Sovereign countries have the entire freedom to govern themselves and make decisions about joining or leaving NATO. Russia is not the owner of Ukraine nor do they control NATO. Let free nations be free. Also, Russia was the first one to violate treaty agreements with Ukraine to begin with. The second Russia broke the treaty to not invade or annex Ukrainian territory then the treaty is no longer valid, so Ukraine is free to join NATO and build its defences. Every country is entitled to defend itself. No country had the right to offence and step into foreign territories without declaring war. Russia didn’t even want to recognize it was a war (“special operation”) like the coward Putin is.

Ukraine wants to be in NATO because they're scared Russia will invade them. NATO has strict requirements for joining, and many countries had to wait for Yeats to join. If Russia stops invading its neighbours, countries wouldn't need to join NATO.
Nobody threatened to put Ukraine in NATO, Ukraine wanted to join NATO for years but because Russia didnt want to they invaded crimea in 2014, because a country at war cant join NATO, its against the rules and he always wanted crimea and better access to the black sea.
