They’ve been together less than two years actually. The summary says 18 months since she’s been at Basgiath, so it’s been less than that. Their romance is my least favorite part of the books.
I feel your pessimism about Violet and Xaden. They're both so enamoured and infatuated, I question whether or not it's love. But I'm here for it and I hope they find an unorthodox way to save the world and their relationship. I feel like Violet agreed and consented with Xaden's plans and marriage, but Imogen erased her memory to protect Xaden and prevent Violet from having to lie about Xaden's plans and whereabouts
with two books there’s plenty of time to see how their relationship transforms! (hopefully for the better) & I think you’re definitely onto something with Imogen erasing Violet’s memory to protect Xaden
I have never been feral for the fourth wing series, I think they’re fun and read them all. This book so far has been a SLOG. I don’t want to give up right now though
i started it and DNF'd it a few chapters in. I'm confused why I liked the first two books? Maybe I've evolved bc the main character's relationship now just gives me the ick😂
I am honestly sick of RUclipsrs trying to tell the authors how they should write their books. Excuse me who are you to have the audacity to tell anyone how they should write their books ? If you think you can do it better than please write a book series yourself! And I am not saying that because I think Onyx Storm was the best book in a series ever. It wasn’t. But I also don’t critique books that I didn’t like because I think it’s not fair to the author and the people who sincerely love the books and enjoy reading them. Nowadays everyone thinks they can tell anyone what they should and should not read. If you didn’t like Onyx Storm it‘s okay. Don’t read the next books then. But please keep your negative bs comments to yourself. You are not in the position to critique anything as long as you haven’t written and published your own series.
That’s….not how any of this works. Do restaurant/movie/product/etc reviewers have no basis because they aren’t the ones creating? No. You don’t need to be a published author to be able to have a critique. In fact, I would argue that there are probably more people who have been formally educated in writing and literature that arent published. It’s not realistic for everyone to have the same, overly positive review of something-that’s weird. If someone can’t handle seeing someone’s opinion that doesn’t align with there’s they can simply not watch it. OS was not well written in my opinion. Flat characters, incomplete plot points, confusing writing, shoddy world building, no stakes/tension, things are tied up so conveniently, etc. The random POV’s at the end added nothing and felt so out of place. It’s very apparent RY hasn’t written fantasy and that Red Tower is using this as a cash grab because people will buy them whether or not they are well written or well edited.
@ that‘s absolutely stupid. Taste is different for everyone. Even with restaurants, movies, music etc. That doesn’t mean someone who is not specialised in the specific area should be allowed to critique something they don’t know anything about like writing a book. Just because you didn’t like Onyx Storm and felt like the book was badly written doesn’t mean other see it the same way like you. That’s your own opinion that you are allowed to have. But again, that doesn’t mean the book was really written as badly as you say. Seriously who do you think you are ? You didn’t like it that’s totally okay. But you are all no professionals in publishing business and an author like Rebecca Yaros would not be as popular as she is if she didn’t know how to write good books. Your own taste doesn’t define in the slightest how good or bad a book is!
@@irodekerThere’s plenty of poorly written books that get published. This is such an odd take lol No one persons opinion defines if something is good or bad, obviously-that’s not how any review or opinion works. People can dislike or like whatever they want, and they can make their opinion public. Just because it doesn’t align with YOUR opinion doesn’t make it invalid. It’s an opinion, that’s how it works. Like what you like, but getting upset that people have critiques and not being able to handle that is strange.
@ but your opinion doesn’t mean the book is really badly written just because you say so. That’s what I am saying. You are just trying to make it look bad to others. And that in general has to stop. Just and author or publisher can define that and not any kind of RUclipsr who has no clue really. If you don’t have to say anything positive just say nothing at all. I wish more people would stick to that. Sure there are lots of books and authors who don’t work for me because I don’t like their writing style or the stories they write in general but I would never dare to say that those books are poorly written. And that is not an odd take. You don’t know what kind of process the author went through before a book was published.
@ That’s not how this works. People are entitled to critique and have opinions that are short of positive of public work that was paid for. It’s also not well written just because someone says so either. Some is objective, but there are fundamentals of writing. No one is “trying to make it look bad”, it’s an opinion and if someone is that influenced by someone’s opinion that it changes their own, that’s their issue.

wow 18 months makes it even worse

right? at this point we're 3/5 books in
RIGHT?! This book was brutal to sit through in ways I hadn’t felt from the first two.. hopefully the next book turns it around
i started it and DNF'd it a few chapters in. I'm confused why I liked the first two books? Maybe I've evolved bc the main character's relationship now just gives me the ick😂
Okay same!! Violet & Xaden’s relationship was pmo they were annoying
