I’m feeling your pain Jamie. The grader must have been having a bad day. Great to see you back.
Thanks! I've been a bit stealth lately, but I'm going to try to make some more content. 🙂
I just learned that my CPR Daredevil #1 graded a 5.0 from a 5.5. It originally suffered some overhang bends from the book shifting around inside the slab. I had them pressed along with the book and it improved in presentation. My goal was to retain my 5.5 with the overhang bends corrected.
Ugh! Sorry about the grade drop. Always a bummer.
You must have gotten someone at CGC grading your books that just takes joy in lowering grades, this is shocking, yikes...
Great vid nonetheless, great to see a new one!
Cheers! 🍻I’ve been crazy busy and spread as thin as modern comic paper! I’m going to try to produce some educational content that may be helpful for collectors.
yea they been sucking balls over at cgc lately
Hi Jame. Sorry for your loss....does make for a great video. Better luck next time!
Sigh! Yes, it was a shocker. I actually have a follow-up video on this. 😅 Stay tuned!
Oh my…
I just sent a DareDevil #168 for the same procedure, which was never pressed and in my mind undergraded before. It was in the first cgc case.
Seeing this makes me nervous.
Oh my is right! I felt done to in a bad way! 🤣😭😢
I hope your experience is better…
CGC said Nope not today....
Haha! The box should have just read DENIED! 😆
Unbelievable....C.G.C. has become unfriendly with me ages ago...from the days that they were under the dictatorship of Steve Brock...l feel like they chuckle when they do what they did to you Jaimie...they are Sadistic a- holes
Nice rare comic man either way 🤩
A beauty! 😍🤩

That was a shocker!!! So sorry 😞
😭😭😭😭😭😭
Do you think it's possible "retribution" for not always saying glowing things about CGC? Don't count on graders notes always being there they aren't always. (They should be tho)
I'm not sure about that but I have noticed a difference between "expert" and non-expert graders. When I submit into the unlimited value tier, the grades are just more accurate.
Hey Jamie. Do you think is should grade old low condition silver and golden age comics? I’m afraid cgc will damage brittle or semi ripped pages? I’m scared of taking the risk 🤔
There is a risk. I know of a few RUclipsrs who have shared examples of CGC damaging old books. Even I have been a victim. It's definitely a situation where you have to accept some risk. Nobody cares about your collection a much as you. 🙂
I have a ton of higher grade golden age books that I want to get graded, mostly just for preservation purposes, however seeing how some of these books are handled by CGC scares the crap out of me. A few of my books are large, even by Golden Age standards, so I'm very afraid of how they'll treat them when encapsulating them. Too small for magazine but too large for a standard golden age bag and board.
I’ve had my fair share of CGC book damage. If our positions were reversed, I’d probably send them in for grading. What’s the worst that could happen? 😅 Actually, don’t answer that! Haha!
@@DragonInkComicsthis scares me 😮😮
Be afraid. Be very afraid. 😅@@MetalBum
grading harshly this past year
Brutal 💔 😢
Sorry about the inconsistency! But I have a question... Why, in the wide, wide world of sports, are collectors willing to pay substantially more for a 9.8 vs. a 9.6 vs. a 9.4 and so on... When there are literally dozens of real life stories like yours that demonstrate that the grades are not reliable from month to month - not even on the same book? And my observation - everyone bemoans the lack of grader's notes... why do you suppose CGC doesn't include them? I think it's because CGC cannot put grader's notes (nor can they "reveal" their definitions and methodology) because they KNOW their grades and their graders are so inconsistent that if they did, it would be become even more obvious that the grades that they're assigning are unreliable to the point that the only thing one is getting for their $30 to $300 fee is a $3 plastic case.
This was a painful unboxing and really made me question my approach. I've never had a book go down in grade when I've sent it to EBay in the case for a crack, press, and regrade. I've only had them go down with independent pressors. For low value books or books that have never been graded, using a third party pressors make sense. For anything else, I think using Ebay is the way to go, even if the book comes back the same grade, which is better for their reputation.
Wow thats shocking
It’s a s$&t sandwich 🥪 💩
I wasn’t sure who did you have crack and press? Do you think they didn’t do a good job. Or do you think it was just cgc graders were harsh??
I think it was all the graders. The pressor I used is Eric Loreto (ComicBookPressing.Net). I've had good results with him in the past.
That really sucks but Rusty Staples I can see a grader lowering the grade what the alter ego that's a magazine case and I have submitted for at least 15 years comics and have usually got the grades I expected, earlier this year I sent a bunch of magazines to get graded for the first time and all the grades were so far off I had a TMNT issue 2 first print alldayeveryday 9.8 for sure and it came back at 9.4 and a couple other books I had that should be 9.6 has came back 9.0 with that from my experience I will never submit magazine ever again the people grading magazines are not accurate and it seems that you got also got bad grades luckily the people that do the comics I have had all good experiences until they start grading more accurately for the magazines I would not submit any magazines or if you already have them not resubmit you'll just probably get lower grades then you want or expect
Yikes! I hope other people reading this take heed before sending in magazines. I hate rusty staples. This one is on me for buying the book before looking at the grader’s notes. 😔
That darn CGC! Dang! What a bummer. Sorry! Where is the consistency?
Right!?!?! 9.4 to 8.5. That’s like cats and donkeys 🤣
I have a feeling some wacky tobacky is being smoked during break time down there in Sarasota! 🥴
Holy crap. That was painful to watch.
😭😭😭😭😭😭
Yikes…….what in the world???!!!
😭😭😭
Wow, someone at CGC was in a bad mood that week.
Haha! You got that right! I must have submitted them to the s$&@ tier! 😭
