartment for 1/2 year before John died said Yoko got rid of the body guard several days before John was shot... he talks about what a manipulator she was . Listen on RUclips to the May Pang interviews.... she was John's girlfriend and he lived with her for about 18 months... I think 15 of them were in Los Angeles . I believe her when she tells the weird story of Yoko calling 15 times a day at least and insisting John come back to NYC immediately to meet this hypnotherapist who she claimed would help him quit smoking . May says she had the worst feeling in her gut and begged John not to go . She said John promised her he would fly back to LA early enough that they could have dinner that night with friends. He didn't come back until 3 days later and she said he was acting strangely . She said John also told her Yoko gave him a weird cup of tea that made him throw up... it probably had a drug in it like devil's breath is my guess . People say he did those hypnotherapy sessions off and on for years thanks to Yoko and I'll bet you that included the drugged tea.... that is why the years he was with her he often had a blank look on his face and was not quite himself . People said out in LA he was more himself then he had been in years. They call his time out in LA the Lost weekend . Someone said Yoko was flying down to the Caribbean to pick up special herbs and teas... that is one of the places devil's breath comes from

It wasn't honesty that drove Chapman to kill Lennon. If I remember right he said that John was a hypocrite and that helped him to go ahead and kill Lennon. Sad situation no matter what.
Before knowing Yoko helped produce the new John Lennon Netflix Documentary..I knew she had to have been behind it because it's really about her. She was an unknown artist who wanted to be in the light. John paid a high price being with Yoko. I think she will have to answer to God in the end.
John Lennon said, "Love is the answer." He also said, "No, thanks, every hot woman, I'll take this woman crawling out of the well from The Ring who none of my friends like."
Let's not forget John left his wife and son for HER and had a son, with her. John was a bit of a dog for doing that, not to mention cheating left right and centre. Nobody Hates on him, because unlike Yoko, he could carry a tune ✌🏽
A friend of Lennon's once poked fun at him for being a millionaire and writing the line, "Imagine no possessions". Lennon shrugged his shoulders and said, "It's just a song". He was an entertainer, he wasn't a cross between Jesus and Socrates. He once hospitalised a guy for making a jibe about him and Brian Epstein being lovers - he could be one nasty piece of work. Yeah he wrote some great songs, he also wrote a few duds like all song writers do. He died because he was one of the most famous people on the planet and thought he could come and go like an ordinary person. Anyone that famous who wandered around the streets of New York would take a bullet eventually.
Your correct. I'm from Liverpool my dad knew John and Paul in the early days they would go to Liverpool docks and beat up drunken sailors and steal their money . Very sad but true it's also be hinted that John was responsible for the bass player Sutcliffe dying of a brain tumor . John had beaten him severally a few months earlier and since the beating he constantly complained of headaches . So ye your right he was certainly handy with his fists

John was no angel in his younger years, but he was by far the coolest and most talented of the Beatles, and he did become a much more thoughtful and conscious man later on. Yoko has always been an eccentric artist, and these kinds of people often have a dark side. Stupid Mark David Chapman went and ruined everything. We'll never know...

It wasn't his honesty that got him murdered. Lennon was a stellar example of the limousine Liberal. I loved The Beatles and Lennon's contributions to music up until his musical uniqueness had fizzled out, which was about the time of Abbey Road/The Beatles (White Album). Double fantasy was an uninspired gimmick with a couple of passable songs and incidentally was exactly what he had accused Paul of doing when he criticized him for writing those "silly love songs."
Even though I do agree with you about yoko being not so good for the Beatles but John did love yoko and yoko to John. She still inspired some of his greatest songs but again I do agree that in some cases was not good
To be fair we don't really know her - none of us. I'm willing to be bet for all the millions she's amassed over the years. She'd give it all away just to have him back with her now. I agree with the comments about Yoko, I mean, let's be honest, your worth eight hundred million and you have held back giving Julian his fair share of the estate? If I had one million, I would invest most of it and keep just enough in accessible accounts for living expenses and in case my eighty two year old mom needed something immediately. How greedy can people be? According to John’s sister Julia John saw Yoko as exotic exciting and also had been a traumatic childhood like him. unfortunately Cynthia and Julian were collateral damage. I think John always knew Julian was going to resent him but can’t stop someone from having to learn the hard way

This just makes me dislike her even more. She's essentially blamed John for his own murder. It was not his fault. I also think that it is arrogant for her to think that she needs to "carry on the Lennon Legend." It is being carried on quite nicely, and doesn't require her assistance.

He lied all the time, even he said so “ google “ he said his so called honesty change day by day, even hour by hour.
A manipulative and immensely selfish woman who seems to be on a lifelong power trip trying to control the legacy of John.
She was his Wife she should have controlled/ took over his legacy. Who do you think should have taken it over.. Racist pig
In John's words, "Imagine the world living as One."
I hate the fact that when the other beatles were talking about when John died, they cried. Then theres Yoko Ono. Whose eyes dont even water.
There actually have been many instances in which we see her cry for him. Just not here. That’s also a very bizarre thing to say.

When you read about the things she’s done....she’s a horrible woman.

Sean isn't that bad of a singer. He's great in his own way, but he is better than Yoko. If people stopped comparing Julian, Sean, and John then we wouldn't be so mean to Sean about his music just because his mom is Yoko.
Why compare his children at all.? Where is your music?
Sean looks like both of his parents. Sad he lost his father at 5 years old.

Makes me wonder how Joplin would react to those things you mentioned.
John should’ve stayed with May Pang, not this witch.

I bet if he was alive today he would write even more songs about peace and love due to how life is today

Trouble with John Lennon is that he didn't have any bodyguards. Had there been just one of them, the night that he died, he may have survived.
What really may have led to his murder is she dismissing the 3 bodyguards few months before the day of the assassination.
If you read Frederic Seaman’s book ‘the last days of John Lennon’ One of the families bodyguards repeatedly said to Yoko that they need better protection. Yoko dismissed him.
John Lennon told the truth. He didn't spare a person's feelings.
The world will always remember
John!

I don't think he was right for what he did to Cynthia, but I think Yoko was involved in his death.
