I love this brand and use something each day. The urea lotion is my favorite! Love the gleanser for my dry aging skin and my son, who is autistic and has big sensory issues where hygiene is hard for him and is now a young teen with acne, I am now doing his skincare for him each day. He gets a facial from mom each night to help him care for his skin. I never had acne but I am a skincare junkie and in the process of learning skincare for me, I have absorbed a lot of acne prone skincare tips. I am having fun getting to work on his skin as a project and do it right so I don't burn his face off but clear the skin. He enjoys his nightly facials with mom and appreciates the improvements in the acne which doesn't just not look great but hurts! My poor boy. He has braces currently and falling into the same self care issues is his teeth which he struggles to clean well enough. So I brush his teeth in the evening too and we talk about how to clean himself correctly and adequately. It is my job to teach him HOW to care for his body, especially as puberty takes hold and you can no longer rest on poor habits without bigger consequences and to step in to help if needed for his health. I am excited to use this on him and even use for myself and my husband. Another exciting not exciting release from the brand! The basics done well and affordably IS exciting.
This is SO sweet and precious! I love that you get to spend intentional time teaching and helping him take care of himself! You are doing so well and I hope that you are able to find products that help his acne!
Dr. Ellis.. Super excited for this! And pls pls create a prequel product for hyperpigmentation ❤️ absolutely love the lucent c. It’s the only one ascorbic acid based vitamin c my neck could tolerate! Thank you for making skincare affordable!
Wow! I already love the Gleanser, but this new Gleanser with SA sounds like a dream for my oily, acne prone, and dehydrated skin. I love that it only has 1% SA too. That seems like an actual safe amount to use daily.
Yessssss, I love my Prequel products especially the Gleanser, I can’t believe that I’m excited about a face cleanser, anyway I’m headed over to the site to pick up my Gleanser + SA
I noticed you didn’t mention acne or managing breakouts during this product’s description. That totally makes sense given the red tape the FDA has put around Acne related claims on products but I’m curious if this gleanser+SA has a high enough SA concentration to help those of us who break out? I struggle with hormonal cystic acne, already love Gleanser, and am curious if making the switch makes sense for my routine which already contains actives. Thank you! Much love and appreciation for your work here of free public education and also providing super high quality skincare products at attainable prices 🙏🏻 you’re the best!
But This cleanser shouldn’t be the ONLY product you use for your acne. A use of Tretinion / retinaldehyde / glycolic acid/ Benzoyl Peroxide / Sulfur / Azelaic Acid. All work much better if used in a routine. As opposed to just one or two product
I can’t wait until Prequel releases some gentle exfoliators. I’m looking for a gentle exfoliating product with ingredients like PHA and Mandelic Acid, since I have very sensitive skin. Maybe BHA might be okay too to unclog pores and get that glass skin effect, but I’ve always been concerned about BHA because I worry about it drying out my skin. Many skincare products just leave my skin dried out for days, so I worry about ingredients that could have an irritating and drying effect. If I use a product, at the very least I want it to leave my skin with the same amount of hydration than I had prior to using it. I don’t want to be forced to use a moisturizer, just because another product dried out my skin. So, I really hope Dr. Ellis will crack the code on how to develop a gentle exfoliator that’s suitable for super sensitive skin types and that won’t in any way dry out the skin. Ideally, it would provide hydration, but if that’s too much to ask for, at least it shouldn’t dry out the skin in the slightest degree.
On second thought, the BHA concerns me, because even if it is the slightest bit drying, my skin will not like it. I think maybe the other exfoliants like PHA and Mandelic Acid will help in unclogging pores, so the BHA may not even be needed. For this reason, it might be better to skip the BHA in an exfoliant. Personally, I don’t really have much of a problem with clogged pores. My skin is mostly smooth, except I can feel some minimal sebaceous filaments on the t-zone area. It would be nice to clear them out fully to get that ‘glass skin’ effect. Maybe some gentle exfoliants might help with that, since it seems like my skin only needs a slight nudge to get rid of any minor sebaceous filaments that are there (plus I have very sensitive skin). I just want to use something that’s good for my skin and won’t cause any irritation or dryness. As much as I may want to completely clear out the pores to get ‘glass skin’, the thing that comes first is my skin’s health. So, I’d only use a product if it can clear my pores without causing any issues with my skin, such as irritation, dryness or any other types of problems.
