I just discovered your channel, love it, I just subscribed to it. This video has completely changed my view on posture after almost two years of playing cello. Since watching this video I’ve lengthened my end pin more than two inches and increased the lean of my cello. As an experiment, I set the cello back to my original height and couldn’t believe how hunched over I was. You may be asking why hasn’t anyone pointed this out to me after two years. I began playing during Covid. I’ve always been fascinated with cello but doubted my ability to ever play it or any instrument. I gave it a try at a local music store and loved it. After my second 30 min lesson Covid hit hard and no more lessons. So it’s been self discovery for the most part. I now do lessons online and play the cello daily, becoming more fascinated by it. Like you, I’ve been inspired by random people telling me I play very well, what a motivator that is. I wish I had started playing much earlier in life but I refuse to believe that I can’t reach my cello goals because of my age. I’m 53 now but I feel this is a passion I can pursue for a lifetime. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your message, it was inspiring to read! I'm so glad to hear that, like me, you believe it's never too late to achieve your goals! It definitely is a lifelong passion, and one that only gets better the further you go. Thanks again for writing!
great tips, thanks! I just realized that the chair angle might help so I'm going to put shims under the back legs of my chair and see if that helps with the back/hips angle.
Im a woman, im 180 and i have breast in size D, I’m struggling with sitting and playing with the cello. I started like one month ago. It was all good until third week when I started to play écossaise and something more than twinkle twinkle little star:(
blah blah... 1:00 the solar plexus is not where you point, it is lower. The recommended height of the 4/4 size cello player is 155 cm. What if I am 190 cm height? My position will be completely different

How much does the angle matter against your body

Congratulations, you've discovered that general guidelines may need to be tweaked on an individual basis.