I just moved from a humid climate to a dry and was literally just talking about updating my tried and true skincare routine using my holy grail ingredients, SA being one of them, but in more hydrating projects….i CANNOT wait to try this.
Please bring all your products to Australia as soon as you can . I don’t even use Salicylic acid but I’m still excited to see this! And it sounds amazing!! 🫣😅
I can't wait to try it! I just started my first bottle of Gleanser, and love it. I have been using a 1% salicylic acid lotion, and hope this product might help me eliminate that step from my routine.
I wish I had this when I was a teenager. My skin was so dry all the time from salicylic acid. I like that brands now are more aware of dryness, irritation, etc.
I am going to try this when it's at Target. I recently bought the L'Oreal cleanser with lactic acid based on the Budget Dermatologist's recommendation, and I like it but it's very minty fresh, maybe a bit too much. I like that yours is in a pump rather than a flip top. I just bought your Vitamin C serum and I like it better than others I have tried (Timeless, CeraVe) although I wish the pump would squirt out less because it's way too much for my face and neck. I try to do a tiny pump but am not always successful in getting the amount I want. Right now my products are all different brands but if I'm as happy with other items as the Vitamin C, I'll convert over to you exclusively because I want to support you and also matching bottles look pretty. I'm assuming you are working away on a retinol!
Whenever I use the Cetaphil SA cleanser I always leave it 1-2 min before rinsing. Makes a huge difference and the formula is very hydrating so I am not left tight and dry. But PLEASE!!! Make your brand available in Canada too.
I have extremely dry skin ( 68 with Sjogren's) is this a good cleanser for dry sensitive skin ? I am in need of a new cleanser Found you last month and subscribed- learning from your videos TY❤
Dr. Ellis, are there any cleansing products you would recommend when someone has very sensitive skin to the point where their skin won’t even accept a cleanser & moisturizer? In a previous video, you recommended that people with highly sensitive skin should stick to the basics, which include just a cleanser & moisturizer. However, my skin is very sensitive, and it doesn’t seem to react well to even cleansers & moisturizers that are made for sensitive skin. Recently, I used the Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser, and my skin felt dry & uncomfortable for at least 2.5 days after using it (it felt like there was pressure on my skin after using this cleanser, and I only experienced relief after my skin started to produce some oil). I couldn’t wear any moisturizer afterwards either to deal with this dry & uncomfortable feeling because my skin hasn’t liked any moisturizers I’ve tried. Also, although I wish I could wash my face with a cleanser (since right now I’ve only been washing with water), it makes no sense to me to use a cleanser if it’s going to create problems by stripping my skin and making it feel dry for days. I don’t like the idea of having to use a moisturizer only to fix a problem that the cleanser caused. I also don’t understand why my skin is reacting unfavorably to this cleanser, since I’ve heard that the Vanicream facial cleanser is one of the cleansers made for the most sensitive skin types. So, I’m looking for an alternative way to cleanse my skin from bad bacteria, fungi, demodex mites, and any bad stuff that could be lingering on the skin, but it has to be something that works without stripping my skin to the slightest degree. It needs to be a product that’s gentle enough to use around the eyes, because the skin around my eyes tends to get irritated sometimes. I’m looking for a super gentle product that can clean my skin without stripping or irritating it, and then I can just rinse my face with water. Please let me know if you have any product recommendations for properly cleaning sensitive skin from impurities, without in any way stripping or irritating the sensitive skin. I need something that works, so I won’t have to settle for only washing my face with water. Thank you 🙏🏻
The gleanser is live changing I am a huge skincare “connoisseur” and omg hands down the BEST cleanser (oily combo skin here) not stripping not oily or personally I don’t like cerave cream cleanser because it feels like lotion this one does have a lather not to much but not too little.
